It's always a good day when MJD posts
Indeed.
Indeed it is!
he makes my day
i strongly agree

The Blue Floppy Disk
Michael = Oh a blank Floppy disk, kinda mysterious
Me = SAVE BUTTON
Be careful! That australian copy of Windows XP might be upside down.
XD
LMAO
Epic joke XD
Just hit Ctrl+Alt+Down and it should be fixed :)
Haha! I should have done that!
Netbooks are dope.
No, you _are_ dope.
Yes
Seconded. I just restored a Packard Bell DOT-S I had laying around in a closet and surprisingly, the battery lasts 2 hours.
Love your content, Michael.
I wake up every night and stay up for an hour or so, because of a private problem, but your videos keeps me entertained and relaxed until I can go back to sleep.
Damn sounds like a creep is stalking u bro keep a glock at ur nightstand
@@Jon844W fortunately, it is not a stalker.
@@MINI_91 What is it then?🤔 We are curious
@@andrewgaming1117probably because of a private problem
@@happygames9757 Oh yea if it's private i won't ask xd...
4:17 Never enough copies? OK. I will include a copy of Windows XP in my box.
I have the same netbook! Its actually a pretty nice looking and feeling netbook! Very good keyboard for the size honestly :) And this laptop in fact has NOT a pcmcia slot at all, its an expresscard slot, which is very rare for a netbook to have. And for the wpa2 problem on this netbook, you can use boingo wireless, its a 3th party client for managing wireless connections and that program does support wpa2 and its very easy to use
Woah long comment I'll like it
@@treasurechestgame That's a long comment? :p
Recycled a very similar netbook (Compaq Mini 900) a few years back... it had GPU issues but in hindsight I shoulda just sent it to MJD!
Fun fact: the HP Mini 1000 and Compaq Mini 900 are the same series of netbook but with different branding. However the Compaq didn't have ExpressCard and had a proprietary video connector instead of full-size VGA.
I’m a simple man, I see Michael upload, I clicked video! Love it every time!
As always another great video. When you said and now the star of the show is this power adapter, I almost died laughing. Keep up the great work my friend.
lol
Back in high school, I had an HP Mini 2133, which had a VIA C7-M ULV CPU @ 1.6 GHz. The exterior looks exactly the same as the HP Mini 2140 you got.
Thanks for being a role model to an aspiring youtuber such as myself!!!
This channel is just a treat!!
The touchpad isn't tiny, it's cute
But still too annoying to play minecraft with it
@@mariofire9515 Absolutely, but isn't any touchpad too annoying to play Minecraft? xD
Wondering how big your collection is and where do you store it all.
Trash bin.
he stores it in his pants lol
Have you ever heard that your "hand talking" is very good? Reminds me of another one of my favorite channels: This Old Tony.
Wow, never thought I would meet someone who also watches This Old Tony here! Do you also know the channel Windergatan?
@@skycubix8943 Yes, I'm a huge nerd, so I also watch Windergatan. I was actually introduced when he did a collab with TOT. I miss TOT and hope he will start uploading again soon. He actually taught me a lot about machining (and sometimes welding) that I used IRL while I was in grad school.
i agree, he also reminds on LGR, they have similar ways of making videos
@@retroaudis ah LGR... Another man with a radio voice talking about nerd stuff. Love this RUclips genre.
@@retroaudis I've recently been watching a lot of both and sometimes I forget which of the 2 I'm currently watching
Wow, no error installing anything. Who is this Michael? I want the old always-ran-into-error Michael! 😂
@Jimi Hendricksson erh ... sorry for that ...
Funny.
I miss netbooks :( I miss being young
So mainly you miss being younger. Netbooks were so crappy if you wanted to do anything beyond word processing and the like (with a small keyboard...). so...
I love viewer donations, Keep It Up!
Now I'm very interested in those CDs and floppies, can't wait for those videos, I love these kind of videos of seeing old things and exploring.
One thing that pushed XP's shelf life to last was SP3 and the switch to WPA2, i have worked with a lot of old PCs with SP2 and they are an ass to update faffing with USB drives and burnt discs, definitely convenient to hook it to a network with SP3
I have that exact netbook except I put 7 on mine and mine is also I limited edition one it was made for a painting company or something, and I also have that same exact XP pro pamphlet and I got mine brand new from Amazon which is pretty rare because they don’t sell it new on Amazon anymore
Was it the Vivienne Tam edition? IIRC, it's colored red with artwork on the cover and came with a custom version Stardock Windowblinds for themes (it's also thankfully available on HP's driver page).
for that PSU for the Australian PC, you should just be able to swap the power lead out with a standard US plug (the one with the mickey mouse 3 prong end at the end into the power adapter) as most laptop PSU's are multi voltage
Was thinking the same, I guess he happened to have the adapter at hand and all spare cables in some more distant storage space. Bit of laziness going on.
@@BilisNegra we all a bit lazy when we want to get something booted, first thing we can grab to do the job is the winner
@@jjjacer Well, I do so, too.
Wait... Didn't we have another Michael MJD video yesterday? This is marvelously nuts!
Woah are we getting daily uploads now?
Windows XP happy anniversary! Thank you for growing me up
Friend uses a lot of these netbooks as little travel PCs... mostly for watching video while he's stuck on an airplane. Been looking for one for myself... looking forward to seeing it in action.
It is good to see more videos about Windows XP.
Awesome video as always, mate! I would like to see what’s on one of those discs in a future video.
That’s a nice looking netbook, reminds me a lot of the HP Mini 110 here in Canada, which looks really similar in layout and design but is all black and doesn’t have an ExpressCard slot, still runs Windows XP well.
Hey I have the hp mini and I’m also Canadian lol
awh that laptop is soo cute :) yes im looking forward to videos with it hehehe
I had a hp netbook and used it till last year running good ol Windows xp
7:45 YOOO THAT WAS MY CHILDHOOD LAPTOP FROM WHEN I WAS 4-5 YEARS OLD
I used a Latitude D610 as my daily driver for years. Still have it and the D600 I used before it. Both still functional.
you know my sense of humor is broken when i end up non-stop cackling every time you used the WinXP logon sound lmao
I kinda want a 2021 version of this nextbook, even though we have things like iPads and 12' notebooks / chromebooks
Gpd pocket?
dude that net book is so cool, I have an EliteBook 6930p along the line of the hp books, there so awesome
I chuckled at the site of the D610. I have a D810 I saved from recycling with a Pentium M 760 Radeon X600 and it's running Zorin OS 15.3 Lite on it. The batteries good, brand new drive, and memory is maxed out at 2GB. It's a pretty lovable laptop, back when "desktop replacements" were still commonly marketed. I'll be selling that bad boy soon and will hate to see it go.
You know that power bricks are often multi-voltage and just have the cable for the region included with it? You likely have the 3-circle plug around somewhere, HP and Dell both use it even in modern laptop and AiO power bricks.
I still have that very same netbook. It had gorgeous industrial design. Only problem was screen resolution, specs, battery life and that it ran too hot after a short while.
Windows XP is more Superior in Netbooks than Windows Vista and Newer
Netbooks, I have one, they didn't browse the web very well or most other things, A SSD helped but, not by a ton.... and XP rocked !
ah, that netbook just looking good.
I have an idea:fill the registration card and send it to the address in the registration card and see what happens 🤐😬
I have this EXACT same netbook, with all the original CDs and drivers. The battery actually lasts a few hours which is nice
I real love to see that mjd post video daily
He opening all that but I'm happy with my sealed NT 4.0 floppies and NT 4.0 in-sleave disk
Ugh! I remember those touch pads with the buttons on the left and right .
I had the Via version of this netbook, it was even worse than the Atom one! That's an ExpressCard slot btw.
The thing I always hated about it was the size - even though it was only 8.9" it was as wide and thick as the 10.1" MSI Wind U100 which was nicer to use (and could boost to 2ghz). I also had (and still have) the Dell Mini 9 which was much smaller.
I have a VIA varient, I actually kind of enjoy it.
@@aftertheelectrike1847 The HP was actually my second Via netbook, the first being an Elonex Webbook which had the build quality of those cheap windows CE netbooks that used to appear on eBay.
The Via was ok, just didn't run Vice City as well which was a major concern!
@@MegaTerryNutkins Yeah, I think the GPU was the worst part of it. I've been doing tests on the C7 and the Chrome9 HC IGP, and it can only do very basic Direct X 9. Anything more complex than a basic 3D tasks and the Chrome9 crashes or struggles. 0.35 FPS in the PerformanceTest 8 DX9 Basic test, 1% of that of a mere HD 6450.
That and the GPU completely destroys support for Linux, can barely get a framebuffer. Windows is the only option, and it doesn't do well.
Classic netbook specs.
I remember my Lenovo s10-3 well, it was a great machine albeit I ditched the preinstalled Vista Basic for Ubuntu right under the Christmas tree, back in 2009.
Whats funny is that the official realese date of XP is the same realese date of Team Fortress Classic, both being August 24 (not the same year, but still the same birthday)
nice flip alarm clock love it
3:25 isn't that around the time that post office raised their rates? Which caused a lot of people to think that the post office was going to die.
Good video. I have the precursor to the 2140 which was the HP 2133. Running a VIA 1.6ghz chipset, it was similar in build to the 2140 but with a higher resolution screen, smaller 8.9" display, and better speakers.
It also came with Windows Vista Business out of the box and I eventually installed Windows 7 on it which it ran relatively well.
Unfortunately, the 2133 suffered from overheating issues which caused a number of them to fail prematurely. My original 2133 which had the 1.2ghz VIA chipset failed due to this but the one I have is still operational.
Literally have been messing with a compaq (hp) mini for the past couple days except mine shipped with windows 7 and is painfully slow
I installed Windows 10 on a eMachine netbook (HHD, intel atom, 1gb ddr3) and yeah, let’s just say it wasn’t a pleasure to use
What about Linux?
@@CouldBeMathijs I knew he was coming
@@fmefw9892 If I hadn't done it someone else would've...🤣
oh yeah, a fellow compaq mini owner!
Although, mine did come shipped with windows XP… then again I got it as a first computer when I was like 5 years old
XP turned 20 yesterday, I turned 21!
0:34 YOOOOOO I HAVE THIS HP MINI BEFORE but now is broken, and is running windows 7 really well.
There is a lot of little stuff people did to make these machines more usable be it custom drivers for the IGP as well those Crystal HD cards for playing HD content without completely bogging the cpu down. The cool ones to collect have the Nvidia ION chipset with its own vram though still very slow in gaming it is a big step up from the norm with these netbooks.
Video idea: see how far you can update/upgrade Windows on it, like you did whit the 98PC.
Gets better every time
That's a cool little clock, where can I buy it?
Is there a way I can get a copy of the hp pavilion dvd? I am restoring a hp pavilion 6535 windows 98... thanks
Hey Michael, you should do a video on your entire Microsoft collection. Would be cool to see all software, hardware, documentation and all other Microsoft stuff you have in one video including a final picture/overview of all stuf in a big pile/stack 😄
Love your videos Michael!!! When I see you’ve posted a new video I get so excited
sad they don't make netbooks anymore. I only had the Asus , Asus x205ta and Asus E200HA......., but they were awesome!
When it comes to laptop batteries I've had pretty decent luck that most from that era will take some charge depending on the cell type. My least favorite is those lithium polymer cells often used in higher end power books and just about every macbook in the 2000s that would bloat often causing some damage.
I’m very lucky with batteries actually, I brought a iBook Clamshell in 2017 and the battery still holds for 3hours and last week a PowerBook 1400 and the battery hold for an hour that’s kinda impressive
HI, i have a 1/2 brother to this, a HP mini 102, very similar machine and the same Intel Atom N270 / 1.6 GHz
the laptop still works today, the only fault is the battery does not hold a charge, the screen is very good to watch , just to small a size for me without glasses.
The hard drive does feel slugish, and these days for good internet use and youtube it runs Linux Mint 17
Overall a well made machine, still feels sturdy and was my work laptop for 3 years when new then it was given to me and became the wifes daily driver for 6 years ??
Keep doing 4K videos! I have a 1440p monitor and many 1080p videos don't look good on my monitor!
I have an HP mini 1000, looks very similar to this netbook. Mine currently has Linux on it :-)
Wonder what happened to that Compaq Portable you got...
Windows XP notebook is my saving grace, the best blessing I've ever received, the beacon of my life, a sine from above, the holy grail, miraculous occurence, godsent, divine angel.
At 8:48, what's that little indent next to the USB port? It looks deliberate, but too small to be much use?
i have the exact same offical windows xp disc
netbook is at 7:33
Great video bro! keep it up!
I only have one copy of XP but it's better than none, right?
I have the hp mini 110 1100 disassembled and running lubuntu
Man I would love a review of that power adapter though....
I appreciate your effort especially on editing u just down hours to edit I know it cause I'm practicing to edit done videos I appreciate the time you put into your videos
I loved this video

I agree you can never have to much xp copies
Try and edit an entire video on the hp mini
Haha your very lucky to have a working hp mini.
I have a very broken hp mini keyboard and trackpad does not work it cannot load a os and more problems.
If I was born in 2009, I definitely would've got this netbook with SuSE Linux Enterprise.
Also, a lot of netbooks came with Linux at the time. People wanted what they were familiar with Hence Windows XP.
:OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO unboxing :)
I connected a Xp machine (core 2 duo 1 gb probably 1 stick) to wpa2 internet which I suprised
When I bought my HP 2133 Mini-Note in 2008 it came with Windows Vista. Let's just say it didn't run very well.
Oh hey, I think I have that netbook, or at least a very similar one!
Yes my favourite channel uploaded
I love your videos!!!
Yo tengo ese PC y jamás pude instalar Windows 10 correctamente por problemas de drivers
Can you upload all of the cds to archive
some of those hp laptops came with linux too
"Windows xp netbooks with 1gb ram and 1.6GHz" Yes mine is a Lenovo S10 netbook with all the same specs, except the 2gb of ram I upgraded
Recently I repalce a new hard drive contain windows 10 32bit and works just fine... except the edge browser takes a lot of time to load some pages.
You should use Windows 8.1 instead
So many disk!
Im from Australia wow
