    Thank you so much. You explained it very clearly. I am tired of breaking needles when I get ready to quilt with the same presser foot you have. I love my PC-420.

    Thank you! This info needs to be in the Brother sewing machine manuals! I touched my Luminaire screen by mistake, which set my needle position far to the right. Wasn’t able to get it reset to center so it would stay that way. Many thanks!

    It is a soooper answer. You have a good voice for the video. All you need is organization. We dont need to know about your likes and dislikes for your other machines. You can explain what machine you are working on and how your wonderful information may or may not work on other Brother machines. Start out then with theprocedure you are offering. I started writing the minute you talked about the needle and there were two of those before you got to the real one. I would like to know where your 6 page dissertation is to read please. I just took my machine to be cleaned and have the left needle position fixed. It had been correct for 14 years. andsomething else. It came back working smoothly except for the needle still starts at the left!!! I paid to have that fixed so I have called the place and am waiting for a call back. Thank you so much for how to do this. I am typing it up in big letters with your you tube Title and putting it on the wall.

      I started my channel to share with other appliance collectors and enthusiasts rather than as an educational series, and part of what we do in that community is compare products and update each other on the status of our current collections... but I would agree the other machines were definitely not what the subject of this specific video is about. Sorry you didn't like that part 🤣. It bothers me when things are off topic too sometiems, but since this was in the same genre, it didn't feel off topic to me when I did it. I'm glad this video has helped so many people! I don't make videos anymore, my job and life got crazy, but I miss it and hope to return one day, I just need a more professional set up and equipment and need to learn some editing skills... one day! Sadly, I sold the machine this video is about to a new quilter who really needed a good machine for a good price, I was "collecting" too many and needed the space. She destroyed it within the first 2 weeks 😭. I'm Aleroluver on Pattern Review... but be warned, my reviews are looooooong!

    Wow you just made my day I have had my pc420 for about a year now. I called the brother help line also, with same result they said there is nothing I can do about the needle position. I am a quilter also and I use the 1/4 inch foot about 90 percent of the time. so here is a big THANK YOU for solving something that really bugged me to pieces.

    Bobbie, YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW HAPPY I AM AT FINDING THIS VID!!! I have had my PC-420 for a week now and am totally in love with it. The only thing that has been really bugging me was the danged left needle at start-up thing. Arrrgh!! TY TY TY for putting this on YT!! Doing the Happy Hamster dance. :)

    As many others have, I stumbled on your video. Thanks again, breaking needles can be so dangerous. Smacking it can be scary & that's plenty. I got to know the machine for a couple years before this, now I have every reason to love the machine! I also subscribed, once you have great advice, I suspect you always will come up with something! Thanks for sharing it with us.....

    Thank you SOOOOOO much for this! Like really, thank you! I love this machine. I did not realize just how much I love this machine until this problem arose a couple of days ago. Like I was sulking and trying to find a replacement, then realized there was none. I realize that there are greater machines out there, but I have really bonded with this one. I only sew minor projects for myself or my daughter, but this one is so user-friendly smooth, and easy going....sorry very long-winded (friend in my head). Thank again.

    I just purchased the Brother LB7000 Computerized Embroidery Machine and I thought that it was odd that the Needle started off in the Far Left Position as well.
    Now I'm going 2 go in2 my stitch functions & see if I can set it in memory 2 start in the middle.
    Thanx 4 your tutorial...

    Hi Bobby! I commented below a year ago how happy I was to hear this left needle default position could be fixed. Am I correct in understanding if I change the settings manually, the left default returns. I learned how to quilt this year and lower the feed dogs & change the stitch width, will the settings still be saved in memory?

  • @gmaflor
    @gmaflor 7 лет назад

    I did it as you said and yes it saves me needles, but it also does not allow me to move the needle to different positions (unless I go and do the delete) and with quilting I found with this machine to get the "scant" 1/4 if I put the needle on 4 position is a perfect scant quarter

    I always sew with a 5.0 stitch length so I tried your saving method and it worked! Now when I turn the machine on it stays at the 5.0 length. This is great. One would think Brother would know their own machine better than anyone else. Right?

    I tried to save the needle position and it showed "Saving", but it did not work. I think there is something wrong with the memory, as it won't save anything. Called amazon and they are sending a new one as I just got it 8/27/15. Will try it then. Also won't save ANY needle position.
    Take care and thank you for the info.

    • @Aleroluver
      @Aleroluver  8 лет назад

      it does take a bit of finagling... I unscrew it with nickels since most screwdrivers are too large.... I think getting it off is easier than getting it back on because you have to get it at just the right angle and make sure things line up... but for normal maintenance, you only need to remove the gray bobbin cover which slides off easily... then brush under the black part where the bobbin sits... it takes a bit of trial and error.... I may do a video...

    I have a Brother SE400 sewing machine. I know how to thread the machine, but I can't. (It's suppose to thread automatically). I have to thread it manually because the needle is too far over to the left hand side for it to 'thread' itself. The needle itself is constantly rubbing against the throat plate, sometimes breaking off needles...It's a mess trying to sew like this! The air in my sewing room has turned a weird purple-ish-blue from me SWEARING at this damn machine...And my dogs run around BARKING like it The END of the WORLD, cause Mommy's YELLING at the flipping sewing machine...AGAIN!!! Like you, I have contacted Brother's about this. They kept me on the phone for 2 1/2 hours talking in circles about this, with NOTHING being solved! I wonder why the Brother's Sewing Machine Co. 'sets' the needle WAAAY OVER to the left hand side as a default?! Maybe to sell more needles?! (JK). OK, got it. Adjust needle to the middle and save settings. Cool! I bet this will work with my Brother SE400 sewing machine. Thank-you so much for the video and the info. You have saved 'Betsy Ross' (I named my sewing machine), from kissing a wall going 80 MPH! Anyway, great video. Two thumbs up and totally subscribed.

      It worked! On my machine, it was a bit different. All I had to do was, position the needle in the 'Center' by clicking onto the Needle's 'On' and 'Off' button settings. After the position was right, set the needle setting to 'Off' and it set it completely! YAY! No more broken needles! OMG! Bad enough we have computers...Now we have computerized sewing machines! LOL!
