    2:18 looks a little shakey there.. not really noticeable until you used a macro/telephoto lens for smooth pans.. still love edelkrone’s products though

    You know, I say the same damm thing. Every time That tightening boat needs to be improved. That system has failed on me several times as I thought I was going to loose my Sonya7r3. It hasn’t hit the floor yet but damm it give me pretty good scare when it swings down. Edelkrone needs a better locking system to hold that camera up

    I personally know owner of the Edelkrone company. And he is unique combination of mechanical engineering an film making talent. He is an engineering graduated and also film maker. Not surprised he's created this much good devices for the sector.

    Maybe the wobble is due to the fact that it hasn't been correctly balanced. You shouldn't need to lock the jib for it to stay put. The weight should be even on each side like 2 kids who weigh the same either side of a see-saw. You should only need a pink finger level of strength to move the jib, it should stay at rest in whatever position you leave it in. Yes, lock it off when youre gonna walk away for safety, but other than that it should stay put. Maybe correctly set up this thing would be smoother.

    When I use my jib, anytime the headplus is moving in post it creates a high pitch noise. Have you experienced this and if so what have you done to fix this noise. It's noticeable on post edits

    I'd love to know if the moves are accurate enough to do multiple passes for VFX. That's basically impossible to find in this price range, and even some of the pan/tilt only options just don't cut it. And along those same lines, can it start/stop video (or use video start as a cue to begin movement) to help sync up shots?
    Looks like a rather good deal either way, considering how many different ways you could use it.

    • @c.s.christopher5801
      @c.s.christopher5801 4 года назад +1

      Yes it can repeat moves precisely enough for that. And if you add their new Pan Pro, you get another axis on the jib.

    • @robertdouble559
      @robertdouble559 Год назад

      Electronically, sure, but mechanically this thing is as sloppy as heck. You can see it clearly in this sample footage. Look at the jib shots up over the figures. Very shaky. No way you're gonna get pixel perfect moves with that. Plus, for real VFX you want to genlock your camera to the moco, otherwise there's no guarantee the camera will be in EXACTLY the same position at the same time in each pass, it could be a fraction of a frame out of sync. Depends how pedantic you are. I am very pedantic. Best way to check the accuracy of any system like this is to layer the various passes over each other in difference mode in your edit/comp software. Inconstancies between the takes will be the only things that aren't black.

      @AurelTristen Год назад +1

      @@robertdouble559 Thanks for the response. I don't even remember posting my comment, but I did want to note that I've been able to get decent results using a Ronin RS3 for pan and tilt! It probably wouldn't be up to your standards, but it's not half bad for a 48h film or small commercial effect.

    • @robertdouble559
      @robertdouble559 Год назад

      @@AurelTristen Good to hear! I've been thinking about getting an RS3 Pro for jobs where I cant afford a full grip crew. I use d to do a bit of low rent moco with an emotimo rig way back, was fine for smal camera, BArely held my old Red Epic, had to watch out on exreme tilt angles or the little plastic gears would grind pretty bad! I also had the full iFootage shark slider and it's pan/tilt head, it was pretty dang solid actually. Nothing like a Bolt or similar top end setups, but still fun to play with for lower budget jobs.

      Yyyyyeah. As a solo shooter often filming myself, I guess it’d just be helpful to have another pair of “hands.” But that shake is ridiculous. Clearly it can’t support the weight of the head. I see noticeable jerks on even smoother shots

    The knurled neck thing could be replaced with a notched rail design, kinda like some old bicycle seat posts used to work back in the day where there was a lever arm, and closing would be done only on those notches. As for the key pose portion on the app, they should have that whole center screen for one key pose, with large buttons, and when you need the next one, you just swipe left or right. Otherwise all fingers are sausage fingers trying to get to those little buttons.

  • @cornerliston
    @cornerliston 4 года назад +2

    Nice to see.
    It's unfortunate how difficult it seems to be to do some smart software that matches frame rates so we also can get smooth pan shots on youtube and other media players.

    • @michalwalks
      @michalwalks 4 года назад

      Totally agree with your sentiment. Adding that into the app would make it next-gen.

    • @cornerliston
      @cornerliston 4 года назад +1

      @@michalwalks Need to be done in the video frame rate as I understand it?
      So one solution is for video providers on youtube to actually think about what frame rate used on youtube (instead of filming in 24 as often is?), or for the software developers do come up with a solution for conversion tool or such.
      There would probably be issues with just converting a frame rate to another but with machine learning that should/might soon be an old issue if so.
      Also adding to the problem is what media (screen) you watch the video on so it's probably not as easy as one would want it to be?

I purchased the jibone + Head Pro + Pan Pro - spent $2700 and the device is jittery. the footage is unusable and I need to get in contact with them because at this point I just have a $2700 hunk of metal that angers me everytime I look at it.

    Love that you could get this for - in worst case scenario - 3000 dollars - when one of those manual follow focus rigs can host half of that - and only consist of a of rods and mounting brackets... I think the camera world needs more stuff like this. Can't and will never afford (or need) something like this - but it's a start. This probably cost less than a Red power brick. :P

    Cool! Can you also use a preconfigured path as position/velocity/acceleration input , e.g. to get the camera motion to match with a path from a 3D program (for combining real shots with CGI)? In case not (yet): That's a feature that should be relatively easy to add and that would make a couple of people extra happy, I guess.
