What a genuine guy. His comment "I feel so safe with you" is one that truly pulled on my heart strings. It is prevalent that Austin is such a kind and intentional man. What a great episode and I hope for nothing but the best for Austin.

This man is probably the most passionate actor Sean has yet to interview. You can see his face light up when he starts getting asked questions about acting.
My Top 10: Tom Holland, Shaquille O'Neal, Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Rudd, Austin Butler, Jenna Ortega, Gordon Ramsey, Kevin Hart, Billy Eilish, Kristen Bell. (Notables: Kristen Stewart, Millie Bobby Brown, Bob Saget, Ed Sheeran, Shia Lebeouf, Key & Peele)
I was cracking up at his enthusiasm for making pb & js. Not in a bad way mind you. Just in a jolly wholesome way, that this man was just so thrilled and excited to share his pb&j making techniques. That and he was just pleasant all around. Great person.
Austin Butler has got to be the sweetest most kind and respectful person I've seen on here. His refreshingly genuine stories, laughter and there's just something in his eyes that truly draws out his humanity.
I heard someone say Austin calms down and slows down everything around him and that’s just so true. It’s not just his voice, which is soothing, but it’s the way he tackles every question. No matter how fast or rushed the interviewer is (not talking about Sean), Austin moves smoothly in his own pace. Like he said about holding the pause, he’s not afraid to take a second, really think and give a thoughtful response. Its also the confidence, he may be shy but he’s very sure of what he’s saying because he has already put in the work, he knows he’s not just talking out of his a**. Lots to learn and apply in our own life from him. Also, he really didn’t struggle that much with the spice!
Funny how they liked the pb and j after the wings because everyone tells me I'm gross for eating pb and js with hot cheetos on the side. I feel the sweet and salty pair well with that hot cheeto kick! 🤤
Austin is just so humble and always connects his present back to his past and to his mom. i love that he keeps himself so in the moment with everything. i really hope he wins that oscar, he deserves it
@@assordante2205 although i agree with you, i think in this day and age with how many people are obsessed with being a celebrity/famous the "normal" person vibe gets lost quite fast

The way he always speaks about his mom so warmly. Every memory of her is always so precious and bright. Knowing he lost her so young to cancer always makes me cry when he brings her up. I love his stories each time. Still every single time my heart sends love to him. ❤
I love the chemistry Austin and Sean had. It felt so natural and comfortable but also I feel like I saw a flicker of surprised delight in Austin’s face when he realized that connection. And then he confirmed it at the end with that comment about making a new friend and hoping he stays in his life for a long time. 🤝 Love it. Love them.

i knew austin from his zoey 101 days and it's really heartwarming to see him getting recognition. he seems to be so kind and chill and no pretentious at all. good for him!
Watching this interview made me have a lot of respect for Austin and his genuine love of acting. He seems very kindhearted too and that's always a great quality in a guest.
I’ve been trying to figure out what makes this dude seem genuine compared to other actors. I think the best way to describe it is he speaks to other people like he’s always willing to learn from them. He doesn’t ever seem or act above them.
@@raiusdaltar1483 people who are constantly doubtful of people’s authenticity are projecting what they usually do so this says more about how you’re a fake person so you would think everyone’s like you lol
I've sort of watched the progression of his career (he started out on Disney when I was a kid) and he's just genuine. Not a nepo baby, never had anything handed to him, just a certified genuine good actor and seems like a cool nice guy. Sounds like he truly loved and was close to his mom and my heart breaks for him that he lost her so soon. Truly wish the best for him
@antinsanwo dude like I get it was a part of his life, but do you see any other actors pretending like they can no longer talk normally? It goes beyond his voice he's intentionally still speaking like he's from the 50's.
And he seemed to really enjoy the food too. Not many compliment the taste to the extent that he does(probably cus their crying cus it’s too hot but still😂)
Here's just one of many reasons why this is the best interview show ever: you watch the ones with people that you already like and you just love them even more, then you watch the ones with people you barely know (e.g. Austin Butler) and you discover they're awesome and want to watch everything they're in. Sean brings out the best in people and that's a beautiful thing!
His mom sounds amazing. Only people who have experienced such loss can turn into such emotionally intelligent, humble humans. And that pb&j segment was amazing 😂 one of the best episodes thus far!

I swear this guy is the most courteous, sweet, and authentic celebrity I have ever seen. The way he talks about his mom...my heart. What an incredible human, all wrapped up in a beautiful outer package. Hollywood has a keeper there. 💛
I think why people love Sean is because he is very immersive and asks the good questions, he also makes you feel comfortable which a lot of host don’t do. I’m sure he has made really good friendships through this show 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
One big factor is food... eating with another human does leaps and bounds for connecting with them as sharing food is like... the most primal form of friendship And the spice then knocks their socks off and drops their guard 😈
@@ndnxneh I’ve been watching him since day one and usually don’t comment on any of his videos, however this time around seen how comfortable and completely vulnerable Austin was with Sean I just wanted to comment on the hard work Sean and the HOT ONE teams does to give us this content. Have a good day!
I was never a big fan, but since he played Elvis, I've learned more about this man. He is gorgeous on the outside, but what he has going on inside is rare. He is brilliant, and so endearing, kind, and just a sweet man.
i just finished reading Jeanette McCurdy’s “i’m glad my mom died”, and watching this video it really stands out to me how healthy Austin’s relationship with his mom must have been. It’s so normalised for child stars to have toxic relationships with their parents that it’s so endearing to hear how fondly Austin recounts memories of his mother
yes! i was just thinking this! beyond the fact that he himself wanted to act and his mom simply nurtured that, she also made sure to spend quality time with him that wasn't just work related
Huh, I hadn’t thought of that! Interesting comparison. But it kind of makes sense since Jeanette and Austin were both child actors & Austin was even on iCarly briefly. They both lost their mom which puts them in a rare category of similarity. His mom was the one to really encourage his love of acting because she cared about him. As a human being Lori Butler sounds far more well-adjusted than Jeanette’s mom did. Sounded like Jeanette’s mom had a lot of issues and the way she traumatized her poor daughter is not the only way those issues manifested. I do think given how many child stars turn out “messed up” like having some rebellious period or being severely traumatized and struggling with their identity… it is interesting how Austin did not… and I wonder if a caring, present mom was a big part of that. And just man she sounded like such a fun mom… makes me think of how I read Princess Di always tried to get her kids to go to Disney, feed the homeless and go shopping at Marks & Spencer. Great fun and like she’s experiencing this stuff with her kids like it’s the first time herself
@@nightingale4786 absolutely ! especially considering they both began in the same industry (disney/nickelodeon); the differing parental relationships are really evident in the relationships each respective actor has with the industry. Whilst Jeanette’s is resentful and negative, Austin’s is admirable and positive. His mother really is a credit to him and I’m glad he acknowledges that in regards to his success :)
@@MalloryNewcomb definitely ! it’s comforting to know that there are people who emerge from the laborious and burdensome child-acting industry with positive experiences and enthusiastic mindsets. Other actors that come to mind with apparent similar experiences are the Harry Potter kids (Harry, Rupert and Emma). It really highlights the impact of being surrounded by considerate and compassionate adults, as well as positive parental relationships, has on the outcome of the ordeal. Whilst Austin’s experience appears to be somewhat unique when it comes to this particular industry, it’s rather heartwarming to see the extent to which he credits his mother as a contributor to his success :)

That calm, chill, collected ease and compassion. He's just always really empathetic and pleasant whenever I see him. He just makes you feel chill and relaxed. That feels like the right kind of energy an actor would need to play Bob Ross.
I love the look on the guests faces when Sean asks his questions. They all look so pleasantly surprised. Sean and his team do an incredible job researching the guests and asking them professional, fun, and thought provoking questions. You don't see that with a lot of interview hosts. Super chill, super pleasant dude... also honestly he dug in on a lot of those wings and that was a crazy big last dab. Respect to Butler. Definitely wins the cool under the pressure award.
True that was a big last dab! I watched him on the actors roundtable and he came across as a very thoughtful and decent person, who was genuinely interested in listening to the stories of the others around him without any hint of ego at all. He seems to live in the moment and gives those he is with his complete attention without it ever seeming forced or insincere.

I saw him on a segment on Variety Studio: Actors on Actors where he was paired up with Janelle Monae and had some thoughtful questions. Seems like he provides a safe space too.
I have never seen a show where more celebrities say - thanks for the interview or this was the best interview. That is a true testament to how good this show is and Sean is. 😊😊
What I took from this video is that Austin’s mum sounds like she was an amazing mum and I love he’s got so many fond memories to look back on and treasure with her ❤

I went into this thinking that Austin Butler was just another actor that was cast for his looks. I mean, I almost skipped this episode out of disinterest. How wrong I was. It's obvious that he is well-trained and takes his craft seriously. His ability to verbalise what makes a scene great, and how aware you need to be is spot-on. And Sean has a way of bringing out something in his interviews that very few can match. The set-up with the hot-wings helps, but Sean is a master, and the researchers are so on point with their questions. Bravo.

It's astonishing that in each and every interview, the guest says "God, that's such a good question" at least once. That really speaks to Seans and the whole team's professionalism. I love these interviews.
Sadly, also speaks to the level of journalists that are being pumped out these days... so sad

What's your top ten?
I wanna know the top 10 too lol
Let’s see the top ten
It's the first guest I've seen not freaking out when the interview shakes the last sauce. Very manly of him.
My Top 10: Tom Holland, Shaquille O'Neal, Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Rudd, Austin Butler, Jenna Ortega, Gordon Ramsey, Kevin Hart, Billy Eilish, Kristen Bell. (Notables: Kristen Stewart, Millie Bobby Brown, Bob Saget, Ed Sheeran, Shia Lebeouf, Key & Peele)
Austin talking about memories with his mom while making PB&J is one of the most heartwarming things I have ever heard
What a great guy. He's warm, he's humble, he truly enjoys his craft, and he loves PB & Js. This is my favorite episode.
I was cracking up at his enthusiasm for making pb & js. Not in a bad way mind you. Just in a jolly wholesome way, that this man was just so thrilled and excited to share his pb&j making techniques. That and he was just pleasant all around. Great person.

"Kind staff and delicious coffee." Bet no one has ever answered with that before. I just love to hear Austin speak!

Bravo.
