  • Some Penn Central action in the Amtrak era at Midway tower (Monmouth Jct), followed by older late Pennsy era runbys at Princeton Jct. Compare to my later Princeton Jct videos to see the considerable build up in that area.

First class blast from the past: the “Dinky” the “ Congressional”, “GG1s”, “MP54s” and the “Keystone” set!

It's amazing how you keep finding all this great footage. The Amtrak train at 7:50 has one of the Seaboard's unique 5 bedroom "sunroom lounge" sleepers - in Amtrak livery!

great movie ! and lots of nice shots of freights and the different freightcars. All that very much any gg1 and the same type of freights as any day on expensive 8 mm film. But sure is gold today ! thanks !

Holy, this is absolutely incredible. I swear, it's like your reading my mind with these recent uploads. I'm obsessed with this stretch of the northeast corridor, and am actually working on a digital rendering of S. Elizabeth station, as well as some historical documents of the line through Belle Mead, which I pass on the way to high school every day.

Loved it!....I'm a retired civil engineer, and my former employer has been doing - and still does - several projects for the entity that manages the parking lots and other infrastructure at the PJC station. I couldn't help but have a happy smile and a chuckle when I saw the vast open grassy spaces where there are now parking lots with hundreds of spaces; the old Pullman cars from PRR, PC, etc., especially on the "Dinky Line"...And the freight trains!?!...I lived in the area for 30 years and never recalled any significant movement of freight (1989 onward), so I guess that ended before my time. Anyway, thanks for a great video!....Shared it with my pals from the old company and parking authority.

Track four platform at Princeton Junction is just as I remembered it, I had my first train ride at 5 years old from Princeton to the Junction in 1961. Little did I know I would get hired in Track dept at Amtrak in 1997 and be in the maintenance gang at Nassau which was just north of the Princeton Hightstown bridge.

7:42--The "Keystone" cars. The cars that had most of the coach seats lower than the entrance level. Supposed to have provided a smoother ride. Were a complete failure.

Wow, weird seeing Princeton Junction all low level! The station had some character back then, still does I suppose but the platforms need some TLC. Will be interesting to see if the Dinky survives or gets replaced with a bus as I fear is likely.

I travel out of Princeton Junction. Platforms are much higher. I never see freight trains on those rails.

I always try to narrow down when the apocalypse started and we all had to suffer looking at all those graffiti-covered freight cars....I think we made it thru the 70's, maybe early 80's w/o all that vandalism - er, um, I mean Art (yeah, right) - but by the 90's all hell broke loose.
