The Cylons were able to break Colonial computer defenses and shut down all newer Battlestars and the Mark Sevens. The much older Mark Twos and Galactica herself only survived because, one, they were so old. All of their systems were obsolete and out of date, so the Cylons didn't have a way to hack into their systems, simply because they were so old and the Cylons focused on newer computers. Second, they were built fresh after an earlier war with the Cylons, when they were so concerned about electronic attacks. This is even shown in the show. Everything aboard Galactica was built with cybersecurity in mind.
I believe all the individual subsystems were also not networked so that also helped. I only remember that because they had to network the FTL with another system once and Gaeta was worried about it. Been a while. Might have to go back and watch again after seeing this video.
Actually they did try to shut the galactica down it wasent because the systems where obsolite it was because they weren't linked together u remember the episode when adama threw a fit about them having to link the subsystems
***** galacticas computers are independent the only connected ones are through hardline so the cylons cannot gain access tho galactica was infected with a logic bomb when lt gaeta networked galacticas computers to find the civilian fleet at the beginning of season 2
Thanks again for your spotlight TheXPGamers. That being said encountered bugs are provoked by the latest patch of Homeworld2 (classic). Gearbox made some changes on the classic game, and the problem with Battlestar Galactica: Fleet Commander is that we have a full-interactive campaign and scenarios (it's called Fall Of The Twelve Colonies), which are not that supported with their patch. We don't know why, as there's no changelog. Hopefully the Remastered version of BSG:FC will be way more compatible with their updates ahah ;)
What I like the most about homeworld is how ship combat works. Unlike sins ships just dont slug out in large numbers. YOu get battle groups and the ships rotate and move and broadside with intelligence.
Shack, In-Universe the FTL drives could only go 10 LY before having to drop out. This might be why the ships drop out of FTL before they reach their destination.
From BSG and its scifi space warfare to Stargate with its scifi space adventure, shows that I love and I feel that nothing else has come close since then
I noticed you always have your ships in passive mode, the green circle next to their health bar. They'll only return fire if fired upon that way. If you press F4, they'll switch to aggressive stance and initiate attack on their own. Also, if you click attack on an other unit when you have a battlestar selected, the flack cannons won't work. This is because the flack cannons will attempt to attack the target, instead of auto-acquiring incoming missiles, as that is their role.
oh my shack D: you got that galactica slaughtered! she has decent offensive capabilities, but what really stands out on her is her flak screen!, basically she can defend against incoming missiles from 2 basestars at once, but only if she stands still, you need to bring her in position and then press "S" that does the magic. this mod was our gem at lan parties!! also the pegasus is the best offensive star, her "bow canons" can rek an enemy basestar in a single salvo, forgot how you activate them tho...
ElzariusUnity Indeed, its always something people overlook. In exodus part 2 in the series you can see how powerful the bow cannons actually are (they basically destroyed one basestar in a single volley) it annoyed me lee moved the pegasus "into the center" when he couldve just picked the basestars off :/
Matthew Bigelow He couldve done the same without going straight into the middle really, and im sure the galactica can take a lot more damage than it did take: if we look at the last episodes before her back "breaks" she survives a massive onslaught from the cylons.
Shadowblaz3y Well, for me, the whole " sacrificing the Pegasus" is just a device for plot drama. If it was I, I will no doubt ditch the Galactica. The Galactica was alow to survive because that is the name of the show, in my opinion.
Hoang Nguyen Agreed, i guess its so they only had one battlestar for the final seasons haha. Im surprised they never had any nukes with which to fight with actually...when im fairly certain in season one they had at least 2 aboard the galactica, and i doubt a docked, commissioned pegasus would have 0 nukes aboard. Oh well, only when the plot calls for it haha
I do believe I now know the two types of BSG games I'd like to see become a reality. #1 is a game type much like this, but with a 4X element added to the equation, sort of like the total war games, a BSG game where you can play as one race, or the other, build fleets of ships, conquer planets and star systems on a turn based galactic map, and massive, full blown fleet on fleet Real-Time tactical engagements where you control, and command a fleet of battlestars or base stars, each with their own crews, weapon batteries, and fighter and bomber wings, maybe even with some personalizing touches thrown in, giving players the ability to choose their own fleet colors, patterns, ship names and such. #2, is a BSG game that works similarly to the new dreadnought game that's coming out, a game that sets teams of players against one another, each with control over their own ship, whether it be human, or cylon, with a massive galactic map to serve as a sort of "clan wars" mode where the humans and cylons battle and duke it out over pieces of territory. Players would be able to choose their class of ship, their loadout, skills to boost abilities, and plenty of customization including ship names, colors, and patterns, with each race having its own strengths and weaknesses, directly countering one another to create a balance between the play styles that might come of it.
Wow! This game is the low res version and it looks good. Your commentary was......interesting. Something that came across very nicely was, what you were lacking in explanations of various game functions, etc, you made up for because you were obviously having a good deal of fun. I definitely plan on getting the HD version when it's available. Thanks for the look-see. You did very well in the engagement too lol.
one thing I find funny si the fact that when I attack somebody in SE I actually perform the same 45 degree angle and circle the enemy like the colonials, its actually a very effective way to get all of your guns onto target
Thought I would point out why jumpships can be kicked out of hyper. I haven't tried the mod itself, but in the base game if a gravity well is active, hyper jumps can't move through the area and will get kicked out of hyper when they enter the grav well.
TheXPGamers Shack i would like to see more of this either in the classic or the Remastered version, i really don't care which one you play on but this is an awesome mod and would like to see more game play, thanks for the vid, :)
They don't jump at all if you don't have the resources. The reason they dropped out was that they were interrupted by the enemy fleet, same as vanilla Homeworld, if you jump too close to an enemy it stops you. Even without a gravity well generator.
A ship without a hyperspace module, can only hyperspace inside the range of a ship that has it. It can not go further than that range so it jumps out early. For example, the module has a range. A ship with the module can go anywhere, without it, can only travel in the FTL range of another ship/station. Another reason of early exit can be hyperspace inhibitors that block all enemy hyperspace drives in a radius. Pretty basic. Strategy: always have a carrier/ battle cruiser in an attack fleet, equipped with a FTL module for quick movement and safe evacuation to avoid losing all units with no escape. (Only deploy ships with FTL drives to fleets, expected to travel long distances or if the risk is high. This way you can save your resources, as well as time.) For any more home world information, just reply to my comment.
Has anyone confirmed if there are other basestars? The wiki states that the two ships are similar in size although a basestar would be taller and have a much bigger width only because of its unusual shape. My guess would be its because the ships are organic and can probably grow as they get older.
Looking forward to the release for the remastered Homeworld, which is still a WiP. Some missions still don't function in the campaign for this one unfortunately.
yes. the cylons shut down most of the galactica's viper mk.7 and then they resorted to using the mk.2 but then captains adamas son had 1 which he used most of the series.
I think it would be cool if you had different variants of Galactica, like the B&C version. Having almost triple the guns but almost no missile batteries. Also wish they threw in the Sobek class too (Diaspora Shattered Armistice).
Alex Parias Remember the Pegasus? It took 2 battlestars to destroy 3 basestars, resulting in the Pegasus being destroyed and the Galactica almost gone as well.
Alex Parias The basestars are powerful in this. They will absolutely destroy battlestars if they out-number them. Even patrol stars if there's enough of them and only one battlestar.
ya mk7 had the baltar computer program so MK2 or mk7-in need of overhull or update were able to fight. think they had to pull computers off the mk7 either that or baltar reporgramed them when he first got on galactica
What was your AFSC and where were you stationed? was just wondering i know you had stated that you were in the USAF. I am currently stationed in the states.
so I have the steam version of this and I got the mod through the workshop but when I start it up I get a black screen the it goes to my desktop then nothing happens please help
The mod uses the engine limitations/engine level bugs of the HW2 engine very well and because of them has some actual depth to it's gameplay compared to most franchise mods (which are almost universally "have more stuff" or ridiculously hard RPS counters). Basically something that's key to know when playing Homeworld 2 mods that have anti-missile weapons: If you give a ship a direct attack order (including bandbox attack) it cannot attack missiles. Anti-missile only fires when the ship is choosing targets of it's own volition (when given a stop order and on non-passive stance or when given a straight move order). This mod uses this to essentially simulate the guns switching from flak to anti-capital munitions - if you give no direct attack orders the ships are using most of their firepower for missile and fighter defense and only fire anti-capital when the opportunity comes up and the AI feels like it. If you give a direct order, every gun focuses fire on non-missile targets (including capitals and strikecraft in any viable arc). That system (working around the inherent engine problems) and the good arc limits and slow turret gun speeds means there's a lot of maneuvering and depth to the combat - when to you turn to broadside, when do you focus fire at the expense of missile protection and how many of your ships to do you leave to flak the hell out of anything coming in?
Hey Shack Quick question: How did you get the original Homeworld 2 to run in 1080p? I can't seem to get a work around for it and I want to play all the mods in 1080p.
lol cylon units especially their capital ships have really long rang much longer then for instance battlestars but the flak of ships like the galactica make that a moot point.. plus in closer ranges battlestar wreak cylon ships along with battlestar having more health......cylon ships cost quite a bit less thou.
My mods for HW2 remastered has stopped showing my mods even if I reinstall them and the game and when they do occasionally appear they freeze the launcher on selection. Does anyone know how I can sort this?

It's really funny too because the comms in the Galactica are actually hardlined. I found that hilarious.
That was part of it. Wireless communication aboard Galactica was only ever used when absolutely needed.
I believe all the individual subsystems were also not networked so that also helped. I only remember that because they had to network the FTL with another system once and Gaeta was worried about it. Been a while. Might have to go back and watch again after seeing this video.

What I like the most about homeworld is how ship combat works. Unlike sins ships just dont slug out in large numbers. YOu get battle groups and the ships rotate and move and broadside with intelligence.
yeah you end up getting many smaller engagements and not just a larger soup of ships
Galactica comes out of hyperspace...
Space completely explodes into burning shrapnel.
They have already made the campaign that follows the series. It was in the previous version as well.
Shack, In-Universe the FTL drives could only go 10 LY before having to drop out.
This might be why the ships drop out of FTL before they reach their destination.
You gotta watch the whole thing. Good God man! You're shortchanging yourself. I was bowled over by the storyline and beauty of it.
Man, love the voice work, really changes the atmosphere of a game if the voices for the characters and battle chatter is dead on.
That mod looks so good, can't wait for the HD. If there ends up being a HD Campaign I really hope you guys do a Lets Play of it!
From BSG and its scifi space warfare to Stargate with its scifi space adventure, shows that I love and I feel that nothing else has come close since then
When you watching this with epic music playing the background, and the chorus kicks in when the enemy throws a massive ship at Shack.
Good play and good commentary.
Dude, this is awesome! It feels JUST like the show.

Shadowblaz3y
Lee did that to force them to attack Pegasus, rather than Galactica, which was a few minutes from becoming a scrap heap.
Matthew Bigelow He couldve done the same without going straight into the middle really, and im sure the galactica can take a lot more damage than it did take: if we look at the last episodes before her back "breaks" she survives a massive onslaught from the cylons.

it's a fu***ng dream.
What do you think of Battlestar Galactica Deadlock?
I'd totally play the hell out if this
Yes, most mark 7 vipers were shot down due to back doors in the CNP.
that was awesome really looking forward to playing this mod
Wait... why are you not heading the pegasus straight for the hub since the most brutal firepower it has in the foward mounted main battery?
My God this mod is gorgeous! The Galactica looks beautiful! Have they made any progress with this, Shack?
you get affected by a hyperspace inhibitor kicks you out of hyperspace immiditaly when you get in its range
harcid1 ive always had to jump farther behind to the side then move in for you info

Your ship didnt jump far enough because you ran out of money.
Nice work. I like the mod, going to have to try it.
They don't jump at all if you don't have the resources. The reason they dropped out was that they were interrupted by the enemy fleet, same as vanilla Homeworld, if you jump too close to an enemy it stops you. Even without a gravity well generator.

captain shack you can close ALL the U.I if you press BACKSPACE once or more its kinda like a cinematic mode
yes. the cylons shut down most of the galactica's viper mk.7 and then they resorted to using the mk.2 but then captains adamas son had 1 which he used most of the series.
HW2 had hyperspace inhibitor fields and I suspect this mod has FTL inhibitors too. That might be why your raptors drop out of FTL early.
That one was awesome!
I think it would be cool if you had different variants of Galactica, like the B&C version. Having almost triple the guns but almost no missile batteries. Also wish they threw in the Sobek class too (Diaspora Shattered Armistice).
Another good BSG mod is "Diaspora: Shattered Armistice" for FreeSpace 2.
The Heavy basestar was the bigger one, in game it's like the size of 3 battlestars xD
Shack will a new Space Engineers video come out this week?
Coming up on 100k subs! Nice job. :)
This looks like a cool mod
You should do more of these 😎
I remember, the battlestars couldn’t do the whole jump because the resurrection hub has an Inhibitor field
Basestars look small as hell 3 basestars made the gallatica jump. Plz make this a full series.
Well to be fair one single basestar is a massive threat.
But still a battlestar has a chance of winning against 1 basestar but 2+ no fucking way
Alex Parias Remember the Pegasus? It took 2 battlestars to destroy 3 basestars, resulting in the Pegasus being destroyed and the Galactica almost gone as well.
Yeah but still it's a slight chance that 1 battlestar can hold out long enough to do decent damage on a basestar and ftl

Pegasus MKVIIs didn't have the CNP though so they werent able to be hacked.

yes the MK 7 vipers were the ones
I freaking love battlestar galactica almost as much as war hammer 40k
I was on the build team. Sensretractor
Such an awesome mod but so unstable...
Sad that they seemed to have stopped working on it. It really is my favorite mod for homeworld!
Please do a walkthrough of this mod
11:05 this seems familiar... hmmm...
no inbound Pegasus though :(
with galactica. hit S then hit F4 for enemy suppression barrage.
Maybe we should call it the pegasus taking on three basestars
When are you going to make another Space Engineers Episode
You should do more of this
so I have the steam version of this and I got the mod through the workshop but when I start it up I get a black screen the it goes to my desktop then nothing happens please help
Love the audio so said shake commentary loader then the audio
IIRC all the battlestars have flak guns. Don't see any on the Pegasus and Atlantia. The BSG mod in Nexus was good too.

Does the mod include the music from the 200(4) show? or do you have to add that yourself?
I do believe there is a campaign for this mod because on gul gameing he did this mod a while ago
So cool how did you play it
Thank you!!!😀👍😍
The base star was bigger than Galactica and I believe the Galactica was the biggest.
there is a campaign: The Fall of The Twelve Colonies. Also can you make a let's play of it?
shack when is the space engineers episode coming out?
When's the next space engineers lets play coming out
Hey Shack Quick question: How did you get the original Homeworld 2 to run in 1080p? I can't seem to get a work around for it and I want to play all the mods in 1080p.
Can you do another skrimish but as the cyclone?
does battlestar galactica fleet commander have TOS?
when i try to play deathmatch i start with a battlestar and not a station what should i do?
the mark 7 were the ones that got shot down
Where is the download for this? I've looked on the page in the description, but I can't find anything.
lol cylon units especially their capital ships have really long rang much longer then for instance battlestars but the flak of ships like the galactica make that a moot point.. plus in closer ranges battlestar wreak cylon ships along with battlestar having more health......cylon ships cost quite a bit less thou.
TheXPGamers If you haven't noticed you spelled steam wrong in the description.
Are they planning on remaking these mods for the new Homeworlds?
My mods for HW2 remastered has stopped showing my mods even if I reinstall them and the game and when they do occasionally appear they freeze the launcher on selection. Does anyone know how I can sort this?
still wishing for fleet commander for HW:R
The Emperor will be pleased
The base stars are meant to be bigger then the galactica and the Pegasus is begged then both
if i start a battle the screen starts flickering is this just a chrash or?
Everything that had the Idris fleet wide command interface I.e Mercury,Valkyrie battlestars and Mk7 Vipers were all hacked and shut down by the Cylons
did they ever make this for the remaster??
The MK 7 Vipers had networked targeting and firecontrol computers that the cylons hacked and disabled
well, Cap Shack, where can I find the mod?
Can anyone give me the link for this final build? I can't find it anywhere now. :(
When is it going to be out>>>?
