When Austin hugged Sean and said “I feel so safe with you” and then referred to him as a new friend…🥺🥺🥺
And he said “you’re a kind gentleman” when Sean decided to drink the oat milk in solidarity with Austin
I melted hes so sweet
Mah man 🤟🏻🤟🏻
Austin is such a gentleman and he gives compliments as he feels deserved and means them. It's as he feels ❤
That was so sweet 🥹
Man he won me over when he said "I made a new friend that I hope will stay in my life for a long time"...like that's such a pure and humble thing to say to another human being...kinda sad that we so rarely see celebrities who bring themselves off their social pedestal and be normal like he does in this interview. Makes you love em more you know?

Knowing his mum died at 23 and hearing how he talks about her made me cry. She sounds like the most wonderful mother. She raised such a good person.
thats crazy, i was about to type out, it sounds like he so well adjusted and had so much love from his mother. I feel like he cherishes those little things so much. Not many people get a fantastic upbringing. Its cool listening to him talk about her so fondly. she would be proud.

Sean never asks insulting questions like other interviewers do to humiliate their guests. It's such a refreshing this to watch.
Ikr I’m sure he has a line of celebs who would love to be interviewed with him. So many times celebs will come on these episodes and talk about how they watched an interview of another celebrity that they know so I’m sure many know of who he is and respect him as an interviewer/person (or atleast I would hope)

He's adorable isn't he! I loved hearing him says such things, he really appreciates life + its gifts : )
I have noticed how much he has talked about being able to cry not just when he’s sad but when he is moved emotionally… I think that he is a good example of emotionally healthy masculinity.

It still amazes me that these interviews are, almost without exeception the best interviews I have seen with the guests. The combination of the research, Sean and perhaps the disarming effects of the Hot Sauces and the setting.
He doesn't even have a research team, he said on an interview once that it's only him and one other guy so that's crazy
Not but their questions are ELITE.
It's astonishing that in each and every interview, the guest says "God, that's such a good question" at least once. That really speaks to Seans and the whole team's professionalism. I love these interviews.
Sadly, also speaks to the level of journalists that are being pumped out these days... so sad
I’ve seen almost every hot ones interview and this one is now on my top ten list. The chemistry and authenticity is next level.
What's your top ten?
I wanna know the top 10 too lol

He lost his beloved mom. They sound like they had an amazing life together. He made it through the wings like no big deal. Love that.
so sad i didnt know she died. sounds like he loves her so much

Fabulous interview with Austin and Sean.More conversation than interview, was good
It seems as austin was also hobbled by a cloyingly overprotective mother like elvis.
So wholesome when Sean brings out the peanut butter and jelly ingredients and Austin says “You brought this ahead of time? That’s so thoughtful”
austin is very adorable
@Repent and believe in Jesus Christ hail stan
@Kate: I really like your comment Kate and it makes me think about just what a wonderful person Sean is. I found myself thinking today for the first time ever, I wonder if he has become close friends or even just general friends with any celebrity he has met on the show? Because clearly you can see there's a connection that happens for a lot of them because Sean is just so authentic and so genuine. When Austin says "We should do this more often" (or something to that effect) you can tell he's really enjoying it. So yeah I find myself wondering what friendships, if any, have come out of this for Sean?
Timestamp?
I don’t think I’ve ever heard so many ‘Wow, what a great question!’s in my life than from guests on this programme. It’s one thing getting guests on and eating rather spicy food, but they must feel respected too by the level of research and interest involved with the questions asked.
It also exposes how bad your average interview technique is and the boredom of generic questions😂

Here's just one of many reasons why this is the best interview show ever: you watch the ones with people that you already like and you just love them even more, then you watch the ones with people you barely know (e.g. Austin Butler) and you discover they're awesome and want to watch everything they're in. I heard someone say Austin calms down and slows down everything around him and that’s just so true. It’s not just his voice, which is soothing, but it’s the way he tackles every question. No matter how fast or rushed the interviewer is (not talking about Sean), Austin moves smoothly in his own pace. Like he said about holding the pause, he’s not afraid to take a second, really think and give a thoughtful response. Its also the confidence, he may be shy but he’s very sure of what he’s saying because he has already put in the work, he knows he’s not just talking out of his a**. i just finished reading Jeanette McCurdy’s “i’m glad my mom died”, and watching this video it really stands out to me how healthy Austin’s relationship with his mom must have been. It’s so normalised for child stars to have toxic relationships with their parents that it’s so endearing to hear how fondly Austin recounts memories of his mother
yes! i was just thinking this! beyond the fact that he himself wanted to act and his mom simply nurtured that, she also made sure to spend quality time with him that wasn't just work related
Huh, I hadn’t thought of that! Interesting comparison. But it kind of makes sense since Jeanette and Austin were both child actors & Austin was even on iCarly briefly. They both lost their mom which puts them in a rare category of similarity.
His mom was the one to really encourage his love of acting because she cared about him.
As a human being Lori Butler sounds far more well-adjusted than Jeanette’s mom did. Sounded like Jeanette’s mom had a lot of issues and the way she traumatized her poor daughter is not the only way those issues manifested.
I do think given how many child stars turn out “messed up” like having some rebellious period or being severely traumatized and struggling with their identity… it is interesting how Austin did not… and I wonder if a caring, present mom was a big part of that.
And just man she sounded like such a fun mom… makes me think of how I read Princess Di always tried to get her kids to go to Disney, feed the homeless and go shopping at Marks & Spencer. Great fun and like she’s experiencing this stuff with her kids like it’s the first time herself
@@nightingale4786 absolutely ! especially considering they both began in the same industry (disney/nickelodeon); the differing parental relationships are really evident in the relationships each respective actor has with the industry. Whilst Jeanette’s is resentful and negative, Austin’s is admirable and positive. His mother really is a credit to him and I’m glad he acknowledges that in regards to his success :)
@@MalloryNewcomb definitely ! it’s comforting to know that there are people who emerge from the laborious and burdensome child-acting industry with positive experiences and enthusiastic mindsets.
Other actors that come to mind with apparent similar experiences are the Harry Potter kids (Harry, Rupert and Emma). It really highlights the impact of being surrounded by considerate and compassionate adults, as well as positive parental relationships, has on the outcome of the ordeal.
Whilst Austin’s experience appears to be somewhat unique when it comes to this particular industry, it’s rather heartwarming to see the extent to which he credits his mother as a contributor to his success :)

His Mama did something very very very right
This man is a legit gem.
Growing up seeing Austin on shows like Zoey 101 and iCarly, it's legit crazy seeing him on the world stage like this. Getting the opportunity to finally get your shot and show the world why you care about what you do has to be one of the most fulfilling and validating feelings in life. Hope he has a long career ahead of him, he clearly cares about his craft and has a lot of love for what actors do.
he also had a brief cameo in Hannah Montana, also was really good in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
I recognized him from switched at birth, myself!
I have to admit this is my first time watching an interview with Austin and wow he really blew me away! He has such an engaging personality. I’m a new fan!!
He works his charm on everyone, right? You would love his SNL monologue and skits if you haven't seen those.

@@memesouls8653 I’m actually not. The fact I am addressing each of my comments by name should tell you I am a REAL PERSON. Michael > Elvis forever spread the news!!
Everything he says is so genuine and calm...absolutely love him.
I reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally need to stop watching Austin Butler clips. I grow more and more AND EVEN MORE fond of him. LOL His mom raised a thoughtful, present, caring, open gentleman! Job well done. They don't make many like him nowadays.♥
"I feel so safe with you" the exact vibes Sean gives off in every interview
i love so much how austin called it a "conversation" at the end rather than an interview. this is the first video i've really seen of him but he seems like such a genuine, down to earth guy.
i really hope you choose to watch more. this is how he always is and i’ll never get tired of seeing it ❤
I agree. I watched him on the actors roundtable and he came across as a very thoughtful and decent person, who was genuinely interested in listening to the stories of the others around him without any hint of ego at all. He seems to live in the moment and gives those he is with his complete attention without it ever seeming forced or insincere.
I love how almost every time Austin talks about memories he’s had or experiences, it’s always about his mom. I feel so bad about his mother passing when he was 23
it sounds like he so well adjusted and had so much love from his mother. he cherishes those little things so much. Not many people get a fantastic upbringing. Its cool listening to him talk about her so fondly. she would be proud. I was reading in another comment that she passed when he was young, such a same.
He was 23 when he lost his mum.
The same age that Elvis lost his mum.
The stories about his pb&j with his mother hit hard. He seems like such a down-to-earth, wonderful person.
This was one of the most heartwarming genuine episodes of hot ones I’ve seen. Austin seems like such a sweet guy and I love how he talks about his mom and I love how Sean is respectful and actually listens to what Austin’s saying love this one
I'm not really familiar with him as an actor but what a kind soul soft-spoken and stoic definitely a new legend for Hot Ones.
Austin's a rare one! His charms and conduct are just so unique! Dude's a gem!
I love the look on the guests faces when Sean asks his questions. They all look so pleasantly surprised. Sean and his team do an incredible job researching the guests and asking them professional, fun, and thought provoking questions. You don't see that with a lot of interview hosts. Sean seems like such a genuinely good guy, who is genuinely interested in getting to know people. Love him and this show!
What I took from this video is that Austin’s mum sounds like she was an amazing mum and I love he’s got so many fond memories to look back on and treasure with her ❤
When he was talking about the rollercoaster rides with her...I teared up.
This episode warmed my heart. Austin is a discerning, intelligent guy who has a lot of warmth. I enjoyed watching the progression of his connection to Sean. I like how he's a 'show don't tell' kind of guy, especially in the memories he shared of times with his mom.
This man is elegant even when he's burning is tongue off! Shows how well he was raised
