    With you on the search for the ultimate pick! What you say about the Opus's "narrowness" of sound; not having heard one in the flesh, I'm guessing the presets (or at least the one you demonstrated) lacks some dynamic range, although a few tweaks could bring it closer to what you want. Did you find that the lack of an fx loop is a serious omission? I'd want the Opus for it's preamp capabilities, and without an fx loop, it's probably a no for me from the start...

      Hi man!
      I have found the “narrow” type sound to be present no matter what. Its not a big deal and is nit picking but when your used to a certain stereo image and tweaking it stands out.
      The lack of FX loop i havent found to be a problem at all, and twonotes have addressed the reason why they didnt put one in - however i do think itll be something they regret and wont omit next time. Lots of people need it on a device like this, its just i dont personally.
      Thanks for checking it out - and, the ultem pick continues to be a game changer for me haha.

      @@Paul-D That pick looks similar to the Clayton Ultem guitar pick range.

      Hey! Also owning an opus, I will say that the lack of the fx loop and not being able to button channel switch are the two features that daily I miss. It has a million things you can set, but there are tones that I want but can’t really dial down correctly. What it does have sounds good enough to play with. It’s a product that makes playing more obtainable and therefore fun to me given my current situation in life, but I constantly wish that at least one of these features was there. It’s got some nice sounds and other features going for it, which is why I’m keeping it for now. It won’t be replacing my amp anytime soon in a live situation.

    I love my Opus, places I play with my band require quick set up and minimal gear.
    I tried a Line6 HX Stomp but found myself spending far too much time tweaking presets etc....
    The Opus ive found pretty straightforward, have a Vox & Marshall preset, just flip between the two depending on what type of tune we are playing, and yes great value for the money 👍

      Awesome so you are using the preamp side of it aswell then?

      @tcterry1300 9 месяцев назад

      Yes I am, I don't even use an amp on stage now, just my pedals into the front of the Opus, then straight to the desk, everything is very clear and audible to me.
      Had to tweak it slightly last night as the venue was quite a large one compared to some of the places we had played recently 👍

      How do you find the noise floor live when sending it at good volume? I did notice one of the updates seemed to improve it slightly from first time.

      @tcterry1300 9 месяцев назад +3

      Hi, Yes the noise gate is the only issue for me, and yes it did improve after the update, I use it at a minimal setting, as setting to high can cause you some issues, definitely needs looking at by Two Notes 👍

      @@Paul-D Hi. Thanks for your review. Are there any news regarding the issues with the noise floor? I would like to give the unit a try if the problem is solved or the behavior is improved. Thx!

    Pretty sure the neural dsp stuff sounds wider because it outputs in stereo and has some stereo widening thing on the presets.
    The opus is mono so of course it sounds mono and not wide by default ;)

    I always struggle with amp sims and cab sim/IRs, I use them and will continue to use them for silent recording but I can never seem to get it to sound how it does in the room. I’ve taken to micing up my amp a bit more again recently but that’s just not practical long term.
    Can’t help you on the pick search though, I just use plain old Dunlop pics.
    Nice job getting a record player, I’ve been collecting since 2017 and have a decent collection now.

      Your recent frusciante tones sounded great! Yeh that's what ive used forever too, but this pic is bloody awesome haha. Yeh im looking forward to getting some records, take some time as they are serious dough but part of the fun tracking them down!

    • @djabthrash
      @djabthrash 6 месяцев назад

      The only way to get a "cab in the room" tone is to use a cab in the room ;)
      A guitar tone recorded with a mic in front of cab is not the tone you hear in the room with your ears when using a cab.

    They made maybe THE greatest digital synthesizer in the world (Virus TI2) and then completely abandoned it.

    Picks and records... You're down my alley. I've got roughly 2500 records... Don't ask how many old cds and now digital I've got, you'd likely not believe me. 🤔
    Now that pick I'm fairly certain is a 'pickboy' edge with markings worn off. I am holding one now! Other than those crazy priced bluechip etc picks, I've basically tried them all & they definitely make a difference or at the very least sound different. That's all fun, the issue I started having was needing to have a certain pick for a certain guitar. That's just going over the top, but in theory (at least in my mind made sense. Thank goodness I stopped that sh!t. 🤣
    Geez your playing has improved out of sight - very impressive Pauly. And whilst you weren't playing exactly the same, the tone was almost spot on, so much so that if you were playing in a covers band, the punters would be well pleased.
    Cheers.

      Hi man! Wow that is a serious record collection, like properly impressive. Theres a few record fairs round the local countryside here in January so im hoping to find my first lot there cheaper then buying online haha. In mean time ive ordered up a cleaner kit too.
      thanks for the pick info! Ill look it up - it really does sound like madness but to me it feels and sounds soooo much better then the ones ive always used.
      And thanks for the kind words, appreciated.

      @@Paul-D Haha... I looked, I thought, but didn't buy even tho it was close to 50% off here. I've got my gibson style Les Paul's (all vintage), I figured it would be an upgrade.
      Back to what I was really thinking... New Jag or second hand. Been searching a few months... Close to pulling the trigger on a new mij version. But, there's a few second hand I'm rather keen on. I would love a Johnny Marr for quality and mods, but effectively second hand they seem to go for more than I'm willing to spend. The new mij Jag I'm looking at makes it awkward to look at older jg 66's because there's little price difference.
      I think too many of us are getting sucked in that older, say 10+ years, makes it better. So, used prices seem unreasonable in way too many instances. I don't need to pay extra for chips/dents or inferior hardware. 🤣
      I'll keep you posted, but getting in house pressure as it wasn't that long back I bought my Mustang. Luckily, she just bought a new laptop. My standard line is that if I can't buy what guitar I want now, what age is it acceptable!? 😂

      You need the cleaner and you need to at least clean with a micro fibre brush every time you play. That Thorens is great... Any clues what stylus you have on there?

    • @Paul-D
      @Paul-D  9 месяцев назад

      Ahhh fair enough, it wouldve been a great purchase!
      Its like most things, complex. Certain older models are definitely better then new ones depending on your personal spec preferences. And equally some new models are better then their older models.
      Yeh the Johnny Marr jag is definitely my personal favourite but i could never justify the price of one personally. I would have to be a jaguar man through and through, and for me, there just a nice second guitar sort of thing.
