Hearing the truck fire just made me smile. I did a "will it run" a couple of years ago on a '54 Dodge with a L6 Flatty. Hearing it fire up (finally) was an amazing experience. Thank you.
When I was growing (1963) up I had two of these trucks. One of these was a 1933 pickup BB that had no engine as it was pulled and used for a water pump , it was complete with the box and fenders .I paid $ 5.00 Canadian for it. The 2nd truck was a 1934 pickup which had Flathead V8 but had no box , I was 14 years old and took the body from the 33 and put it on the 34 chassis (with help from my Dad . As the V8 smoked badly we rebuilt it putting cord rings on the pistons - as I forgot to deglaze the cylinder walls it ran ok but still smoked. I drove this truck when I went to school and put about 12,000 miles on it , I still have it and I am doing a restoration on it in my shop .
That was fantastic! Keep he/she/it stock. Can't wait to see more. Keep it coming! Somewhere...somebody...has a barn full of what you need. I see a great story unfolding that should be told!
Now, are you saying your vote for the original banger is because of the sound, dream_living? Cuz that only came from no exhaust and a hole in the head! Fully restored, that banger will sound like just like a broken vacuum cleaner, just sayin... ;-)
Warmed up Banger. I have an Original Condition 32 pick up with the original refreshed 4 cyl banger with downdrafted set up and runs like a champ. Gets so much respect everywhere being kept this way. I own a few flathead powered 30s Fords and my truck is probably my favorite time capsule.
