Your voice is amazing, incredible and clear voice, I love to listened all your Historic and Geopolitical documentaries, Keep going forward, much appreciated.
King Faisal was not only an Islamic leader but also humane unlike the Tyrants Saddam and Gaddafi etc. don't compare King Faisal of Saudi Arabia with those who cared for the power and killed a lot of innocent people.
I’m of Kurdish descent and my parents are originally from Slemani (Sulaymaniyah) in Iraqi Kurdistan. My dad had to flee from Saddam to Europe in 1999 and we joined him later in 2005, when I was seven. I remember being five years old when news broke out about an imminent American invasion to overthrow Saddam. Rumours started to spread that he would use chemical weapons on the Kurdish regions again, and everyone, including my family, started to insulate all the windows with plastic foil. We had all our stuff packed to flee to the mountains so we could at least be safe in case of a chemical attack. People started to calm down after there were no signs or indications that he would use the chemical weapons. When the Americans then actually invaded and overthrew Saddam, everyone took to the streets and celebrated like crazy. My dad and my grandpa were both arbitrarily arrested and rounded up, tortured for months before they were released. Two of my uncles were executed and they sent a letter to my family that we had to pay for the bullets if we wanted to get the bodies back so we could bury it. It is going to be an unpopular opinion, but the American invasion was a good thing for all of Iraq but the Americans messed up this golden opportunity by their absolutely horrible decision making & governance, that it caused a religious civil war between sunni & shia Iraqi Arabs. Two examples: -Americans dissolved the Iraqi Army, Fedayeen militia’s and the Republican Guards, which suddenly made 500 000 armed men unemployed and without an income to provide for their families, proving to be very fertile ground for an insurgency against the Americans. -They fired & relieved anyone of their positions who were members of the Baath party. Under Saddam, you had often as a prerequisite to be member of the Baath party to get a job or any social mobility. This essentially meant that the Americans decapitated the Iraqi State and its ability to govern, as more than 100 00 civil servants (bureaucrats, doctors, teachers, professors, engineers, judges, directors etc..) were fired. If the US had properly helped the transition the country to a full fledged democracy instead of driving it right into the abyss, things could have turned out much better without causing a civil war. Sad that Iraqi’s had to pay the price for sheer American incompetence. Thank you for your video!
Thank you for sharing your story and your opinion. You make a very sentient point about the American Invasion not inherently being a bad thing, but rather the mismanagement of it being the real cause for the chaotic state of Iraqi politics for the next 2 decades. They did a similar thing in Afghanistan (where I'm from originally) - America flooded AFG with so much aid money that it could actually rebuild itself; but as a result of their mismanagement, supporting corrupt AFG politicians and the corruption of their own military-industrial complex AFG state was destined for failure.
You leave out alot on the start of the Iran-Iraq war, you dont mention khomeini threatened to overthrow saddam, you dont mention saddam tried to establish good ties at the start, you dont mention Khomeini deounced the algeris agreement, and sent troops into the iraqi exclave, and occupied it for iran which was later taken back by iraqis in a skirmish, which was started by iran, which is also going into how iran started hundreds of skirmishes with iraqi forces, you also leave out Irans artillery strikes on iraqi towns, instead you make it look like the war was just saddams erotic idea, instead this war was started by khomeini, saddam sought peace very face, because he didnt need the war, he wanted to scare the iranians, and establish abuffer and leave. This video shows alot of bias to iran on the Iran-iraq war, many iranian authors of books even agree that khomeini had insighted the war, and saddam had won it.
And we are still like that, everything we live today as a people is the result of his wrong actions, and we must not forget the role of the criminal George Bush in handing Iraq over to Iran on a golden platter.
The amount of cab drivers in London who will give me a lecture on how great Saddam was for 30 minutes straight is astounding. What ever you do, do not tell the driver you are Iraqi when he asks where are you from.
39:38 - A country with only 14000 soldiers is absolutely banking on external help in times of crisis. It's kind of remarkable how that was possible in the post-WW2 period.
Some issues with this documentary, Saddam Hussain, did not receive arms from the US other than some helicopters. US Aid was mostly just humanitarian aid. Iran had received great amounts of arms from Israel and America. Also, Ayatollah Khomeini had a plan drawn for attacking Iraq, as he wanted control of Karbala. Ayatollah Khomeini used to say, "The road to Mecca and Medina is through Karbala."
He was a terrible leader easily manipulated by Americans. i.e. Iran war, Kuwait war. If you look at how much oil Iraq has, if he just sat on his oil it would be a thriving country but his leadership led to L after L for Iraq.
He was a curse and misfortune upon both the Iraqi people and people of the region. He was a Western backed stooge who did the bidding of the colonial powers. They washed their hands of him when he went rogue , invasion of Kuwait. When in power, he enriched himself and his tribe while mercilessly killing anyone who dared challenge his rule.
Athletes respect other athletes. Businessmen respect other businessmen. You do not respect Saddam Hussein because you're not equal to him. You're not a fellow dictator who has spoken and dealt with Saddam Hussein, so how can you possibly have respect for him? You ADMIRE Saddam Hussein. You're just someone watching a video about him. Don't act like you're some big shot who gets to decide which leaders or dictators are worthy of your respect. What respect have YOU earned? Such a ridiculous comment...
Why? He was a complete idiot outside of scrambling for power within the Ba'athist party, he ruined Iraq, couldn't even beat Iran at its weakest, and murdered thousands because he was a maniac How tf do you respect that
25:02 Israeli Uzi… I wonder how the Iranians got it… oh that’s right. Israel was selling them weapons. The host of this show is not telling the full story and he has obvious Iranian leanings
In the 1980s, both Israel and Iran were trading indirectly through front companies. The leadership of both the zionist entity and Iran were fully aware of what was going on. It's a well-known fact that spare parts for F14 Tomcat fighter jets were being supplied from Israel to Iran. However, when Iran started to support Hizbollah in Lebanon, Israel withdrew supplying the components.

Around week three of my first deployment to Iraq, I, as many others also have, came to the conclusion that not only was Saddam exactly what those ppl deserved he was actually what those ppl needed. To judge Saddam's actions using Western norms is a mistake.
Does some countries like Iraq need strongman rulers?

Sir, I would request you to please make a video on his uncle, by far, the most influential person on Saddam's Life.

Thank you for the kind words!
Saddam purging his opponents on live television while smoking a cigar is one of the most gangster things I have ever seen
I want you to make these videos:
1. The full story of Maummar Gaddafi🇱🇾
2. The Full story of Shah Faisal🇸🇦
Absolutely. Very important men in history, many would say the few that were honorable despite any mistakes or flaws.
Both good ideas. Faisal one especially excites me!

is this a reposted video? I feel I've already watched it a few days ago. It was the video that made me subscribe. But again that was a few days ago.
It's a compilation of sorts but with new bits added here and there.
