You are absolutely spot on about Star Wars design....it, to me, was the movie's strongest asset. I grew up in London and was 8 when it came out in '77. I remember seeing the Don Post Stormtrooper helmets advertised in the back of a 'Creepy' comic, my dad had brought some home from the US. I wanted that helmet so bad....it was so striking, so iconic. I finally, more recently, came to own a replica which I love.... But to see, close up, and original screen used prop is fantastic. 👍
Wow. Now that is cool. It's definitely something that speaks to people of our age group. All those close ups were very nice. Interesting to see the imperfections. They all look cookie cutter on screen, but up close, you can see the flaws. Which just makes it all the better.
No doubt. I remember Christopher Nolan saying he remembers a span of about 2 years in his life when every kid's birthday party was the same... go see Star Wars in the theater.

Completely agree. It's fascinating how much they were making up things as they went along technique-wise in that first movie.
@Object History right. Even after Star Wars made it big, they still used a potato as an asteroid in one scene. Back in the good old days before CGI.
I prefer the rougher look of A New Hope the same way I prefer the rougher look of Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Definitely.
Star Wars was truly THE MOVIE when it came to science fiction ( I sacrificed a lot garbage cans and vacuum cleaners rtyhing to build my own R2D2 )
