  • Listen, I had no idea how hard this was going to be. I tried several different processes in this video and a couple more after the camera was off.
    come along as I work through this job. it honestly had me stumped. but through a little trial and error I was able to achieve a finish that the customer was happy with.
    The brightner is from purple power.

    a white or light grey scotch brite blending wheel would have been a good start for that stainless.

    There was a big change after you sprayed it with glass cleaner

      Yeah the brightener definitely broke down that film on the little pipes.

    I think it’s 625 inco. I think the welds would look much better if it was stainless.

      @@summershine_7702 I'm going to hazard a guess that the white coating on the big exhausts is ceramic coating to keep the heat inside the exhaust, probably Zircotec. It would eat up sand paper.

      @@summershine_7702 I wonder if a lot of the problem is lead staining of the exhaust.. basically maybe lead oxide smearing as you try to polish it off the surface.

    Do you repair cracked, corroded bead sealing parts of the wheel? Just curious I work for a tire company and alway wondered how its done.

    What if you used oven cleaner and baked it?

    • @summershine_7702
      @summershine_7702  2 года назад

      Interesting. I'm not sure. May have cleaned it but wouldn't have changed the fact that the big pipes had to be sanded. But damn oven cleaner might have really loosened the grime.

      @@summershine_7702 yeah I figure with it being exhaust that the grime on it is pretty much baked on

    I would go 80 grid work my way up

      That's what I ended up doing and it was horrible. Went through 100 sheets of sand paper.
