Hi 😊 Kasey Chambers is a national treasure of ours 😊 I’m Australian and would consider this song by Kasey Chambers to fall under the Country music genre. The ARIAs are the Australian national music awards. 😊 I love your reaction videos 😊

Definitely country music with a folky influence, but this song also reached No 1 in the Australian pop charts.

Kasey is virtually her own genre. Her songs and albums regularly make it to the popular music charts so it doesn't really mean a lot to call her music just country or just folk. Australia, it has to be understood, is a far smaller music market than most other western countries so for most songs to be successful and popular they probably have to be popular across many genres. Being only popular in one genre probably wouldn't sell enough records to make it successful. Most successful Australian music artists have had successful hit songs in at least two or more genres. Take Keith Urban for example, he has been very successful both in Australia and the US, and although his songs are generally classed as country they are also quite popular in rock and pop circles.

Yea the ARIA'S are like the Aussie version of the AMAs or Grammy's. John Farnham's performance of "The Voice" at the ARIA'S was my all time favourite.

I'm a huge country music fan! I would call this folk/country.

'Ain't no Little girl' - live highlights her vocal and the passion you saw on Lose yourself. This was recorded in Tennessee and does have a lot of Janis about her.

Yeah, that would fall into the country genre here but the country genre here does also lean toward folk as well. It's not as heavily defined as it is in the USA. Many people consider Kasey to be country but she is a classic folk artist for me. I know this song won't be your speed but it would be a damn shame if you never heard it because it's a hell of a song and probably the one that most will know of Kasey as well.
Give it a listen, you ain't got noth'n to lose :)

Kind of country but she probably fits more into a king of 'Indie rock' genre at times

As an Aussie I do not really listen to country music. Feels like a small niche in Australia where rock music is more what I feel we do here and what I would listen to mostly. I think of Tamworth in New South Wales and the region being the centre of the small niche in Australia that into country music. So artists like Kasey Chambers and Keith Urban I rarely listen to and think of Keith Urban as probably more well known in USA as country music is a lot bigger in USA and with way bigger population the market must be huge there. I think of folk music more akin to Paul Kelly here. In USA also consider Jewel as folk music. Can see why Jewel would come up as a little similar as her and Kasey Chambers seem like artists that wear their heart on the sleeve with their music. I think of the name Kernaghan as country music here. Really not heard his music but certainly Steven Kernaghan from a decade or two ago seemed the name connected with country music here. Even think I seen the cowboy type hat set up, that very American. But the few times I travelled through Tamworth it feels like another country within this country in terms of what people into there.
