Had a 1962 Econoline I bought in 1970 for 300 bucks (old telephone truck). Drove it for 11 years had 90000 miles when I bought it and 240000 miles when I sold it for 100 bucks. 6 months later I had a head on collision in my big Chevy car - thank heavens it didn't happen in that truck!!!!!
Nope I had a 83 g20 5 lug GMC van dura 305 vin h th400 no clean title had a title salvage mileage exempt from the dealer that sold it used for parts... still cost me and my uncle $950 for a 114k 84 GMC van, and other than the front doors were rusted out at the bottom and so were the rear doors... It was worth that to us for the th400 transmission and the 4 GMC rally wheels beaty rings and GMC center caps and fairly decent bfg radial ta tires

Back in high school in the late 70's, I always wanted to an old Econoline on Cragars or Keystone Classics and cruise around town with Ted Nugent Stranglehold blasting on the stereo. Lol
I'll say this right here, 2 minutes into the video. You haven't cleaned it up yet at all, but the bumps on the rear where those round tail lights sit, that little tiny hump that comes out boy oh boy that is probably the sexiest part of those old vans.. They surely don't make them like that anymore, and I"m real happy to see that here this week for your video!!

Great video I am 66 years old and like ever body my age I had couple of them. Old vans I remember there was body 10 of use one night riding round in it and it quit on use we had to push it up school house hill and cost back down to in town where my buddy's 57 4 door Chevy car was thanks for the video and the memories. 😂 P.S.that z71 sounding great to

back in the mid to late 70's/ early eighties, i used to goto work with my dad when he worked at uhaul. one time we were takin ona those from one uhaul to another haulin somethin or other, i cant remember and the shift linkage to the trans fell apart in the middle of winter in about 6 inches of slushy nasty snow. It had to be in the twenties outside, wind a blowin the works and my poor padre was under there freezin his ass off with me tryin to help him on the side of the hwy gettin splashed by slush the whole time. I learned alotta new words that day. As miserable as we were, i still think fondly on that memory cause we busted our butts to get to the destination soaked and freezin. ona my prouder moments. i was 8 or 9 i think. It did have heat i think but oh what a trip! Sweet home chicago! Thanks for bringin back that memory brother
My father had à 61 Ford Econoline window van like that, dark green and White around Windows. Took from pennslyvania To Texas in early 70's! My father's co-worker bought new in 61. Also had 65 Ford Econoline pickup with corner Windows in 80's and early 90's. Glad To see you got it running and driving again. Take care.
Love this One. Reminded me of my First Van(1953 Ford Econoline). It also had a 6 cylinder in it! Ran great until I had 1 too many martoonies and gunned it until one of the pistons departed out the side of the engine Block! Keep them coming would love to see more on this Van!

Just thought I'd share this, sometimes if you have any super glue handy, you can put some on the tip of your screwdriver then put in the screw head and it will hold long enough to get it started,, but the magnet idea works too! From what I've seen YOUR FATHER TAUGHT YOU WELL! YOUR A FINE MECHANIC! HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!!
That's a cool old van. It's pretty neat that it's still got his name on the side. I like that old straight six, 3 on the tree combo. Reminds me of when I was a kid. Great video. Some of these old vehicles just make you reminisce.
My father bought a new 1968 Dodge A100 with a 273 V8 and in 1977 I took my drivers test in it with 3 on the tree luckily he had a Dana 40 with policy in his great video. I enjoy watching all yours thank you retired US Army sergeant major Gamsby

Cool van and video, Most people dont realize, all the weight is over the front axle and none on the drive wheel, i am a chevy g10 guy, i bought my first one a 65, got it home, parked it in the grass over night, next morning, just the dew on the grass and mine was stuck, couldnt believe it, Later found outfrom another youtube chevy van guy, in 64 chevy put a heavy plate between the gas tank and rear bumper, just for traction, lol Just mean a good burnout vehicle!!! Lol... Good luck on it!!!

Seeing that van takes me back several years to my childhood in which the telephone company had many of those vans as well as many of the plumbing contractors and several other businesses in the Lexington Ky area. I am a huge fan of the Inline 6 cylinder engines and I really enjoyed your video.
I sent a earlier comment l bought 66 ford van off a painter back in 1989 the van was a telephone repair van for Lexington ky the orginal color was orange inside painted black outside cool van
This one is kinda special to me Chad. I owed a 1961 Ford Econoline pick up. Not the van. But, all the same as mechanical. The synchronizer in those always were not great. The do grind shifting down. The 6 cylinder were almost indestructible. And the ass end was to light. I always in winter. Would put sand bags filled over rear axels. To get some weight on rear end. Thanks for sharing!

My wife and I bought a 1960 something van very much like this one except ours had an auto trans. We bought it from a used car dealer in 1977. It was an interesting vehicle that gave me many opportunities to learn how to fix a Ford. Eventually sold it after a couple of years but sure would like to have it now.
In 1985 I bought a white '67 Econoline Supervan that had spent its previous life as a plumbing van. It was unusual as there was a dual barn type door on either side and in the back with no glass except windshield and front doors. My girlfriend and I took a 3 month 9 state road trip in that thing with no problems. After running out of cash, we worked along the way when we needed money for gas and groceries. Saw many memorable sights from hiking in and out of the Grand Canyon to her winning a jackpot at a grocery store in Reno to driving the PCH to snowboarding in Summit Co. and meeting some cool people along the way. That van cost me $500 back then, dirt cheap for memories that money can't buy. BTW, I cooked a few foil wrapped meals ie (hamburger patties & fried potatoes & onions)or canned stew on the exhaust manifold while driving. When you could smell that the food was close to done rising from the doghouse (engine compartment) you knew it was time to pull over and eat. Just remember, if you are heating canned food on the manifold, poke a small hole in the top...when a can of chili overheats and explodes💥 it leaves one hell of a mess around the motor and in your underwear!
One really good way to magnetize your screwdrivers, wrap a wire around your screwdrivers a bunch of times like a coil from one end to the other and tap a 12 Volt battery.. Instantly magnetized!😜Some old timer taught me that years ago it works really good

That was cool. I did a 66 Dodge decades back, set 15 years. Drove it 40 miles home. Gave it away but I sure wish I could find one like it again

Saw many memorable sights from hiking in and out of the Grand Canyon to her winning a jackpot at a grocery store in Reno to driving the PCH to snowboarding in Summit Co. and meeting some cool people along the way. That van cost me $500 back then, dirt cheap for memories that money can't buy.
BTW, I cooked a few foil wrapped meals ie (hamburger patties & fried potatoes & onions)or canned stew on the exhaust manifold while driving. When you could smell that the food was close to done rising from the doghouse (engine compartment) you knew it was time to pull over and eat. Just remember, if you are heating canned food on the manifold, poke a small hole in the top...when a can of chili overheats and explodes💥 it leaves one hell of a mess around the motor and in your underwear!

One really good way to magnetize your screwdrivers, wrap a wire around your screwdrivers a bunch of times like a coil from one end to the other and tap a 12 Volt battery.. Instantly magnetized!😜Some old timer taught me that years ago it works really good
