One thing to keep in mind with the XM5s is that the ear tips degrade to the point of being unusable after six or seven months of heavy use, and replacements are not cheap or easily available, especially in Ireland. If you keep them for three or four years, you should anticipate spending maybe 120 or more on replacement ear tips if you want to stick with the OEMs.

I bought the QC2 a while back, after watching yours and others reviews of them, and I haven’t regretted for a second. Yes, they have connectivity issues from time to time and you need to re-pair them every time you switch to a different device. But their ANC and sound quality is truly amazing. I can sit in a busy Starbucks or go on a walk on a busy street and be in my own bubble. That’s all that really matters to me. Great job!
Great comparison brother how i wish to have a lot of money to purchase one of those. Well i'm satisfied with my soundpeats opera 05 but their app got a real big issues hope they'll fix it soon.
this was very comprehensive and the conclusion was on point. I owned wony xm4 and senheiser momentum3 both of witch faild on me so I got to use them basically for free but with some annoyance. Out of those I liked the sonys a bit more for the defined sound at the ends, wich you kinda mention the same. I came to this video because I wanted to see how beyerdynamic is holding up with their second tw-earbuds because I use one of their headsets. The test shows me that at the moment there is no real advantage over the 45€ cheaper sonys. I'll have to watch this video agein though to take everything into account. A spreadsheet with the results would be very helpful because in veideo format, while great production, it is quite extensive information in a short time and hard to take in but maybe you want that in a way you have to get your watchtime to make money of this as well. thanks for your work
Not sure if the beyerdynamic is worth the extra money over the XM5. That said, I prefer their comfort and controls which might make a difference in every day use.
Absolutely love the format of this comparison Andy, but curious and a touch disappointed that you did not include the B&W Pi8's, the Denon Perl Pro's or the Devialet Gemini II's. I realize that these are more costly, but would have loved to hear your comments nonetheless. Your reviews are the best!
There’s something you could talk about in the future. Whenever you just want to use only one earbud, all of them activate hearthrough no matter what. I think Jabra is the only one that allows you to deactivate this behaviour. This is important for me because use only one while cycling and I hate to have to manually activate sound cancellation all the time. Also use under the rain and snow could be useful too in the review.
@@mateusmorgado I see your point and it makes total sense. In fact, I like cycling myself too and was thinking about including all the single mode stuff. Is the sound mono mixing both channels into one? Are the control functions the same in single mode? How the ANC/ambient settings change? There would be a lot to cover but including every single aspect would make these videos way too long I'm afraid. And I have to draw a line somewhere unfortunately. Maybe a special "director's cut" would be the way to go 🙂 As for testing in the rain and snow, yeah, I really do not want to do that if you don't mind... 😅

Will you make a proper review of the Amiron 300. I’m a fan of Beyerdynamic and have Overear Headphones and the Verio 200 specifically for when I need ambient noise. I was wondering here though if I should get them or Airpods, I have a mixed environment with an iPhone, MacBook but also Windows and Linux devices. Overall sound quality is more important than ANC or Transparency modes. But I hate the background hiss of wireless headphones and was wondering specifically if there is a difference with these earbuds if one has more or less hiss than the other, like when they are connected but no audio playing or during quiet audio where it is more noticeable.

Like your comprehensive comparison video Andy. And I'm glad you didn't rank the sound quality. However, I was hoping you didn't just use the stock sound settings for your analysis. Who listens to ear buds or headphones using the stock setting - do you?? Does not showcase what these buds can do in sound quality. Just like in a sports car, does one test drive it just in its standard mode? Should have optimised every ear bud to your liking then give us your opinion. The stock setting of the Sony, Bose and MTW4 sounds so flat and dull out of the box. As your probably aware, the MTW4 sounds so much better, especially the mids, highs and definitely opens up the sound stage after doing the, "Sound Personalisation" test. Same with the Bose and Sony, after adjusting the personalised EQ. So in your next comparison video please consider commenting the stock tuning sound compared to your optimised sound setting. Because what you said about the sound quality does not help at all. I'm someone who thinks sound quality trumps over other qualities.
@@IMHO88-dm1xf I understand your point of view but I do not necessarily agree with it. I personally do listen to earbuds without any EQing and I reckon that so do the majority of people. And each bud has a stock tuning or sonic character for a reason. This is what the manufacturer meant their product to sound like. And I want to share my take on that just to keep things simple and easy to understand. If I started EQing I'd probably end up with different settings for different genres, use cases, ANC modes and that would make things infinitely more complicated in my opinion.
@AndysTechTone - I understand your POV, Andy. I mean no need to explain each EQ settings under different music genres but just how different does each bud/headphone sound after you have optimised the EQ sound settings to your liking. Basically how much better the buds sound afterwards. Yes, they have a stock tuning but also a personalised EQ option as well, so I think the manufacturers have included that feature just in case one doesn't like the stock tuning. (and I think that feature was included in the high end price, so why not take advantage of it). If I listened to just the stock sound on the MTW4, Sony and Bose, then I would be very disappointed and would not buy them. For example, the B&W Pi7 doesn't have a personalised EQ option, so that tells me that's how B&W intends these buds to sound, no adjustments needed. Yes, there's also the EQ shift with ANC on/off but that's a discussion for another time...
@@IMHO88-dm1xf So what should I do in the case of the B&W Pi7 which offers no personalised EQ? I did not test them, so I don't know for sure but how would I compare those buds to others with EQ for example? Maybe I should use third party apps as others have already suggested many times. This whole discussion just proves how complicated things can get when we add all these variables to the equation. Not that I don't enjoy having these discussions 🙂
@AndysTechTone - I think using a third party app is not a good idea because that setting doesn't carry over to another device and it's not from the proprietary App. As for the Pi7, (it's like the Air Pods Pro 2 and Galaxy Buds 3 Pro) talk about their sound signature based on what's available, like how you had described how each bud sounded to you in this video. What I'm trying to say, if there's a personalised EQ setting available in their app or anything that would make a difference to improve the sound, eg Sound Personalisation test for MTW4 (that made a big difference for me compared to adjusting the EQ) please tell us what you think after you have optimised the sound to your liking. If the manufacturers have included an App for the buds and lets you adjust the EQ, then I think you should test it out and tell us what you think... BTW, I like how you're outdoors in your microphone test so we can hear how they perform in real life situations. 🙂
Great videos, what do you recommend for a lifetime Jabra elite user, if they want (need 😢) to switch to something else since Jabra is exiting the game?
@@AndysTechTone I found them almost perfect but they sound a little too crisp, ANC and transparency are amazing, probably a little more occlusion than I'd expect. Swiping back and forth for volume can also tricky as from time to time I was hitting the buds out of my ear - sort of.

For the same reason I did not include the B&W Pi8 or the Denon Pearl Pro and some others. Due to my limited budget I could not test any of these buds 🥴
3 months ago my HR gave us OnePlus 12 with the oneplus buds 3 pro because the company app is only available at android while me myself own an Iphone 15 pro max and the airpods pro 2 and honestly I'm addicted to listening to my flac music library on the OnePlus set.. to me it beats the airpods in every single aspect.. for the OnePlus buds not even reaching this list here makes me question the ranking.. consuming these are all better than the OnePlus buds ..so why the airpods are even in this list. I don't understand it since I never used anything but the airpods from the mentioned list in this video.
@@PainfullMorality I will test the OnePlus buds at some point and even compare them to the Airpods Pro 2. And many other buds for that matter which you never did. But making all this cost me money, believe it or not. You on the other hand got the OnePlus buds for free and you're also complaining about content you are watching for free...
Bought the Sony I like more base and sounded kinda flat also theres a weird squeaky noise when I work out with it with ANC, unfortunately I cant return it due to being a bud
I wonder about TMW4 or EAH-AZ80, i have read a lot about issues with battery, connectivity with TMW3 and could you say if you had some problems with them in time of revieving?
TMW4 have no problem with connection and batterylife. but it very uncomfortable. I have to returned them after few days of suffering. They have sharp angle and must be put it deeper in the ear channal. Overwise sound is good and ANC works perfect. My ears is on big-side btw but i still cant use'em
They can't tell if they have battery problems or not because they've been on sale for a short time. Here in my country, Sennheisers have dropped to almost half the price and I don't trust them I would buy from Sennheiser again. I chose the Sony instead and I am delighted.
There are no issues with my Sennheiser Momentum 4 so far. And they are louder than AZ80. But then, the Bowers and Wilkins Pi8 are the best for me. I tend to grab them more often than the others.
I've got AZ80 and Elite 10s. While I like Jabra's in daily use (phone calls, comfort) theyre no match to Technics. Sound qulity & ANC are far better for AZ80. Jabra does not belong to premium category in my opinion.

How did you rank the sony wf1000xm5 number 4 below the galaxy buds 3 pro, pixel pro 2 and the airpods? Everyone else ranks the xm5 as the best just beaten by the bose ultra......
I know it was rhetorical but since you asked nicely... I ranked the earbuds after testing and comparing each and every one of them across multiple scenarios.
@AndysTechTone sorry mate, I'll change it, thank you for the response. Did you use anything to measure your results or is this just subjective, e.i. you using the earbuds?
Own a samsung buds 3 pro, totally blown away by the sound and call quality when your pair with your Samsung phone (s23 ultra in my case) You are doing something wrong with the mic test, it's actually on par with airpods, you should send a voice mail with every ear buds to understand how the mic works, recording with app shows bad results in buds 3 pro For sound quality, it should be top 3 if you connect it with a Samsung device (bad you miss tht when a Samsung device can be fetched easily now a days) thus you won't get the better codec and will sound average.. Try again that way, may be it will change your rating 😅
If Samsung didn't limit the use of other hi-res codecs I would consider getting one of their phones for testing. But I don't have the resources to buy multiple $1000 phones every year or two unfortunately
@AndysTechTone you dint have to spent 1000 dollar to get samsung codec. It's available even for the cheapest samsung phones. Aptx variants are actually hard to find

@@omkar7811 I'm afraid you won't find one here either any soon...
Great videos, what do you recommend for a lifetime Jabra elite user, if they want (need 😢) to switch to something else since Jabra is exiting the game?
For now the Elite 10 gen 2 is still a great option
@AndysTechTone will be hard to settle on something post Jabra 😞
Which earbuds are the most comfortable? Most of them hurt my ears.
I find the Airpods Pro very comfy but that's just me and my ears
@AndysTechTone unfortunately I'm using the samsung Pro 3 as part of the Ecco system, and it's not comfortable
I'm rocking Huawei Freebuds Pro 3. The Pixelbuds Pro 2 could be the successor but a couple of features fall behind while it's more future proof.
I expected more from the Pixel Buds Pro 2 myself, so I just returned them after the review
@@AndysTechTone I found them almost perfect but they sound a little too crisp, ANC and transparency are amazing, probably a little more occlusion than I'd expect. Swiping back and forth for volume can also tricky as from time to time I was hitting the buds out of my ear - sort of.
@@NegyedMisi Those swiping volume controls are the worst...
@@AndysTechTone I had high hopes and it is still better than having to triple tap or tap and hold. The Pixelbuds Pro 2 actually rank very high on my wishlist. I will try the Sony Linkbuds Fits in a few days. I have to send back my best ever Huawei Freebuds Pro 3 for battery issues.
Dude if u haven’t got the b&w pi8 then ur reviews are real
Not sure what you mean
Which TwS u can recommend if i like i like trip hop/electronic music? No chance to test these.
AZ80 probably
I would have included the new Bose QC Earbuds 2024, I think they are pretty great overall.
I haven't tested those buds yet
@AndysTechTone Alright, I can recommend them :)
Background music was unnecessary in my opinion but otherrwise excellent video
Some others will complain if there is no background music. It seems like I cannot win but thanks for watching regardless 🙂
🎉amazing video reallyyyy!! Thanks a lot
@@mohamedfadhelkaroui2431 Glad you liked it, thanks for watching 🙂
Still AZ80 is the king, bought it with price of RM690/$155 (completely new unit)
@Spadenezz rm690 is a steal. Care to share where did buy it? All i saw is above rm1k
beli kt ne dpt murah mcm tu...?
@@SuffianJames-f5p up... nak tahu juga. Murah
Why haven’t you included the Beoplay EX?
For the same reason I did not include the B&W Pi8 or the Denon Pearl Pro and some others. Due to my limited budget I could not test any of these buds 🥴
@@AndysTechTone- hopefully you can try the Pi 8 sometime in the future and let us know what you think.
Nice review
Glad you liked it, thanks for watching 🙂
Galaxy Buds 3 pro over $160. Pretty nice price
thanks and subbed!
Thank you too! 🙂
@@piotrkujawa3092 No battery issues for me so far
AZ80 are king 👑
@@Max.527 In a sense, yes 🙂
I've got AZ80 and Elite 10s. While I like Jabra's in daily use (phone calls, comfort) theyre no match to Technics. Sound qulity & ANC are far better for AZ80. Jabra does not belong to premium category in my opinion.
@@mrheikkiable The Jabra offers quite a few features the AZ80 does not but I get your point
Not testing the galaxy buds 3 pro on a Samsung device is criminal as the sound quality wouldn't shined way more
Not giving us quality codecs which are available on all Android devices is criminal too
@@AndysTechTone Why did you not use the Airpods on an android phone too. Biased as charger funny dude. Wasted all these hours to make a video that is partial.
@icentuche90 I tested the Airpods on Android just as much as the others. It's not my fault that I can only visually show you all the settings and software features on iOS...
@AndysTechTone but when apple do it its ingenious right
im returned my senh MTW4 and buy Buds3pro over it. MTW4 realy uncofrtable and heavy, they need to be insert deep into ear, they biger even for my big ears. 1000xm5 even more biggest that senh but it feels not so sharp in the ears. All they have almost the same sound quality. But soundstage most arounding with sumsung. My main earphones is Beyer T1 (i own HD800S and Hifiman Arya in the past). So i do know what im talikg about sound and soundstage
I agree, the Sennies sit quite deep inside your ear canals and I can easily imagine it bothering you in the long run. As for the soundstage on the Samsung, it is good indeed, I only did not like the boosted bass that much...
@@AndysTechTone Did u ever has Sennheiser Momentum Sport? if u do, how its comfort vs MTW4?
You are need a samsung phone to get more than 50% performance on galaxy buds 3 pro
I'd need a lot of things...
@AndysTechTone yes but this is only thing to do get full 100% performance of buds 3 pro
how Sony can be on TOP if they "Zenipower" battery just massive RIPing!!!
@HasanAlKharfan just testing with my ears, no measurements
Own a samsung buds 3 pro, totally blown away by the sound and call quality when your pair with your Samsung phone (s23 ultra in my case)
You are doing something wrong with the mic test, it's actually on par with airpods, you should send a voice mail with every ear buds to understand how the mic works, recording with app shows bad results in buds 3 pro
For sound quality, it should be top 3 if you connect it with a Samsung device (bad you miss tht when a Samsung device can be fetched easily now a days) thus you won't get the better codec and will sound average..
Too much premium 😮.
I think "premium" should only be used for the headphones that loop over the top of the ear
Every market has it's own premium segment. It has nothing to do with being in-ear or over-ear.
@AndysTechTone you don't get what I'm saying. Ok.is it your ego .anyway. can tell there's no way of getting to. Nevermind. You are the headphones master, it is what you say.
