  • A popular song from 1916
Words and music by Otis A. Kline
    Lyrics
    1. Jimmie Brown from New York Town
    Went out on his vacation
He stopped off at a station
    In old Virginia for recreation
He met a blue eyed maiden there
    And shortly they were wed
But when he took her to Broadway
Why this is what she said
    Chorus
Let’s go back, let’s go back
    I’ve got the Virginia Blues
You can’t refuse to take me
    Right back home with you
That’s the place, that’s the place
    I’ll always choose
So, carry me back to old Virginia
    Because I’ve got ’em
    You bet I’ve got ’em
Yes, I’ve got the Virginia Blues
    2. At Cabarets and swell Cafes
    Their dinners he was buying
    But she was always sighing
And late one evening he heard her crying
He quickly took her in his arms
    And asked her to explain
To his surprise she answered him
    By singing this refrain

Thanks James. I appreciate the encouragement! As usual, you produced a great piano MIDI…

You’re right-published in 1922. Lots of songs with the same titles-apparently one can’t copyright a title.
