Thanks! i will have to dissapoint you on that one, i managed to mess up both my audio and video on that one, so it is a complete mess =/ i will definatly have to get a new gopro or two :S
Very good and interesting series of videos. Thanks. My R850gs (exact same bike as the R1100gs) has anodised rims, easily removed with oven cleaner but is nasty stuff and best used outside. Then they polished up like a mirror. The spokes are awful at the hub end and really need replacing with stainless. Best tip I can come up with for nice running is to balance the throttle bodies exactly the same at 4000rpm, and obviously make sure there's play in the throttle cables at idle. It's surprising the difference it makes to vibration at 4000rpm + .
Thanks! anodized wheels would be nice, these start oxidazing immedeatly if i use to strong cleaners on them. mine should be replaced to for the looks sake, they are not superbad, but not great either. hmm, i need to look in to that, see if there is possible to get it to run a bit smoother, it isnt really bad atm, but if there is more smothness to gain, it would be worth it! Thank you for the tip!
I will finish that video the next few days, it has been delayed as i were not happy with my videos/sound, and got super demotivated. But it is time to finish what i started! And the brakes frels good, and bites hard. I didn't have any issues testing my abs to put it like that! 😅
Great video! I was one of the guys requesting this video as I have the same bike (but with rough wheels) and I just realized you posted this months later. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing 👍 got one of these bikes and I am struggling to achieve a shine like you managed to get . I'll have a try tomorrow. The motorbike looks so perfect 👌 you should feel proud of all your hard work 💪 respect is due 👏
Thank you! 😁 just keep on trying and you will get it in the end! What products are you using, and how are you using them? Should I make more videos on this topic? I have promised my sister to polish and coat her car soo 🙄😅 And I were really happy with the results on this bike, I apriciate the positivity! 👍
@@pristineprojects4881 just used and basic wheel wash and then hours of autosalve metal polish. No where even close to the shine you achieved. Its a definitely yes on more videos about this bike I would love to see you riding on it and your thoughts about its handling and power . How difficult on a scale of 1 to ten was the seat re-cover it looked a bitch of a job?
Guess the best solution to re spoke both wheels in stainless. Front wheel not a problem. The real wheel requires a hub alignment jig. Very few people have one.
Yeah, you are right. This is a video about the rim itself tho. Not the spokes, maybe i should change the title :p had several comments on the shinyness of the wheel in another video you see.
I have made the same way of polishing like You, and wheels are looking great. Now I'm wondering how to keep mirror efect on whels. Now it is naked aluminium - how did Yoy protect them of oxidize??
No, the last video i was going to make on it were ruined because of video/sound mistakes, and some corupted files from my gopros =/ and it is now sold, but atleast it's being used!
I have painted black rims in my R1100GS from previous owner, how I can remove the paint?, do you know products that I can use without dissambling the wheels?
Hard to tell, it depends on how they are painted. Have they been anodized? Powdercoated? Professial paintjob with a 2 component clear coat? Or just a diy, can of paint, spray and pray job? Those 3 first ones I would just let them be. The last one however. That should be easily stripped down with some paint stripper. If you have to use "tools" to get the paint of, I wouldn't start it without disassembling the wheels. It will be a complete nightmare to work around the spokes. I hope this helps a little atleast 😅
I used Nerta Wheelshine. But I think any high alcaline product could work. But be carefull, this can give chemical burns and potentially damage metall. Just so you are aware 😅
Beautiful bike and an amazing restoration ..!! Can’t wait for the riding episode !

I’m really looking forward to seeing your test ride. Especially, how well the brakes work with the original lines and how the suspension feels.

Good to hear! I used ceramic coating for wheels. Not sure how it holde up long term, as i sold the bike. But it looken good for the time i had it 😅
@@pristineprojects4881 i will do the same.THKS !
Good job
Thanks!
how about posting a video a little more often than 1video/year?
That is the plan, but I had to leave the country due to Covid. I will be fully vaccinated soon, and back in buisness!
Any more updates with this bike ?

Can You give the name of this product, i mean wheel cleaner?
I used Nerta Wheelshine. But I think any high alcaline product could work. But be carefull, this can give chemical burns and potentially damage metall. Just so you are aware 😅
The best way to clean 'em is with a fresh layer of mud, and tar. The GS is not a pretty little dress that girls are afraid of getting dirty.
WD 40
not working on these wheels
