You are SERIOUSLY brilliant. I would have never thought of this, in a million years. Every time I watch your videos, I’m more amazed every time! Everything you said here makes SO much sense. Now that you’ve got me thinking on those lines, I’ll bet the smooth hard piping without all of those thousands of ridges well offsets any “drag” from the few bends in that piping, by far. At least that’s how I see it too, although I’m obviously no plumber either. Painting them black for heat retention was sheer brilliance too. Great video!

From ribbed pipes to straight pvc pipe my flow rate tripled . My pump is working great. My pool water stays in motion and not stagnant . I have 1 90 and a 45 .

I tripled my flow rate and my pool is working exceptional at my inlet jet. More then tripled my flow. 1 1/2 inch pvc and added a Hayward widemouth skimmer. Cleaner and clearer pool then last year.

Coefficient of expansion will move the piping along its various axis, and this ultimately will be a problem unless you have built in some stress relief through elasticity to accept bending moments without the breaking that always occurs. Otherwise, excellent video and thanks!

Genius Pondiver‼️. I’m liking the shutoffs versus the plugs. The plugs can be tedious. That wall mount skimmer is not one of my favorites, thinking about the other cut out wall skimmer. Maybe it will do a better job. Does it matter which of the two intakes it’s attached to matter? Keep them videos coming, you have talent buddy👍🏼

"...a few 90s will not affect the performance of the pump..."
Every 90 is the equivalent of adding 10 feet of pipe. You should have used double-45s everywhere, especially if you were starting this conversion from scratch, and not just repairing something already plumbed previously. Will you physically see a difference...probably not. But it will impact the life span of the pump, and you would have got much better flow without the 90s. If you were going through the work of upgrading from hose to PVC, why not do it the right way the first time? Especially if the point of this entire project was to improve flow. Though getting rid of the ribbed hose is a huge advantage, as-is.
As far as the heating via paint goes, I'm skeptical, with that short of a distance of pipe. Did you do a control test first, prior to painting, over a span of several days? The water will heat up several degrees through the day, on any sunny day. It's very unlikely that the paint over that small of an area will have much of an impact. There is a benefit to the paint, though, in that it will reduce the damage from UV.
