- The follow up to the most popular mod for Empyrion Galactic Survival is finally in beta. Reforged Eden 2 has been made from scratch to remove so many of the limits and inconsistencies in RE1 due to vanilla assets, config etc etc. Ravien and Vermillion have worked tirelessly to bring us new POIs, missions, weapons and an entire galaxy to explore. So lets take the brand new beta version for spin and see what we have!

This game deserves so much more than is given to it... Its so much better than No man's Sky or Space Engineers in so much aspects. How is this game so underrated?

i hate to say it, but im not a fan of some of the new icons. i realized what i think my biggest problem with them is. a LOT of them are just sci fi-looking canisters that could be ANYTHING if you havent learned what it is yet. anything from pentaxid to meds to fuel to aluminum powder to water to air. theyre all just a non-descript futuristic canister. the old biofuel made sense because it looked like something most people are familiar with, a jerry can. we all know thats fuel. the water was just a bottle of water. o2 suit refills looked like scuba tank. emergency o2 looked like the little ones you put in airsoft guns. aside from that, im kind of on the fence about the raw ores. some look a little too similar. also the ammo changes kinda bug me. 7.62 looks like 6.5 creedmoor. and 5.56 just doesnt look like 5.56. i never really go on discord so idk if anyone feels the same way. hate to be a downer, just my 2 cents.

So mining cobalt while standing on an sv, spoilers you can connect to the cargo container by clicking the little wifi button top middle of your screen when looking at your ships inventory, that way unlike Spanj you wont drop you're cobalt on the ground...

about the other spellings. He only changed it to Aluminium when he was back in England
and was bullied to change the spelling so there were no chances people would think they
were Americans saying it.
Think I am wrong? They asked Davy about who he taught this to and specifically, if he taught
it to Americans. So, he was bullied to change it under the asinine guise of "We wanted it to sound classical"
when really it was to not sound American. It's not the way the man wanted to coin that term and he was bullied.
So, as far as I am concerned it's Aluminum.

I'm looking at the SV's top down profile. I've decided it look like those rubber bollocks that my fellow American country boys attach to the undercarriage of their 4x4 pickup trucks. Therefore the ship shall be known in my household as the "Plastic Bollocks" SV
i take screenshots of what they want and then tirn the otems in if i'm in the area i attach the screenshot to a spreadsheet with the locations
is the knife for anything useful or is it just for show? Don't you need the DLC for melee combat?
They "work" and do damage but have no animations. Source: I don't have Dark Faction.
Needs to be a higher penalty for dying. I start out honest enough, but eventually I find myself letting myself die as the fastest way to cure bad effects
Have the missions gotten better? I ragequit a long while ago when there was one where you attacked a base on a moon, and then went through a teliporter into the middle of a bunch of enemies.
I remember a number of fairly annoying missions that just felt not thought out well, like the one where you had to talk to some dude on a floating base, which iirc had no landing pad, and no way to get up from the ground.
What happened to your waypoint? You checked the box that said remove on approach.
Reforged eden 2 looks grindier than 1 so i wonder how many will switch over to RE2 or stick to one.
It's not that drastically more grindy.And besides, re1 is done, no more updates
I'm hoping a RE2 version of RE1 Unbalanced/Ad Astra/Cowboys that are more in line with a singleplayer experience will come out, either later in beta or once it is fully released. I tried Ad Astra and liked many of the changes (shield parts give more shields for example), however everything seemed almost _too_ powerful. I would like a middle ground. However, I do understand Vermillion's vision of this gritty, dangerous galaxy that you as one person can't just fly around opening a can of whoop ass on everything, but at the same time I like becoming disgustingly overpowered if I put the work in. I also really like the new weapon system, it blows RE1 and the vanilla game out of the water. I hope in the future Eleon will add in aspects of it, so I'm torn on RE2. On one hand, I really like most of the changes that were made to it. On the other hand, no disgustingly overpowered do-everything flying cities bristling with guns, and crew being more rare and limited per ship makes me kind of sad.
On the upside, with these changes I see small, compact, heavily armored, highly detailed, RP heavy ships becoming more popular.
It is quite a bit more of a grind. Also, thanks to bleed-through you can now lose critical ship components while your shield is up so we're back to the days when a slow combat steel shoebox is the only thing that's viable in combat. It's like they took everything we loved about RE and threw it out the window, then doubled down on everything that made it a drag. I'm so glad I still have the older version.
Basically I just spawned in the Hammerhead starter for vanilla. I am looking at Reforged Eden 2 now. Do I want to spend months playing vanilla or do I check out Reforged Eden 2 now. I am learning Reforged Eden 2. Not sure if the vanilla is worth it for the time involved.
Combat in RE2 is way more difficult as most NPC's have some form of shield penetration. Learn to use combat steel or xenosteel plating and bury your fuel/O2 tanks deep.
Fuel/O2 tanks aren't targetable. Gens, weapons, thrusters, and warp drive are what you need to worry about.
@@Stansbrokenhandle Uh huh... Tell me more about that after a nearby blast from a plasma artillery or missile causes a fuel tank to explode....
Like a fuel tank never possibly gets between your generator and something you're fighting...

@@Stansbrokenhandle Yeah, that's because some of us get into real fights and don't use the console commands to turn the AI off... We deal with ships that move and occasional adds due to how the AI reacts...

I'm not fully on-board with RE2 yet. I don't like the intentional dismissal of the ability to build large space ships (i.e Battlestar Empyrica) and to hear from Vermillion that players are "not intended" to be able to mount all weapons, etc "An endgame RE2 CV should be comparable to a Zirax Destroyer or Cruiser. You will never make a ship as large, as armored, or as armed as a Tovera. So you will never stand equal to one in a fight." is disappointing to say the least. I guess I'll have to wait and see.
RE2 is such a pain in the ass. Your shield doesnt protect your ship now, still blocks take damage through shield. bazillion groundtroups around every poi, killing your shield with handheld weapns.want to conquer it? oh hey dont think about going with HV with the terrain. an Sv must have 2 quant lev 25, cv dont work for bases cause weaponrestrictions with planets with space only. WHY????. Turrets dont target mounted guns that f. stupidity kills your shields so fast and again penetrating shield and damaging blocks. poi sentries are where you cant make your hv to raise its nose and no zoom function., thruster only work ok with the highest upgrade , the rest is garbage. no hitscan beams now you can only take an iceming drill and set them to gens to know where gens are. cant target the core, and cant see things from distance. has Vermillion ever thought of people playing this game solo? all in all RE2 is still in Beta but i see no advancements to re 1. Aside from new POI, which are nice RE2 is a piece of garbage.
the weapon loot drops are horrible

Amazing how all this magnificence fails to include VR playability! What a loss of wonderful VR experiences to remain unexpierenced!
This janky ass game doesn't deserve a VR experience.
RE2 looks good, but the silly reloading, I wonder if the modders can't change that. Shake it but don't break it! 😂 How is the AI? My friends won't even touch the game because the terrible AI.
