Back in 2020 I wanted to upgrade from my old 1998 Lexus ES 300. I test drove a 2014 Lexus IS 250. My girlfriend and baby didn’t fit too comfortably in the back and I didn’t like the tight feel up in the drivers seat area. The center console was so high up that I felt like I was in a jet due to how little space there was and I’m only 5’8. A couple of weeks later I test drove a 2013 GS 350 by myself and automatically knew it was the right size for me & my family plus there was much more open space up in the drivers seat area! No awkwardly placed center console & cupholders. The front of the car/grill looks mean as hell. From the side.. it’s a bit meh. I definitely love the side profile of the IS. But the front/grill of the IS looks kind of funny. Trade offs. Pros & cons lol I bought a used 2013 Lexus GS 350 with Luxury package for $16,499 which was actually a pretty good deal. Yes the car had 106k + miles buuuut it was a single owner car and kept in great condition! Thanks to your 250k Lexus GS review I ended up deciding the GS was the way to go. These things are beauties and very reliable. 🚗
I found a GS 350 from 2015 with 187k miles. I test drove it, looked it over (it had some cosmetic stuff, plus probably small accidents not listed in carfax). It was drives like a brand new car despite the flaws and mileage. I paid $13k for it. And I really like it a lot already after 2 days. The interior looks like a new car. Even the seats. The engine had a no oil leaks. And the transmission shifts great. I like it better than my 2012 Infiniti m37 that got totalled. The Infiniti transmission would get stuck in gear sometimes. That was annoying. The high mileage GS 350 is for my wife that drives 20k miles in 5 years. Perfect for her. I drive it on the weekends with the family. We are all small, so it's perfect for us 4 (wife, me, daughter and son). Not ideal for 5 people due to the hump in the rear middle seat. The IS 350 would be a better fit for bigger individuals (6ft or taller) and a family of 5. Thanks for the video!
Biggest issue I've had with my IS300h is all the creeks from the centre console, really bad as well when going around corners fast as the chassis flexes, even worst (and embarrassing) when a passenger sits next to you with their knee pushing into it. I've fixed 99% of these myself by stripping down the centre console and adding loads of felt, but still have one really bad creak that evades me. Other than that the IS is a great car, but very much needs updated power trains.
I have also the IS300H 2014 with 110K miles and in85K replaced battery packs and in 105K replaced almost all the front suspension system (upper, lower, tie rods and more ) still have creeks from the rear . after 75K serviced my Trans and the color was dark red .
GS for certain. The gadgets you get on a GS 2016-2020 are comparable to luxury cars nowadays (HUD, ACC, adaptive highbeam 18-way power fromt seats with memory, adaptive variable suspension and other comfort equipments). It is lucky that Lexus discontinued GS in 2020 instead of in 2015 so GS can still get a more modern Lexus look despite the fact that it eas discontinued.
I first had a 2017 IS200t F-Sport that I bought used in late 2018 & loved that car, but was thinking about it for months & eventually upgraded to a 2016 GS350 F-Sport just less than two years later. It had 41k miles when I bought it for $31k (Original MSRP $58k), now with 71k miles & has been problem free so far as expected. I wasn't planning on buying one, but needed a bigger car & for a few other reasons. I didn't want to replace my IS, but I love the GS a lot more for many reasons & after three years of ownership I still can't get enough of how great it is especially for the price I paid for it & I would easily buy another one.
I guess I’m following your path. Have 2020 IS300h, but seats are not comfortable for me, looking for a bigger car and thinking to buy GS300h. Found 2017 model, of course I’m going to test drive first but as I’m going to change my car for an older one (2020 IS to 2017 GS),do you think is it worth it?
@@ahmetaksu2114 It's for sure worth it as long as it's in good shape. The tech is pretty much the same in both cars except the GS's screen is two inches larger. The GS is a lot more luxurious with nicer materials as well as a lot more features since it's a class above the IS. The GS feels more grown up & has a smoother ride, but surprisingly has even better steering & handling than the IS. Overall as nice as the IS is, the GS has a better balance of everything IMO.
I think that both are great cars. I’ve had a big body Lexus before (02 LS430) and wanted something a bit more compact/sporty looking. A few months ago I was able to find a 14 IS 350 F Sport with 26k miles. Absolutely in love with it. Only thing that bothers me are the slight creaks/rattles but the roads where I live are terrible, other than that she drives like a dream. I see myself owning it for a long time, though I wouldn’t mind going for a GS F sometime down the road.
Just the simple fact that the IS is still in production means it is the better car. However I love my GS. More roomier and I don't see the GS on the street all the time.
I don’t know about the "production" bit. The GS with it's performance aspect just didn't have the same appeal as the cheaper (ie. cost and fuel) and more common ES models. Lexus cannibalized their own sales regarding the GS with the ES. The GS just couldn't compete.
just picked up my 2015 Gs350 F-Sport a month ago at 77k miles. It’s amazing I love it , beautiful black with red interior too . came with Mark Levinson sound system, and a bunch of options This is car is so reliable and I wouldn’t trade it for anything else, cheers ! PS: the Mark Levinson sub sounds muddy, and pops with certain bass frequencies anyone let me know if they have a fix
If you're getting a GS get models 13 through 15 and yes get the F sport and makes a difference. I've owned mine for four years now 185,000 miles selling and get another one
If the previous owner used regular gas once your start using premium the ecu will adjust, up the timing and the power will come back. Usually takes 2-3 tanks. If you want add a bottle of good fuel system cleaner.
Hey Kevin. You are right about these prices. I remember vividly when I was looking for my 2019 GS I spotted quite a few GSs from 2015 and up with less than 30000 miles going for low to mid 20ks.
Yea my friend exactly, I too remember them going for low miles and mid $20k as well very sad to see these prices now since they are much older with nearly triple the miles in some cases
I remember thinking back then, what great prices on these since I knew about the quality, refinement, and reliability. I also knew that it was an SUV world and if anyone is looking at a luxury sports sedan, they were looking at the Germans. Perfect pieces for a buying opportunity. Especially for a 3 or 4-year-old car you could have saved almost 40% off of the new price. That was going to be my buying formula. I was lucky that I was able to land one before it hit the fan. Lol
@@josefernandez2722 exactly! Glad you had that mindset and was able to see through the smoke and mirrors so well and landed a phenomenal GS. Are you still waiting on the NX order or did you cancel?
I like that you included the date when the comparison was done. I like that you didn’t go through all the spec sheets, you’re right. I hit screen freeze and took the time to look at the numbers. I did some research using this and other vids, and just bought a 2016 GS350. It’s really a good car. I had lots of cars to look at, and Bought a one owner used, and found an exec model. I’ve put 600 miles on it, my mechanic and I went through the entire car. Fixed the timing chain cover oil seeping. (Meh,don’t care). This is a really good car, fun to drive. Don’t expect good gas mileage, I didn’t, and it doesn’t, don’t care, premium gas. Good video, and accurate assessment of the gs350.
I have a 2007 GS with 291,000 miles. I purchased it pre-pandemic with 160,000 miles for about $10,000. I have not had a single issue. I wanted to get a 2014 GS but it was out of my budget at the time.
Our GS 350F Sport is great. We had one issue, it was the CD player. Thankfully is was still under warranty and Lexus replaced the whole system which was about 13,000.
Great breakdown on the two Lexus cars! I recently purchased a 2015 GS350 F Sport. I looked for 6 months before I found the right one. Service history was complete with every maintenance item since the car was new performed on time at a Lexus dealer. Car must have been owned by a couple car guys previously because, although it has 81,000 miles, it looks and drives like it has 5,000. Previous owners and history are so important when looking for one of these. I rejected dozens before finding this one. Since it is a glorified Toyota, I'm hoping to maintain it and get another couple hundred thousand miles out of it. IMO, the guys who have problems may have purchased cars with sketchier histories (or just gotten unlucky). Loving my Ultra White, Cabernet (red) interior, runs like new, completely ultra quiet interior (except for minor performance tire noise) Lexus so far. Thanks again!
Great information! I really like the GS for these years. Your one hundred percent correct on pricing for the mileage but a good looking /running Lexus never shows the year. I have a 2011 LS that (unless you are a car aficionado) most people always think is a newer model, but no warranty is not something I’d recommend to anyone ….
Had a 2016 IS and the 2018 GS350. GS is in a different league. The GS is basically a non cost cut bigger version of the IS. I dont mean to talk bad on the IS but it is true, I loved my Is when I had it. However there is no reason to get the newer IS unless its the 500 because you can buy a used GS for less and have a way better car in terms of size and overall quality.
2015 GS. Got it with 30k 3 years ago and currently have 85k. My extended warranty is unlimited years and 150k miles so we’re gonna have plenty of time together
@@consciousawakening4799 I used to work at Lexus and the finance department hooked me up with it after I bought the car. GS all the way! I own one now and it has been a great vehicle! Your right on perception, people think if anything is European it is better! Some people never want to give credit to Asians for anything.
@MeynMotorGroup I can't forget how good of a vehicle the Hyundai Equus is but for some reason it doesn't get respect. They have been very reliable vehicles. I seen a couple come through my store and they still run great. Hyundai may not be as reliable as Toyota but they have some good vehicles. Consumers just need to do some research.

2013 GS Fsport owner Bought simply because it’s not as common as the IS Had a 2007 IS250(manual) years ago Both good but I definitely enjoy the GS more
GS350 F sport red seats black exterior 2015 That best I naught this car with 30k miles in 2018 Best car I’ve ever had fun reliable not expensive simply the best

Of course GS is a better car but IS is also very good. I chose a new one in 2021 over the used GS and I’m very happy with my IS. I was planning to get the GS in future but at this point it’s getting older each year and not much cheaper. Makes not much sense for me to pay a lot of cash for an old car. It’s a pity but I might just get an ES in future when I give IS to my son.
I traded in my 2018 Kia Stinger GT for a 2016 Lexus GS350 F sport. Got it for $31,000 with (at the time) 28,000 miles on it. That was 2021 and it still runs great with only 38,000 miles on it now. Low miles because I work close to home.
The Stinger was a blast to drive. I had never had a car like that before. The GS is smooth and you can certainly feel the quality. The Stinger had good quality, but in the end, it was a Kia. I had numerous issues with the car. Within a week, the paint on the hood started to come off. That took two weeks to fix. I also had to replace the rotors twice. The first time Kia paid, but they would not pay for the second repair. So I took it to my local tire shop. After I got rid of the car, I got a letter from Kia saying that they knew there was a issue with the rotors and offered to fix them. Too Little, too late.
I had an 08 IS350 (Absolutely loved it until I totaled it) and then leased a new accord 2.0t for a bit and now I’m looking for a 2006 GS430. Gotta go right back to Lexus always
Getting a 14' GS350 F sport w/ 110k miles for $13k, good deal? This will be a daily and possible hand me down to my kids first car. I want a reliable w/ maintenance car that I can count on but is somewhat fun to drive. I have other cars for blasting around in. I want this car to start and take me anywhere at anytime.
i drove my IS for a total of 6 months and i hated it more and more with each passing month! i drove my GS for exactly 5 Years and i still love it! i got an LS now but i will for sure miss my Comfy GS P.S. IS: this garbage only got "Hold Assistent" since the 2021 model - even tho GS has it since 2012 and they could have just take it from there ? not to wait 8 damn years!
My facelift 4GS450h is almost at 90.000 KM now. Only real issue I have is my rear taillights are wet on the inside, which doesn't fall under the 10 year extended warranty. During maintenance earlier this week it turned out my front breaking discs are slightly warped.
I'm going to be in the market to replace my civic coupe (third baby on the way) and I'm looking between Acura and Lexus. I like Acura because I've owned a TL in the past and I've always owned a Honda (still enjoying my Odyssey). I've never owned a Toyota before. My question is, if I go Acura, I'd get a '12-14 TL. Comparably I'd consider a GS350. Am I correct in assuming that if I got an IS350, cabin wise, it would be roughly the same as having a civic sedan? I'm 6'1 and my son's feet press directly into my back when he's in his car seat in my current car.
I canceled. I am waiting for a cx70, but honestly, in this environment of making you wait so long for cars, I actually get tired of looking at the cars over and over again in reviews that by the time it finally becomes available, it feels old to me. I was super excited over the NX. Now it feels like a 5-year-old car. I have seen plenty of commercials on it but it seems like smoke and mirrors. Who knows, maybe if there are enough available that I could test drive one, I might change my mind again. I am trying to find that Goldilocks just right compact SUV, but it seems that it is difficult to find for me. Either it's too expensive for what they offer, or too long of a wait for the trim you want, or if I go for one such as the upcoming Mazda cx70, doesn't save you on as much gas as I would like. However, if it is reliable and refined, I'll take it. I believe I am only going to do this 1 more time. I am not one to buy short-term. My GS has 30k miles, and if I share that with a new SUV, that should be my last purchase.
Yes the waiting game is awful I’m about to drop two vids on the GX and TX tomorrow, they seem like great products but it is as you say, what will availability be like? I hope you find what you need in a reasonable time frame
Between the 2013-2015 GS350 model years, which (a) drive train I.e. Awd or Rwd., and (b) transmission I.e., 6 or 8 speed., would be most suitable for an exciting driving experience I.e., cornering, handling, etc.?
@@MeynMotorGroup if RWD that comes only with the 8 speed (2014-15). Is there a significant difference between transmission performance between the 6 and 8 speed?
Im looking in this price range and what would you recommend between the GS350 and a LS430. Im looking for a solid daily that nice, reliable, and quite quick. Thanks.
If you are still looking, I actually have had both, and 05 LS430 with the 18inch wheels and the GS350 F Sport RWD, and I honestly recommend the GS350 because you specified “quite quick”. The LS430 was so so so beautiful all around, no creeks/rattles at all, but it just wasn’t fast enough for the times I wanted to go to the canyons. LS for cruising GS for spirited cruising
Do these 2013+ Lexus products have a reliable Mark Levinson sound system? I'm currently in the market for a GS350 F-Sport, GS450h fourth AND third generation. Coming from a LS430 owner, who had to replace the whole sound system in the car, and never wants to spend that much money on car audio again.
I actually have seen more problems reported with the Mark Levinson on the forums, but the flip-side to that is some people actually prefer the base audio, especially in the earlier years (13-15). I think to my ears the Mark Levinson sounds maybe 10-15% better, but I see what people mean, as when playing from a low quality audio source it feels more punchy than the Lev. Also base audio engineered by Pioneer and fewer problems reported.
@@wj6107ML does have issues with the amp going. About 1k to replace. The base IS sound is bad, and worse than the base 2nd gen IS audio, from what I was told From what I’ve read the sound quality on the IS with the ML is better than the GS with the ML, both the same reliability
Don't get any any IS 250. They carbon up and even if you clean it, it comes back. Plus it's underpowered. Research it. Go with the 2014 and newer 350 vehicles.

Yes the car had 106k + miles buuuut it was a single owner car and kept in great condition! Thanks to your 250k Lexus GS review I ended up deciding the GS was the way to go. These things are beauties and very reliable. 🚗
Got a Black 2013 GS350. Love it.
That sucks mine never did that
I have also the IS300H 2014 with 110K miles and in85K replaced battery packs and in 105K replaced almost all the front suspension system (upper, lower, tie rods and more ) still have creeks from the rear . after 75K serviced my Trans and the color was dark red .
Lol. The lexus GS has ALWAYS been a luxury car! GS literally stands for Grand Sedan.
I came from a 2002 LS 430 to a 2013 GS 350 but i still think the ride of the LS was better.
GS F is more and more hard to find
Get one if you have the chance
Just the simple fact that the IS is still in production means it is the better car. However I love my GS. More roomier and I don't see the GS on the street all the time.
I don’t know about the "production" bit. The GS with it's performance aspect just didn't have the same appeal as the cheaper (ie. cost and fuel) and more common ES models. Lexus cannibalized their own sales regarding the GS with the ES. The GS just couldn't compete.
just picked up my 2015 Gs350 F-Sport a month ago at 77k miles. It’s amazing I love it , beautiful black with red interior too . came with Mark Levinson sound system, and a bunch of options
This is car is so reliable and I wouldn’t trade it for anything else, cheers !
My dad had a 2013 gs350 that thing could be a monster and also be gentle when u want it to be sadly it had been is discontinued
I own a red gs 350 and it's a chefs kiss. I love that car!
Massive congrats on your new GS my friend!
I have a 2007 GS with 291,000 miles. I purchased it pre-pandemic with 160,000 miles for about $10,000. I have not had a single issue. I wanted to get a 2014 GS but it was out of my budget at the time.
Dam that’s impressive, is your gs awd?
Massive congrats my friend and very happy to hear the positive experience you have had! You brought up some great points as well, stay blessed!
"Since it is a glorified Toyota." I use that expression also.
I am nuts about my GS.
Thanks for sharing your commentary.
Great content! If the previous owner used regular gas I think you can reset the pcm somehow to relearn the the shifing pattern
I hope that would help
Great information! I really like the GS for these years. Your one hundred percent correct on pricing for the mileage but a good looking /running Lexus never shows the year. I have a 2011 LS that (unless you are a car aficionado) most people always think is a newer model, but no warranty is not something I’d recommend to anyone ….
If you don't need to use the rear seats at all Then it doesn't matter. If you want room in the back seats for adults it's gotta be the Gs
Where did you go through to get your warranty? That sounds like a sweet deal.
@@consciousawakening4799 I used to work at Lexus and the finance department hooked me up with it after I bought the car. It usually costs $5500 but I paid $2200 for it and have claimed at least $8000 in warranty work 😂 my cars actually at Lexus rn getting some more warranty work done 😅 the warranty company is called AUL by the way.
GS all the way! I own one now and it has been a great vehicle! Your right on perception, people think if anything is European it is better! Some people never want to give credit to Asians for anything.
So true my friend always putting Euro cars on a pedestal. Those are fine cars but stuff like the GS deserves proper credit
@@350zlover2 they won’t do the research my friend, heck most people don’t even listen properly to the research, so many times people watch one of my videos and they literally comprehend everything as the opposite of what I actually said 😂
Never want to give credit to Asians?!!!! Asians make a great BMW and Mercedes product 😜. I love my 2015 GS350, and will never drive anything else because the germans really know what their doing.
@@smooth_ops2942 Lmao!!! 🤣😂
2013 GS Fsport owner
Bought simply because it’s not as common as the IS
Had a 2007 IS250(manual) years ago
Both good but I definitely enjoy the GS more
I love my GS F sport.
i really like Gs F sport.
rear wheel steering is great to have in big car.
you will get value for your money.
GS350 F sport red seats black exterior 2015
That best I naught this car with 30k miles in 2018
Best car I’ve ever had fun reliable not expensive simply the best
The is kills it.
Same engine but lighter
Love my 2015 GS. Will probably keep this car til my kids are old enough to drive. My kids is 3. Will probably still be drivable!
i just bought a 2013 lexus gs 350 f sport and it has white smoke for 5 seconds on cold start i read on the club lexus forum it might be the valve stem seals which i really hope isnt the case car only has 80k miles and i only put premium in it
Of course GS is a better car but IS is also very good.
How do you like the GS compared to how the Stinger drives?
The Stinger was a blast to drive. I had never had a car like that before. The GS is smooth and you can certainly feel the quality. The Stinger had good quality, but in the end, it was a Kia. I had numerous issues with the car. Within a week, the paint on the hood started to come off. That took two weeks to fix. I also had to replace the rotors twice. The first time Kia paid, but they would not pay for the second repair. So I took it to my local tire shop. After I got rid of the car, I got a letter from Kia saying that they knew there was a issue with the rotors and offered to fix them. Too Little, too late.
I like more the GS, thanks Kevin 😀
Same my friend
Love my GS
I have a IS350 but I prefer the GS350 because of the size.
Surprisingly you have more space in the front only your rear occupants would thank you for getting a GS
I had an 08 IS350 (Absolutely loved it until I totaled it) and then leased a new accord 2.0t for a bit and now I’m looking for a 2006 GS430. Gotta go right back to Lexus always
Bruh my 08 is350 got totaled this year :( it’s a shame these cars are absolute monsters from a dig.
@@HackNSlasHz oh god yeah. I’m now driving an 06 350 because I couldn’t stay away from it hahaha
I had both of these cars, get the GS.
Thanks for the excellent through comparison. Good valuable information.
Getting a 14' GS350 F sport w/ 110k miles for $13k, good deal? This will be a daily and possible hand me down to my kids first car. I want a reliable w/ maintenance car that I can count on but is somewhat fun to drive. I have other cars for blasting around in. I want this car to start and take me anywhere at anytime.
i drove my IS for a total of 6 months and i hated it more and more with each passing month!
i drove my GS for exactly 5 Years and i still love it! i got an LS now but i will for sure miss my Comfy GS
P.S. IS: this garbage only got "Hold Assistent" since the 2021 model - even tho GS has it since 2012 and they could have just take it from there ? not to wait 8 damn years!
"one of the most charismatic v6 experiences"
VQ37 has entered the chat
Reliability left the chat
@J35Y1 the g37 is definitely bulletproof they can take such a abuse just like the lexus ive seen them run with no oil or coolant and still strong
how will i determine if a car has been used on regular fuel rather than premium fuel?
Is it impossible?
just ask the seller or ask for a fuel flush to make sure
In Aust. Any GS is impossible to find in the last model🤔
Nice informative video Kevin.
Thank you!
Excellent Video Mate!
Thanks a lot!
GS stands for king of sedans
You mention that the engines feel slow due to the fact that people don’t use premium gas. Is there a way to “flush” and reverse the problem easily?
Some people say to reset the electronics in the system but I don't know if that will actually fix anything
I keep forgetting 2014s- 20202 are old cars ,lol looking At them from a 2000 GS××× they look pretty new to me.
My facelift 4GS450h is almost at 90.000 KM now. Only real issue I have is my rear taillights are wet on the inside, which doesn't fall under the 10 year extended warranty.
During maintenance earlier this week it turned out my front breaking discs are slightly warped.
Thank you for sharing!
Interesting, mine are alo slightly warped…It makes some whining noises when braking at certain speeds - but it is not that annoying as you may think.
@@olinator9676 If I brake hard and often i.e. the brakes are hot it shakes a bit more. Since It's a hybrid I barely brake at al anyway.
Looking at GS now. Are all 14+ AWD's 6 speed auto? Why would they only make 8 speed for RWD?
IS 🚀
I'm going to be in the market to replace my civic coupe (third baby on the way) and I'm looking between Acura and Lexus.
I would've gotten the GS350 if it was still around. I had to settle for the IS350.
This clunks on the gs is a weather strip replacement for the moonroofs lol
They are referring to suspension clunks and suspension squeaks pretty common on old saggy Lexus cars
I own a gs but am getting a is500 soon
IS 500 is def one of the best cars one can get around $60k
you can buy used Z06 for that bro
Excellent analysis again 👏
Thank you my friend!
Yo what is the name of the background music in this video? So chill!

How about the hybrid models? In Europe they they the most common.
What do yall think about a 13 gs 350 f sport with 10k miles

Are you reading my mind bro
Wow
My 2015 GS F Sport sings for me.....
Between the 2013-2015 GS350 model years, which (a) drive train I.e. Awd or Rwd., and (b) transmission I.e., 6 or 8 speed., would be most suitable for an exciting driving experience I.e., cornering, handling, etc.?
Def the RWD
@@MeynMotorGroup if RWD that comes only with the 8 speed (2014-15). Is there a significant difference between transmission performance between the 6 and 8 speed?
@@consciousawakening4799 not really both are fine just gotta test drive them because some neglected cars feel like junk to drive
@@ismaelpelaez7685awesome bro thank you. I actually ended up buying a Genesis 4.6 it’s plenty luxurious and enough pick up to be fun
Should buy a warranty if you don’t want worries but sadly once the warranty expires you will be in a constant state of worry again..
The base IS sound is bad, and worse than the base 2nd gen IS audio, from what I was told
From what I’ve read the sound quality on the IS with the ML is better than the GS with the ML, both the same reliability
Don't get any any IS 250. They carbon up and even if you clean it, it comes back. Plus it's underpowered. Research it. Go with the 2014 and newer 350 vehicles.
Im going to stop making fun of my 6 foot 3 homey who drives an IS 350
