Thanks man! The freezer is full! I was able to hook up my friends, cover the gas and make a few bucks on the side! good times and some amazing memories
That's a great haul! The mushrooms are awesome this year! I was able to harvest 13 pounds of really nice ones today. It's always nice to find new spots.
Yeah, and usually when they are that good (plentiful) they fetch fifty cents a pound!:) Still, a couple hondo for wondering the woods and enriching the fungus, flora, and fauna. Thank you for helping the planet!
Hi! It's so amazing to find so many mushrooms! I live in Victoria and am hoping to pick some mushrooms this weekend. Don't know where to go yet. Would you recommend Sooke, Shawnigan Lake, or elsewhere? Thank you!
Mid island, Alberni valley..... there is no market here atm, might appear as the end of the season come near... not sure I'm not a commercial seller, just one of those guys that doesn't mind covering costs, making a few bucks and putting a bunch in the freezer :) Word on the street is the pines are about, I wish I knew more about them... only ones I found were on the side of the road lol.
Funny that you said that! I am going out tomorrow to help some friends and family find some for Thanksgiving treats! My plan is to make a video about what to do with them when you get home! I typically store them in the fridge short term a week+ at most. They dehydrate well bit are typically better off being dry sautéed, seasoned then vacuumed packed. Your more then welcome to come out pm me!
The price was trash this year, bumper crop. started @ 12 bucks and quicky plummeted to 3. I don't pick for money, I pick cause I love the outdoors and hooking up friends and family. Its Pine time now!
I'm not trying to be a dick but ya, we do that.. Humans are actually better spreading spores than nature. That's why there are holes in 5g buckets. Please tell me you didn't vote kamala lmao
that's called.. over harvesting.... nI rly LOVE mushrooms and the culture.. but now ppl have gotten SO greedy... deer. bear. slug, snail. all come to take shelter, and find food.. pick enough for self, and 10 pounds for the store. you ppl and the rest I see.. spo so so effin GREDDY! especially when our Forrest's are at an all time high for devestation and disease riddled trees needing everything around them. everything is in harmony. until us flesh bags come along and ruin it all.
like have fun n all,,, but don't over do it.. ad don't take the homes of others snails hide in them cause slugs don't rlly care for them. same with wood bugs and others. not mad at you. its jus sad to see.. no good to see
I am compelled to reply to your comment in a productive way to clear the air. This has been a very good year in regards to Chanterelles. I leave more then I harvest as a rule as the forest residents rely on this food source (demonstrated with the video). I don't pick every mushroom I see, you would be surprised. Typically its about 50% and keep in mind that the total was split between the 2 of us. My freezer is loaded, we were able to cover the gas, food, etc it costs to get to these places. As the mushroom's are picked and carries about they drop their spores as we go. If anything were not getting rich or causing any harm. Have a good thanksgiving :) Nice username BTW lol
I am so grateful for the mild August we had.
It was really awesome to see a bumper year! I have been doing this for a long time and this year was the best I have ever seen, hands down!
That is awesome
Thank you :)
BUD YOU CLEANED UP ON CHANTYS NICE WORK!

Great video Brother. Yes it has been an epic year for all kinds of mushrooms, Chanterelles included. Thanks for sharing all your info. 👊🍄
Thank you! I just love being out there!

As a stickler, real nerds then 'plant' the trimmed stem butts nearby. Maybe not 400lbs worth!
We went back there 10 days later and there were even more!
Stress relief. Nice
I find my peace out there!
awesome video
Thank you!!!!
I would love to join you one day! Keep up the hard work and great videos!
I am always looking for outdoors like minded people :)
Awesome! Great video and lots of hard work

sooke going off
I would agree with @westcoast8562 its good out there
Are you in the north, mid or south island? Im near Duncan and eagerly waiting for the Pines to pop. What are they paying for the Chantelles this year?
Mid island, Alberni valley..... there is no market here atm, might appear as the end of the season come near... not sure I'm not a commercial seller, just one of those guys that doesn't mind covering costs, making a few bucks and putting a bunch in the freezer :) Word on the street is the pines are about, I wish I knew more about them... only ones I found were on the side of the road lol.
Yo. Keep it up!! Love the dol family
I was so disappointed by my first 5 years in the US that I haven't been out this year. Found giant puffbals by driving by. Have to go!
The last few years here have been terrible, this year was amazing! get out there!
In the midwest, the chanties are always full of bugs and the porcinis are bug free!
On the west coast here I estimate about 1% bug damage to the Chanterelle's!
I just got home from my first decent little haul. Where do you store them all. Id like to go out with you sometime.

What price? Did they say it was going down fast?
The price was trash this year, bumper crop. started @ 12 bucks and quicky plummeted to 3. I don't pick for money, I pick cause I love the outdoors and hooking up friends and family. Its Pine time now!
Hey man, I’m looking to learn, been out a couple times, would u take me? I’m in Victoria but I don’t mind driving!
Hey I'm sorry for the delayed reply, just seeing this now! there are a couple weeks left of pine season though!
Would love to come pick sometime, hit me up, I have a drone and multiple cameras I could bring as well.
sounds like a plan!
I've been picking for a few months just for eating outside hub city. Where is the buyer?
Been the worst year for buyers ever! I gave most to friends and family that I didn't preserve. I will be a buyer next season
what u American people do with them? :)
Im a Canadian born and raised. I would assume they do what we do with them bud
Dude…cut them…tap it a few times before hand to get spores out more

Uncharted is kind to slugs, people, and especially trolls
That’s like saying “you’re picking too many apples off the trees!” Lol
@@dustinadair7893they are for the bugs! No more warm apple pie.
