    I do this every day for a living. You did a great job. The only thing I would advise is to use petroleum jelly (Vaseline) on the O-rings and inlet seals. I always over lubricate the rotor blades as well with plenty of air tool oil. I also put the entire motor assembly together before I put it into the housing.
    Overall, good job.

    Thanks for the video man. My impact spins on its own and I’ve had the gun for 11 years now, I’m too stubborn to give it up. Now I can rebuild it confidently. 🤙🏻

      @@loutasks3637 Spins on its own? So the motor & anvil are turning without pressing the trigger? I had a broken air inlet valve seat do that; air was getting in all the time.

    • @NewShockerGuy
      @NewShockerGuy Год назад

      This is exactly what my 2135 is doing now. I took it apart and saw that the oring/seat cover had a huge chunk missing... so it was letting air in all the time. I'll be rebuilding the impact tonight with the kit I bought.

  • @NewShockerGuy
    @NewShockerGuy Год назад

    Thank you for this. I was using my 2135TI and all of a sudden it just started spinning on it's own. I took apart the shaft area to find out that clearish gasket was broken/chunk missing. So i'm assuming that's what was letting the air go through constantly.
    Found the rebuild kit. and and should have it tomorrow. I didn't realize it was this easy to rebuild from watching your video! I figure if this lasts me another 15 years I'll be happy!

  • @56stikman

    Good job. One thing I'd like to mention for people watching is the front plate of the motor on these. It's critical to the power and it's soft metal and will wear from the rotor. Your's looked ok from what I saw. No rebuild kit will give a wrench new power when that is worn. Advise to check that and the hammers and anvil where they contact before buying a rebuild kit when power is down. Also, on these they will blow an o-ring on the direction valve and you can feel the air blowing out the buttons when you pull the trigger, makes them very weak as well. Many times a rebuild kit won't increase the power ,it's other issues causing low power.

      56stikman thanks for the info man, I rebuilt mine a few months ago but I still felt it weak, I overlooked the front plate, I'll take it apart again and check for wear, thanks alot man.

      can you elaborate on what that part is and what to look for before I look at rebuilding mine? Also, how do I know if I need both kits to fix my gun? I am losing power for sure, and its probably 6 years old (non-commercial use)

    Use. Anvil is about ready to shear off, so I was contemplating a hammer kit, or just a new gun all together. When I saw you comment about both kits for a rebuild, and a link to your video, I ordered both up. Hoping the cylinder still has some life left in it!👌🏻

    Big thanks, with your instructions I was able to easily rebuild mine that has always air going thru even if I didn't touch the trigger. By the way, the bearings are clearance fit and not interference. Otherwise a press would have been needed to put them in. But awesome job! thank you!

    NOTE The front bearing plate will install in more than one position. , IN the front counterbore where the FRONT bearing goes notice 1 large rectangular recess and 1 or 2 much smaller recesses. THE LARGE RECESS GOES TOWARDS THE(BOTTOM) TRIGGER SIDE OF THE GUN.

    co worker swapped out his worn pos 2135 TI for my new one prior to him leaving for another job and did not notice at first my power was down as I keep 3 spare guns so not caught with pants down when at work so wasn't till 2 years later when I was going to tear it apart that noticed the gun did not have my initials engraved and all my tools get engraved within a day of purchase. sat in tool box for 12 years untouched till decided to look for rebuild video (cause that's what we do these days is watch people make mistakes on u tube) was pleased on tear down to not have destroyed anvil condition and only needed interior cleaned up and lubed to operate as new again. previous owner was a shit head and most definitely did not lube daily as all my other tools are so rebuilding air tools is not something I have needed to do in 30 years .. video was good except last part when installing anvil cover plate you did not describe the orientation which I did when tear down was done .. its common sense how it goes on but a lot of people lack that gift (on u tube)
    No parts were needed at this time will save video if down the road need to do it again.
    ps how the red buttons are removed is not in detail and i simply left them in and this sorta pissed me off as i wanted to do an entire tear down and clean and knowing those buttons were not cleaned on the inside is infuriating..

      the direction buttons are held in by small locking tabs, simple push in the forward button, then insert a small screw driver between the reverse button and the small bit of frame material separating the two buttons, then pry the the reverse button out, same removal for the forward button.

    • @jdcooper38
      @jdcooper38  7 лет назад

      Robert Vitucci you may have done this already, but check that the anvil and hammers move freely. If the hammers jam it can free spin but have no power. If it just blows air in forward and does not spin, that kinda sounds like an oring on the reverse valve maybe. Make sure all your orings are lubed to help in sealing and not dry rotted. That's about all I can think of at the moment without actually looking at it. Hope you find the problem.

      Mike Yarboro sorry I do not know. I do know that the cost for me to do this rebuild was around $94-96 I think. And those two kits I bought off Amazon. A shops price on parts might be alittle higher or alittle lower plus their labor fee.

  • @jdcooper38
    @jdcooper38  8 лет назад

    Thanks Domingo. I found the buttons on Amazon, copy this link to your browser. These are for the 2135timax:

    If that doesn't work, search for "IRT2135-K75" on Amazon.
    Amazon has some other parts too if anybody is looking. I've seen the whole inlet bushing with throttle kit, the reverse valve, and I think the speed selector knob for sale on Amazon.

      pull the anvil in and out by hand, there should be lateral play in the anvil anywhere from .012 to .035. If there is no play, the front motor housing bearing is pressing the hammer cage in to the the hammer housing preventing free movement, often times the hammer housing will get hot within a few seconds.

      Gary Easom once the clips are released and slides only halfway, this is where you yank the housing straight off the inlet bushing. This is easiest with it mounted in a vise. You can see this in the video starting at 2:15. Hope this helps. Thanks

      Nick Miller I measured my old trigger oring, looks to be 1/4" OD and 3/16"ID. Keep in mind, it actually may be a metric oring. I'd probably go to Napa with the trigger and try a fitting. It should stretch some going on the trigger but still seal in the handle. Hope this helps.

    Hiya on my 2135 the trigger has stuck in would you know what part has probably failed to cause this

    • @jdcooper38
      @jdcooper38  7 лет назад +1

      ricky fuller the back of the trigger has a stem with a hook on the end, the throttle valve stem on the inlet bushing is what the trigger hook connects to. Pull the inlet bushing assembly out( this is shown at 1:45 in the video) and check that the throttle valve metal stem is still in place and look inside the handle. You can see the plastic stem of the trigger, hopefully not broken. It's possible the throttle stem came out of the hook. If all is ok, position the trigger hook to the middle of handle interior and reinsert inlet bushing assembly ensuring the throttle valve metal stem engages the hook. If one of them is broken, those parts can be gotten on amazon. Hope this helps.

      I used Ingersoll Rand 105-1LB, which is a 1lb can of grease. Way more grease than I’ll ever need for air tools, lol. The manual also says you can use Ingersoll Rand 115-4T, which is a smaller quantity in a tube. Should be plenty for the bearings and hammer case.
