I mean, yes and no. There is no copyright *on the composition,* so you can freely perform it without having to pay royalties to Bach. But each individual performance of it *_IS_* under copyright. So if the Chicago Symphony Orchestra played Bach in 2018, the recording of that is 100% under copyright and not free to use. So if cartoons want to use Bach they either need to; get a very old recording that's also out of copyright; or record it themselves; or buy it from someone.

I think THAT might be the inhibiting cost thing. Not so much the copyright on the composition. If you get them to do Bach, they just come in, play the piece for the 1000th time, it's routine. Boom, done.

El Condor Pasa was my favorite. When it came out in 1970 and I was living in Saint Paul Minnesota I must’ve played that song 10 times a day and I still play it to this day. There are many people who play it really well and you to do, and I really admire the people who can play it’s in give people that feeling of peace and anticipation at the same time. It's the right tempo to move people in a quick but orderly fashion, and in America it is innocuous enough to not panic guests but alert staff because they're listening for it

I've heard many of these tunes in cartoons from the 40s and 50s. So basically I can thank the likes of Bugs Bunny and Tom & Jerry for some of my knowledge of classical music.

I had a solo & Concerto for piano and flute... I have never ever in my life lost control of my tears on stage but I perfectly performed our part still in Tears. I was so embarrassed, I realized the flute is my kryptonite... I wasn’t aware that musically our completely different two instruments like soulmates hehehe....

That's why I laugh when people say it's not relevant to their lives. We wouldn't have soundtrack music/movie scores if it weren't for classical romantic, baroque etc. So much pop music borrows as well like that Maroon 5 song that's literally Canon in D and doesn't try to hide it.
Tom and Jerry will forever be my favourite for making me fall in love with classical music. It's so good and clearly shows how even without dialogue the story or emotion can still be conveyed through the music and facial expressions. Wish more shows were like them.

Zequinha de Abreu was a Brazilian composer and piano player. "Tico-tico no Fubá" (meaning "a sparrow kidding in cornflour") is an original piece for piano. There are hundreds of versions, arrangements for different instruments.

I’ve played the flute both solo and in bands through my entire schooling, and this video has convinced me that I’ve never heard an a flute be perfectly in tune until this very moment LOL
I know this is a joke but this triggers my pedanticness lol Gladiators had no idea this song existed. It was composed centuries later, similar to how William Wallace wouldn't have known about the Braveheart movie theme. Also I think this became the clown theme as both the arena where gladiators performed and the stage clowns performed was/is called Circus.
I never considered myself a classic music enthusiast but I actually knew all of this. Sabre Dance (and the ballet it is from) in particular has been my favourite for many years.

There were 3 I didn’t know- 2 that I had no idea of the title and another I thought I knew, but was wrong. I was gobsmacked to see Stars and Stripes Forever and The Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy on this list.

@@redtruth121 a lot of theatres, orchestras and other entertainment use it to signal to staff that there is an emergency and to start evacuating. It's the right tempo to move people in a quick but orderly fashion, and in America it is innocuous enough to not panic guests but alert staff because they're listening for it

I've heard many of these tunes in cartoons from the 40s and 50s. So basically I can thank the likes of Bugs Bunny and Tom & Jerry for some of my knowledge of classical music.

I had a solo & Concerto for piano and flute... I have never ever in my life lost control of my tears on stage but I perfectly performed our part still in Tears. I was so embarrassed, I realized the flute is my kryptonite... I wasn’t aware that musically our completely different two instruments like soulmates hehehe....

Zequinha de Abreu was a Brazilian composer and piano player. "Tico-tico no Fubá" (meaning "a sparrow kidding in cornflour") is an original piece for piano. There are hundreds of versions, arrangements for different instruments.
