Dr Dog are so criminally underrated. Great to see them get a mention.
I love their music. It's the kind of music you sing your lungs out to and there's so much energy out of it, almost all of them make you euphoric! And I love their "weirdness", it's such a big mess (haha get it) and that's what makes them so unique. Honestly I don't know why so many ppl hate on them
AGREED!!! And I HATE the "Pop" music of today... Bland and homogenized for your consumption... I love this band though. I'd never heard of them before I saw them last month.... They BLEW ME AWAY!!! I didn't even see them as a pop band. They reminded me of bands in the mid-90's. All out, balls out kind of band.
I didn't know people hated on Grouplove. That makes me sad. They're so unique and have their own awesome sound that I love so much.

they are good, mostly cute. but sometimes i find them to be very juvenile, like it’s some almost 40 something guys doing music for pre teens.

Sigur Ros, Radiohead, Spiritualized, Miles Davis and Bojack Horseman. I should start listening to this band like, right now.
Why? All for bands are top 40 (in Radiohead's case Top 5) artists who sell albums by the hundred thousand. Everyone, myself included, and their dog has those records. EDIT: But yeah, that Spiritualized LP is darn good.

That guy who pulled out sketches of Spain, television and to pimp a butterfly sounds like the guy who's taking his 2nd week of rock101 more seriously than anyone else
Shame, Shame is a great place to start with Dr Dog. An album filled with memorable, catchy songs.

Love this series, hate the comment sections... too many people trying to flaunt their taste in music like a status symbol, some people just need to learn to enjoy the sound rather than make the music about them. In any case I enjoyed this episode, and personally I'd love to see a what's in my bag for July Talk. If you guys ever get the chance. :)
Yes, agreed... The internet has created a beacon of hate, in so many ways. You can say what you want behind a keyboard and not say anything to the person that disagrees with you... I WISH I could debate with some of the people on youtube EVEN over the PHONE!!! That would even do that SOME justice... If you don't like a band, at least give a few good points as to why you don't like them... Not just "They're Hipsters", or "They Suck" or "This is Trendy"... How about why? That's the big one... Somehow, no one can really answer that question...

Built to Spill - Keep it Like A Secret. Love that band, love that album. That song he was speking of Else is my favorite off the album. Can't tell you how many times I've listened to that song and just wept, not so much cause of the lyrics, but because the melody and his voice collectively have such a bittersweet sadness and mournful tone to them I can so feel.
Cage the Elephant - Whats in my bag
The fact she felt so strongly about the Edward scissorhands soundtrack made me automatically tear up.
Marquee Moon is such a great album and band as well!
He was better with the Voidoids in my opinion

Their music is horrid. Their picks, however, were pretty good. I just think they're abit pretentious. They're the first band that pops into my head when someone says "Oh, you mean that indie band cliche, the one that I don't really like, what's the band?"
Kritzberg I've been listening to them a while, and been to a few live shows. honestly I think I like them more than their music lol. their live performances are awesome, one of the best I've seen, but their music is something that you have to have a weird taste to like. they do have a few that almost kind of made it to mainstream

Let's see...in the past year he has gotten married, had a baby, put out a new record and did a tour.....so I'd say he's been a little bit busy.
***** I'm sure he did listen to records, maybe just not that one. It's not like it was the biggest record of the year. A lot of people didn't like it as much as the older Tame Impala records.

Amoeba It actually would be incredible! With the release of his late 2016 album The Ship and the record that came out, not too long ago, I have a feeling he will be hopefully be in the States more often. If he still lives in the U.K, it may be a bit difficult.. who knows

themadbatter Hey man, I'm not big into their albums as a whole, but they have some great songs. 'I'm with you' is a good example. Their earlier albums have some goodies too. ( Gold Coast, Slow, Spun, Close Your Eyes And Count To Ten) etc. It's probably their label.
