Body and Soul-From Living Room Sessions Number 8

Song number eight From My Living Room-Body and Soul. This arrangement by Cy Walter who was called the Park Avenue Art Tatum is brilliant on many levels. Cy had his own personal stamp all over his arrangements. I had never heard his recordings before I learned this stylization. When I finally heard his recording on Liberty Records I discovered the interpretation was very different then the way that I felt it. In my opinion that is a testament to his versatility and genius because his arrangements work in many different ways. Lastly this is the song I played for Johnny Green at his home in Beverly Hills when I was in my 20s. A very special memory. The photo was taken when we first met in the early 70s.

I love your playing. When my Mom was alive I would ask her to play "Body and Soul", one of my favorites.
