Great review. Was lucky enough to pick up a P2 and live mine. Really enjoy your videos. Wasn’t a fan of trying to defend Triarc’s lead times though. Nobody else in the industry has 12 month lead times on AR’s. Not even close. If the forums are any indicator, Triarc is BLEEDING customers right now due to their unrealistic lead times and seemingly no concern for fixing it. Just cancelled my own order a month or so ago after waiting 3 months past my given lead time with no communication from them.
Been running SRO in CO for a couple years. One thing I noticed with the P2 is that if I get sloppy on presentation, finding the dot is actually faster because the shape of the thing drives you to the dot- having that fore and aft reference actually helps indexing. So that is a definite positive. A smaller side benefit is a lot less false dots than the SRO when shooting towards low sun angles.
Unfortunately, P2s have been rolling off the supply line A LOT slower than Aimpoint anticipated, which makes these hard to put through their paces. Looking forward to getting a hold of one, however.
@@magnusred2945 No. A lot of people are cancelling orders. I personally didn't order one yet because of the traffic jam of a release. Was waiting to see them in stock or in the wild to pull the trigger.
They are in full production however, they are fulfilling Mil and LEO contracts first due to contract deadlines. Once those are done they will be easily available.
Losing the rear sight is an issue dependent on which pistol you are using. On the Glock and Sig p320 the iron sights can be kept. Also on the safariland holster just move the plastic cover up one notch and it will cover the acro.
Had the same issue with fitment of my Steiner MPS and the Safariland series of holsters. Simple fix. Move the cover to the top mounting hole versus the bottom one. Cover closes fine. Depending on firearm model, actual RDS, etc the draw is sometimes not as smooth due to the way the sight interacts with the interior shape of the cover but it will close. Give it a shot before going the Alien Gear route...
I have a P1 for 2 years now, and I have it on for 24/7 and I two Aimpoint ACRO and both the battery is good from 12-16 months. I don't know how people keep saying that the battery on good for month.
You can move the hood on the Safariland up to those two holes that are above the two holes that they are currently in and it will close and lock in place with no issue.
As far as the losing the rear sight, check out ATEi m, they milled my M&P 2.0 for the 509t with his own rear iron sight forward, in front of the sight and it's a aluminum/metal piece that aligns with the front sight and it's perfect because I personally like the BUIS out of my way with as much clear glass as possible. Would like to see a vid of the Acro P2 vs My favorite the 509t.
I have tried it with sights forward and I don’t personally like especially if the glass gets dirty is near impossible to clean. But whatever works best for you is most important. I compare the 509 and p2 here I’d take the p2 over the 509 if money and availability is no problem. The 509 is the probably the best for the price on the market.
Great video. I have two of these, one on my X5 legion and one on my Gen 5 Glock 17. I love this sight. I would say the design gives the dot a 3D feel like it’s floating in the mailbox rather than being projected. I had to write a review and was holding off watching any other opinions until I was done writing my review. I haven’t turned mine off for 3 months on both and the battery is going strong. 3 things I would like to say: Forget backup irons, learn to shoot guillotine. Secondly, look into the 509tx2, the glass is noticeably better than the first gen 509t. I have astigmatism in my dominant eye and the only optic I've had an issue seeing clearly is the Holosun HS507C-X2-ACSS. I don't know if it's the green (I'm also a little colorblind) or what it is but I get a slight double chevron which mainly effects my accuracy at longer range precision shots.
I know it shouldn’t matter what it looks like but I like the open red dots better than the Mailboxes plus I don’t plan on dropping my gun in the mud!🤯🔫👎🏼
I've found that the 250 MOA circle on the ACSS Vulcan isn't as useful if you're already used to using an RDS on a pistol. I eventually turned it off and used only the chevron then eventually went back to a dot style RDS. The chevron's BDC is probably more useful on a PCC but it does do a little better for astigmatism than the RMR and SRO.
@@bunnyoperator Cool info. I’ve been in one stressful shooting situation. It opened my eyes to how the body works under stress. I like having the additional feedback, not for shooting at targets, but for shooting in unorthodox positions under stress. I loved my ACRO for shooting at the range.

@@limasierraone7107 definitely a Glock - I know we shouldn’t care about how it looks but I do believe you should have something that you dig. I just picked up my staccato P DPO today and put on an RMR I personally like it
@@jimmybrodriguez This is also true
Hitting the range in the Travis 6s I see you homie lol
I need two. One for my personal g19 and the other for my personal 10.5 .300 blackout. Both you and I are LEO. If you could choose the Acro or 509 for duty, which one would you choose? Thanks for your review
I’m not LEO. I would choose the acro for duty for durability’s sake. The new version of the 509t may be better than the old in terms of durability but I haven’t had my hands on one yet. The acro is now my edc optic
@@jimmybrodriguez Thanks for the reply. Sorry about the identity. For some reason, I was under the impression you were LEO. And thanks for your other videos as well. The 10.5 I have is the Admfg. Love their rifles. I have the 12.5 ADM UIC MOD2 too.
It's the green, I promise you. I have the exact same issue. I looked through a 509 ACSS at the shop(red) and it was crystal clear.
Hype from my viewpoint. I returned mine for a refund. The small window and bluish tint to the top of the glass was a no go for me.
My P1 has been on for 6 months on setting 6 and 7, so I have no idea where his one month battery came from!
I am going to change my rdps to the acro p2, once they are back in stock.
Only thing missing would have been a shake awake feature. Other than that.....best RDS on the market.
Shake awake is only a "feature" if your optic has poor battery life.
please mount it to a shadow 2 optic ready or glock mos or czp10c optic
ready.
Our dept just issued these to us on our glock 43's. I love it.
With the Travis Scott Js on nice
Would you get this or the Sig Romeo 2? I want the best optic quality and am still considering a DeltaPoint Pro as I’ve only ever run RMRs
This lol
You should do a follow up review. 2 years later…
Which red dot has the brightest dot to you?
I know it shouldn’t matter what it looks like but I like the open red dots better than the Mailboxes plus I don’t plan on dropping my gun in the mud!🤯🔫👎🏼
Everyone has their preference. Lint and water are more common for most people to obstruct open emitters
I really appreciate your review of the P2 but who in their right mind would put that monstrosity on such a studly gun like the Staccato!!!!
Staccato is 9mm…. Total Teeny tiny pea shooter. 10mm or death.
I really wish they’d make a green dot version.
Can we get some other reticles??? I like the circle dot, 6 MOA, and am interested in the ACSS Vulcan. It’d be cool to see some other options.
@@Libertarian_Neighbor Totally get it. I can certainly help. I've simply found that I didn't need it and could naturally find the dot if I wasn't in-line with it even from non-target shooting positions. I've also tried it on a rifle, over bore and offset, and didn't need the 250 MOA circle there either. It becomes personal preference after the main benefit isn't needed anymore.
Do you by chance know if know if I’d be good using the 25in lb fix it sticks for torque on the Acro?
The manual states 2.2 ft-lb max. 25 in-lb = 2.08 ft-lb.
Nice review! Subbed.
Video starts at 3:50
There’s literal chapter sections that gives you time stamps for everything
Jim, u wearing a seamaster?
Is that a Staccato P or C2 in the video?
why wouldn't you mention one of the most important subject, (IN MY OPINION, ) shake awake!! unless I missed it!
Dumb question. But does this acro p1 and p2 have the same footprint as a 509t
No
I don't know about holosun. I've seen breakages with poor customer service. Also made in china. Personally for me, I'm going for the alternative..
It's $1200 in Australia
Damn, RIP bro. Australia was cooked the moment they caved and gave up the guns
