True and she was stunning that night, emotional & visceral! And if I’m not mistaken, that was her dad Bill on the guitar with her as usual, sharing the musical journey as the family have always done. What a special night for Kasey, so richly deserved❤️❤️❤️
This was a special night honouring Casey, so the other three singers held back on their emotional output out of respect, and to showcase the honoured one. They were more in the role of backing singers or just an introduction for their good friend and fellow artist.
She was raised with the passion of music all around her in the openness of central Australia. I saw her dad perform once. The power went out and as everyone looked at each other wondering g what to do, he walked back grabbed an acoustic guitar and continued with the show. Amazing family.
The first 3 singers. Kate Miller-Heidke - people either love her or hate her. I can live without her. Amy Sheppard - never heard of her. Missy Higgins - you reacted to her with Tim Minchin playing piano. Kasey outsung them all.
@@emmawilliamson6885 Thank you - Yes. I'd want to hear Amy Sheppard sing her own stuff before I'd make a judgement about her vocals. And remember too the other vocalists all have DECADES of experience over Emma. Let's go easy on the Fledglings - they're not going to fly as high as they could if they get knocked off the perch too soon.
You really need to check out the songs in full. Not Pretty Enough was released in 2001,and was Kasey's commentary on the reluctance of mainstream radio stations towards not playing her songs; Ain't No Little Girl was released in 206/7 a few years of writing it, it answers the questions from Not Pretty Enough. Kasey said that Ain't No Little Girl was her first song that "wrote her", and the glue of her life which she says is a lot of glue.
Kate Miller-Heidke is a powerhouse opera/pop crossover artist, Missy Higgins is a legend, Amy Sheppard is only really just starting out compared to the others, but her voice is fantastic (maybe not in this, but listen to Sheppard’s stuff) and of course Kasey is amazing. All come from different genres of music but all are wonderful in their own wheelhouses. You really need to check out “Rattlin’ Bones” - an acoustic song Kasey sang with then husband Shane Nicholson. Kasey’s vocals in that song are haunting.
Sorry, the song I'd like to see you react to is, 'cry for baby Jesus', the video with Kasey singing with Paul Kelly 😊. It's when she was very young and it's a lovely song🌹🌹🌹
Hi Nick The first singer on I’m I Pretty Enough ( tribute it’s Kasey Chambers hit song ) was Kate Miller-Heidke the classically trained indie pop opera singer . You done 2 reactions of hers You’re The Voice ( Cover ) and her Eurovision entry Zero Gravity . I’ve got a Patreon request of Kate Miller-Heidke in waiting for you to do , her hit song The Last Day On Earth . I don’t know who was the second singer the third was Missy Higgins another indie pop singer I’m pretty sure that done a reaction to Missy .. I’m not real big Kasey Chambers fan but admire her passion and conviction . Kate Miller-Heidke , Missy Higgins and Kasey Chambers are touring Australia together at moment .
Yes, I agree with you. I didn't know what was going on with this video when it first started, as I thought it was supposed to be Kasey Chambers. So I was confused as to what was going on?? No disrespect to the other singers, as I can't sing for shit! But yeah for me when Kasey came on, she can sing, love her and a very powerful performance here!
Aria is pronounced ah - ree - ah. It is a clever play on words it stands for Australian Recording Industry Awards as well as being a solo vocal piece in an opera
Its pronounced R E A for Aria. Glad you are seeing her in a better light you werent too keen when you saw her with the other people. Missy Higgins was the third singer at the start.
In Oz we pronounce it (said as one word) R-E-Uh (ARIA). The first singer was legend Kate Miller-Heidke (Eurovision fame). Just goes to show how Aussie singers from all genres support each other: Kate, operate background / Kasey, country.
I remember going to A Kasey Chambers gig with my Mum and dancing in the isles with Kasey's Mum. For me and a lot other people her appeal is in the fact that she could be any one of us because her voice is so unique. Not for everyone sure but she has bucket loads of talent. Also second hearing her singing 'I Still Pray' live with Paul Kelly to make your emotions sway. ruclips.net/video/LS4pPRehBIc/видео.html
Australia's Janis! & THEN Some!!! That's our Kasey -YES; brilliant authentic passionate unique singer / songwriter. You nailed it -CONVICTION absolutely the right word. Time to head down the Kasey rabbit hole! 😃
Kasey is phenom, been a huge fan for 25 years now, she changed my musical life! but Vanessa Amorosi and Karise Eden are the Aussie Janis Joplin flame carriers
Very Aussie girl...love her....unique family upbringing. Not the best choice of video to show off the vulnerability of the song and her unique voice...best by herself/original
The irony is the song is about country music singers not being played on commercial radio stations. The song was at no.1 in the Australian Billboard charts for about 6 weeks.
I think the 3 early singers were trying to be understated. It's Kasey's night... Being inducted into the Hall of Fame... If they were trying to out sing her at her own song it would be pretty poor form.
And no doubt you shall earn a living , and no doubt once in a while you would hook a brother or sister up who didn't have much cash, but that can't be the norm.
I know exactly what u mean with the first singers verse, she sounds like every singer that has hit the charts the last 10 years. No emotion, conviction or effort in the vocals, todays singers are boring!!
this isn't the best version of this great song, I would suggest her live version recorded at Willie Nelson's studio, - "the Luck Sessions" when she released 'Aint no little girl' it was largely overlooked by radio. She released 'Not pretty enough' as a reaction to the slight, which went onto chart success
I love Kasey, her voice is so real but I don't like this version. I'd love you to react to, 'cry like baby Jesus', there is a video of her singing it with Paul Kelly. It's a beautiful song. Kasey is so down to earth and real😊❤️🎶🌏🪐🍀🌕🙏🦋🇦🇺 👣🦘🌹🙏😊❤️❤️❤️
Sorry to break it to you, but it's none of those. ARIA is pronounced Ar-ee-ah and, as with any Aussie pronunciation, say it as a single syllable, no gaps, no spaces.
Please don't be a wander...remember 20cents as kids for some people was 2 weeks of working....in converted to USA dollars 20 cents is a month of not starving too much...remember you are privileged yo.
SO disappointed with this version. This is too intimate and raw a song to be fully appreciated when sung my multiple artists, especially in such a lack lustre way.
Great song but this isn't the best I've heard it sung, Casey is great on her own and the original release of this song was so much better than this, this was a bit bland at the start👏,
ARIA: pronounced Ah-ree-ah. :-) I have no idea who the second singer is. She's not famous. And definitely not very good either - very amateur - daughter of someone influential who paid them to have her sing perhaps? Sorry, but most very amateur musical theatre singers are better than she is - without a mic. I thought the third singer really wasn't good either, whoever she is. The first singer, Kate Miller-Heidke is actually quite famous and usually very good. She can sing a lot more extensively than this little bit. She's actually well classically trained, vocally. This just didn't show her off well. But I suspect she's probably not your style. She is very much an alternative/off-beat music singer, singing strange and weird alternative songs (not a judgement, just a description that would relate to most people) - not usually a mainstream belter or emoter. She's an acquired taste. As for the song, "Am I Not Pretty Enough", I think that was written by Casey when she was trying to get into the business. Apparently someone utter arsehole told her she was not pretty enough to be a singer. I don't apologise for the swearing - well deserved description of anyone who would say such a thing.
The blonde woman who first sang is Kate Miller Heidke, trust me you need to check out her other songs. She presented Australia at Eurovision. the three first ladies aren't singing their own song.
Love Kasey. This was a very powerful performance. Great singer and songwriter. Her debut song, The Captain, is one of my favourites.
The Captain is also one of my favourites 👍
This was the night of her induction to hall of fame. A very emotional performance for her.
True and she was stunning that night, emotional & visceral! And if I’m not mistaken, that was her dad Bill on the guitar with her as usual, sharing the musical journey as the family have always done. What a special night for Kasey, so richly deserved❤️❤️❤️
Wow, never heard our Casey like that! Simply Spectacular! 🤩💜

This was performed at my mums wedding then funeral 😔 beautiful singer and song 🎵 ❤️
Kasey’s song “The Captain” was selected by Steven Van Zandt and used on the Sopranos as a closing song.
that first lady singing was Kate Miller Heidke shes really good in her own element, I love her song last day on earth
Love Kate!!! 💖💖💖
I also love the song last day on earth
Love, love, love your reaction. You are always so fair and so knowledgable. My opinion?- Kasey = legend. Enough said really.
The first 3 singers.
Kate Miller-Heidke - people either love her or hate her. I can live without her.
Amy Sheppard - never heard of her.

@@linmonash1244 Well said. That was very respectful. We would need to give Amy another chance before deciding.
You need to see the original it’s not the same as this . The early version of Casey was gut wrenching
OMG I've never heard Kasey hit those high notes before. Spine chilling 👏👏👏
Man, Kasey is pure badass! 🔥

To be fair the other singers were there to support, not out shine Casey. Same as a support band has less volume and less lights!
this is a real oldie this one.
It’s one her singing with Keith Urbsn at the Arias

The irony is the song is about country music singers not being played on commercial radio stations. The song was at no.1 in the Australian Billboard charts for about 6 weeks.
Dunno who the second one was, but first was Kate Miller-Haedtke, third Missy Higgins I think.
Amy Sheppard, Kate Miller-Heidke & Missy Higgins

Casey Saved that performance wow 😮
Dad (Bill) on Guitar!

I love her singing "not pretty enough" so much, so pretty disappointed that part wasn't sung by her at all.
The second half was great, the first ok…maybe a bit overblown at the end. Beautiful music
