This is far the most complete 3/4-axis slider I've seen. Many pan and tilt heads suffer from parallax effects because of horrible design choices, this gives a nice option to center your camera and minimize this effect. And the option to use your hands and set the in/out points is sooo smart! :D Great review, cheers!
I really like this system for the studio. The rolling dolly is just crazy. The focus motor can be used on the zoom ring too. For remote landscape work, I prefer the Syrp system. It's Genie 2 is much smaller and lighter for a backpack with the ability to have a longer slider. Still, the Edelkrone system is more comprehensive. Great for studio and even remote use. Plus look at the whole system, very flexible. If you primarily do remote landscape and weight is a concern, there are smaller systems.
For Studio the Rhino Arc 2 looks awesome. You don't need a smart phone and you can use large gear. For pure mobility, the Syrp was built for it. Edelkrone splits the two and personally I think the slider is the weakest link, but the dollies look great.
@@rogerhuston8287 I want to try crane lab as well, just for motion time lapse...I totally agree edelkrone slider is not good enough specially at sight...At the mountain you need stable equipment with long battery life...
We have the full slider pro bundle. Our needs were photographing car interiors in video. So far the system does an excellent job. Using a Canon 5D for test the results look beautiful. The next step, waiting for our Zcam E2S6 using CP Zeiss lenses. Going to be a great year 2020. We found a reasonable tripod that starts out very low and extends to about 5 feet high. Need to be mindful of balance, and always have the legs set to carry the extension left/right.
That was the greatest coverage of the Edelkrone Slider Plus and HeadPlus units. Additionally, I learned so much from your beautiful explanation of the final time lapses. Thank you very much! :) And, of course, I’ve subscribed, with notifications.
I think the laser target is a great feature. Otherwise there are a number of alternatives to also consider, like from Syrp, and C-Pan Arm, not to mention the Moza Slypod combined with the Moza Air 2.
I like it but I have 1 questions, when I do time lapse especially of the stars u want the camera completely stop so that u can do that long exposure then the slider can move again repeated action, Can this slider stop then continue to say 10 seconds exposure stop take picture move stop take picture move if u notice your stars were not sharp, what's your take on this
Great video! Thanks for sharing! I am motivated to but this unit! However question on your timelapses, your shutter speed was 5 sec and I could see star trails… is 5 sec a long enough shutter speed?
I went with a kessler system that is a bit more heavy duty, but it's such a pain in the ass to use because of the weight. If you're a running gunning person, I think Edelkrone is a bit better. If you have a team to manage equipment, Kessler is okay but seems like it needs updating as well. Patrick - how come you didn't use the focus rig?
The focus rig didn't work with our Panasonic lenses. I explained it in the video, they are focus by wire and everytime you turn off the camera the focus position is reset. -P
Fantastic review even though we are not the least bit interested in the product. That said, the company picked the right people to review their gear. Had we wanted this equipment I bet we would of placed the order 3/4 of the way into the review.
Awesome review a lot of effort put in to it. Can you tell us witch tripod I use to hold all the kit? Do you see any bending problems at the edge of the slider because the weight?
Syrp slider generation 1 are terrible. The pan and tilt units have 4-5 degrees of play in the gears... App is rarely updated and lacks many basic features. Always loses connections and doesn't't always work. Generation 2 is better but the pan/tilt head has terrible parallax (the unwanted kind) for tilt axis... Better off with the nice ifootage shark mini slider for a better price or go edelkrone
It will have motion blur but because my shutter was only 5 seconds, the blur is very small especially with a wide angle lens. If you want perfectly crisp images, you need to use the timelapse function which will allow the Head unit to fire your camera every time it stops and then it will continue to move and then take another steady shot. -P
and you can have the complete package for 6,789.00 USD !!!! bullocks!!! GVM makes equipment that does pretty much the same movements, except for tilts, but for only 400 CAD.................I bought one of Edelkrone's first sliders, cost me a fortune and I could never get a smooth pull or push, especially when trying to use the complete length of the slider.....once it hit the center point, I would always get some shudder in my footage......
LOL, I use the GVM for a B-cam in interviews and it's great for motorized slides. The manual 'panning' option is hit and miss and takes a lot of trial and error in practise, although it gives good results when eventually set. I also own the sliderONE v2 and 2 headONE's. The 2 systems aren't even comparable. The edelkrone is absolutely incredible, it takes 30 seconds to setup initially, and all changes after that are instant. There is no messing around with a 'panning rod', no constant adjustments to keep my subject centred, no having to have 2 tripods perfectly level at each end. Every single movement is repeatable 1000 times, making VFX a dream. It really does allow the only limit to your shots your imagination. It's a case of getting what you pay for. The GVM is great for what it is, but the edelkrone is lightyears ahead of it in both options, ease of use and quality,
hey i just bought the slider one, was shooting some timelapse stuff and i recognised lot of shaking when the slider was moving. Is there a setting that i miss while using the timelapse mode or is it because that set up is so heavy for a tripod?
The announcement from iFootage of their US$500 system seems to have possibly prompted Edelkrone to do a big push promoting their (admittedly more extensive, but much more expensive) multi-axis system...
Fstoppers “Shark Slider Nano”. They showed it at NAB and expected to ship it around August IIRC. Slide and pan only, so this edelkrone system can be expanded to do a lot more, but the iFootage is at a much lower price point.
It does but the camera is moving sooo slowly. If you are making a timelapse it's not the end of the world but if you want to use the photos as stills then yes they are slightly blurred. I was going for convenience of making a timelapse in camera vs making the sharpest timelapse that required 60 mins instead of 30. -P
If it has hard stops then it should be. The issue we had with our Panasonic lenses was if you turned the camera off, the focus range was reset too. We couldn't calibrate our lenses without the clamp that holds the geared bands hitting the motor. -P

Looks like a great rig, but was I the only one who cringed at the "balancing" of the camera atop of that tiny pedestal on the HeadPLUS module? I imagine many cameras are going to take a dive onto a hard surface with that method.
you can make basic sliders for next to nothing and if you are willing to put in the time and a bit more money you can make it motorised, lots of videos of different types
Mostly for the head though. You can replace that head with two of the HeadONE Modules and a tilt mit, that makes it MUCH cheaper and has almost the same motion. He didn't go into why you would use the laser module too deeply, because that module together with the focus kit gets you the possibility to focus the camera and keep the same object you are tracking in the shot. Pretty amazing, but only useful if you are really into tracking an either moving object through a shot or doing a shot with a telephoto lens on the object. For everything else, you don't need the HeadPLUS, you can use the HeadONE and it gets much more affordable.
Why would you make a review, in studio, with gear that’s not compatible? A table top tripods the best you could do....really? With all the cameras and lenses you have, you choose ones that aren’t compatible . Tell us it has so many parts yet ‘oh we’ll not actually cover it in this video...’ 💩

Why? The minis have horrible gear play, produces loads of noises, the second generation of pan head have horrible parallaxes. This is expensive yes but it gives you loads of flexibility. Syrp is a small company and never gives their customers what they want... I own genie 1 and mini and it is so overpriced and lacks many basic features.
