Training as a libero this season. Want to improve the basics, especially over this summer. Thanks so much for this video, I dont have anyone at home to help or practice with me so this is an awesome video!
if anyone’s a beginner and worried about not making their school team i promise it’s just the nerves talking! i practiced drills and made the volleyball team two years in a row, about to try out for my third :) even beginners can be great! good luck everyone whos nervous
I'm looking at this and trying harder and harder the more I watch this and its slightly harder when your over weight and active people think I'm lazy and dont do nothing but I really do love play sports exceptionally vollyball I really do love it and I'm going to go over my limits till I get it😌😌
Thank you very much for these exercises and skills I highly admired you and applied them in special games and succeeded because you are creative and winning is to. thank you. I am from Iraq.
I like your video, Iris. I'm a P.E. teacher in Miami and I'm including your video in a list of skills for my students, some of whom have Autism Spectrum Disorder. Thank you for making your video short and easy to follow. I hope you make more.
Hi, thank you so much for your comment! I hope this video is helpful to your students. I do plan on making more videos like this, especially during this quarantine time. Please stay tuned :)
Thank you so much for this tip! I’m planning on trying out for my school’s libero for volleyball and I really need to work on my ball control and passing. This helped a lot :)
Hello! Can you recommend drills to streghten the arms? I'm new to volleyball and I want to play next year. I'm practising receiving and ball control all by myself but after minutes of playing.. I got bruises and it really stings inside my arms when the ball hit my arms
Maybe try arm pads to start with, and when your comfortable take them off, but wear a sweater when practicing, and after your comfortable with that, practice with nothing, I’m a beginner too so i understand the struggle lol
Idk what's wrong with me but I couldnt keep the ball in straight upward way, it's always gonna project towards my direction. We have to do 50 of this next meeting and I could only get to 20. I also notice that the ball always lands on either one of my arms more instead on equally both.
Hi there! I specifically did not want to break my platform for the purpose of teaching beginners to not be "lazy" with their arms, but rather to understand the importance of having a locked and solid platform to contact the ball with.
I’m a beginner to volleyball, but I was wondering, which part of my arm do it hit the ball on? When I hit it with a bone on my thumb, it goes higher and I have more control, and when I hit it with my forearm, it doesn’t go as high and I don’t have a lot of control.
the forearm is preferred, and as for the control and height, you get better if you don’t try to fight the ball back when it’s falling back down. try to accept the ball a bit more into your grasp, then receive it and push it back upwards. im not really good with words, but i hope this helped 😭
I need a little help so I did the same thing as you did in the video but the ball goes backwards and hits my head or goes sideways but my platform and shoulders a straight. Any tips?
Your forearms in general, but just remember that when you pass more with the bony parts of your arms (wrists), your platform becomes more rigid, causing unpredictability in your pass result. Passing on the "meat"/muscles of your platform gives more of a stable surface to pass off of. Hope that helps!
Hi! Ball contact should definitely be on your forearms, the space between your elbows and wrists. Too close to your elbows OR too close to your wrists can cause contact issues, so try to find a space in between to where you can repeat good contact the ball to make it go to target.
I’m 5’2, really small, and have never really played volleyball before. I’m really interested in the sport and want to try out but I don’t know what position I would play or if I would even be good at it. Do you have any advice?
I would recommend the libero (the one who specializes in passing and digging) position, but you could also be a really good outside hitter (the one who blocks, passes, digs, hits and sometimes sets) , middle back (the one who hits, passes and digs) , or setter (the one whose main job is to set the hitters). If you want to play libero, work on passing, defending/serve receive, setting, (if you live in America, serving) and covering. If you want to play outside hitter, then work on work on passing, serving, defending/serve receive, covering, hitting, blocking, your vertical, and setting. If you wanna be a middle back, work on passing, defending/serve receive, setting, hitting, your vertical, serving and covering. Remember to just have fun! Some things may suit you more than others! Good luck :) ( Here’s a link for picking your position :) ruclips.net/video/CfL9s-XJx9k/видео.html )
Hi there! I think it all depends on how YOU are as an athlete. If you're small and fast I think libero or setter would be great options. If you can jump high, can handle lots of responsibility then you can try to be an outside or opposite hitter as well. :) It's all about knowing your limits, OR you can even try any position to get a feel for what you will truly excel in, in the future. Hope this helps and I hope you try out for a team! :)
I'm so excited you want to play! People who can be a GREAT passer or setter will most likely find themselves on the court more. It all depends on you, but I suggest first learning how to pass a volleyball. Hope this helps :)
Need to improve so I can be on the HighSchool team, it’s gonna take a lot of work (O_O) I’m going into HighSchool this year so let’s hope I improve on my skills, but I actually suck.....like bad(@_@)
@@ani6561 Hi. This video was meant to teach self-passing and understanding the platform and angle to have decent ball control. I do have a video of passing from a ball machine that demonstrates different angles of my platform while passing tougher balls. Thanks!

oh damn, i'm pretty good at volleyball and didn't make my schools team :/
Showing the movements in circle is really good, as it allows us to watch the body position through out hitting the ball
I will enter a volleyball clinic this coming summer i hope my practicing will be able to improve my volleyball skills
I play on my school's volleyball team and I've improved so much through practice and your vids! Thanks so much!
That is so great to hear! Congrats and always have fun while getting better :)

How do i make my arms not bleed
POV:You just got your first volleyball
Consider working towards breaking/ reforming your platform in between each bump.
Hi there! I specifically did not want to break my platform for the purpose of teaching beginners to not be "lazy" with their arms, but rather to understand the importance of having a locked and solid platform to contact the ball with.
Please make a video about 5-1 roation system serve and receive.
Amazing skills
Hi! I have a question, where would you bump the ball at? Your wrists or the forearm?
Forearm
the forearm 🥰
I’m a beginner to volleyball, but I was wondering, which part of my arm do it hit the ball on? When I hit it with a bone on my thumb, it goes higher and I have more control, and when I hit it with my forearm, it doesn’t go as high and I don’t have a lot of control.

What volleyball are you using?
Should you always bend your knees or no?
Julian Lev yes , always stay low while passing
Always engage your whole body and get in a comfortable athletic position that allows you to be able to move efficiently.
i have a solo drills test for today in my pe class and i suck at volleyball, wish me luck..
I need a little help so I did the same thing as you did in the video but the ball goes backwards and hits my head or goes sideways but my platform and shoulders a straight. Any tips?
Is it normal for your arms to hurt while trying to bump?
Yes
Beauty and smart :)
I'm a boy in seventh grade, and want to practice hard for when I get into high school.
This helps!
haikyu inspired me and now I’m here
you’re not supposed to pass with just your arms because you have less ball control
Yes u use your legs to get it higher and for control
Thanks 🏐🏐
Nice
👍🏻
Do you hit the ball with your hands, wrist or arms??
Hi there, contact should be on your forearms (the space between your wrists and elbows). Hope that helps!
So do you pass the volleyball with your flat platform you’ve created, or your wrists?
Wrist
Valerie Sullivan the space between your hands and your elbows (so yes your wrists)
Your forearms in general, but just remember that when you pass more with the bony parts of your arms (wrists), your platform becomes more rigid, causing unpredictability in your pass result. Is it supposed to hit your forearms or closer to your wrist
