you really need to stop driving backwards
When I was editing it, I was thinking how much it reminded me of early Disney films with the terrible background going past - except the divider screen in the van makes it look like I'm reversing everywhere!
@@MarkFixesStuff Ha, reminded me of "Police Squad", and Frank Drebbin "Driving back to the station".
@@dj_paultuk7052 She was a dame with legs that wouldn't quit
Objective completed, you made your own smelly box and filled it.
@@brendonelton no one else will
The innuendos were even greater in this video.
I really enjoyed this video, an interesting watch for someone with zero knowledge of laser cutters like me. Thank you!
@@Theseanparker I have a similar level. It’s a cool thing though. Not sure how I’ll get it doing retro stuff but…
I Like Big Boxes by Sir Packs-a-lot
Oh, my God, Becky, look at that box
It is so big, it’s like one of those shipping guys’ packages
But, you know, who understands those shipping guys?
They only pack it because it’s huge, okay?
I mean, that box, it’s just so big
I can't believe it's just so square, it’s like, out there!
I mean, it's massive, look! It’s just so... boxy!
(Chorus)
I like big boxes and I cannot lie
You other geeks can't deny
That when a crate rolls in with that big wide space
And that brown tape in your face
You get sprung, wanna pull out your tape gun
'Cause you notice that box was stuffed, son!
Deep in the crate it’s sealed,
I'm hooked and I wanna feel
That cardboard wrap, so strong and snug
That packing’s tight like a bug in a rug!
Both epic and slightly worrying at the same time!!! Brilliant!
@@MarkFixesStuff Just like my ex-wife 😬
Sand the lid then paint the text black with rainbow colours, then varnish!
That could be good!!!!!
Mark, I saw the title and I thought I was going to have to report you to RUclips. 🤣🤣🤣
It's a cigar box for a Speccie. For a first time, that looks fantastic.
Hand rolled on Sir Clive’s thigh
@@MarkFixesStuff 🤣🤣🤣
Who else clicked immediately to see Mark cut sheet goods with a hand saw? I haven't seen a EU/NA type hand saw used in like 40 years. And I'm a contractor most of the time. You can cut that thin luan with a utility knife. Well, I can anyway. ;)
There's actually three different thumbnails that youtube is testing I think!
I bought the saw at the shop because my power tools are "in a box in storage", and I have no idea which one... £8 so not too bad.
Quick watch, with jumping to the end result...
It looks wonderful to my eye!
@@miikasuominen3845 thanks Miika!!!
@@MarkFixesStuff Ten Pounds!
Of course, just kidding! 😝
Wow, that is a nice machine. I want it...
It's good because there's very little fumes that escape.
Lemmings in the bin?
I was wondering if anyone would notice!!!!!
How long has that been in there?
Is that like David Brent "throwing away" Inside Paper magazine?
Crazy idea: Make a case for a computer with the Falcon.
@@JVHShack I’m considering it!! Need to learn how to work the software first though
Omg I had no idea up until a year ago we lived so close to each other . I literally just saw you drive through Blackwater into Camberley and pass the two pubs I used to drink in where I used to live 😂😂
@@klondykeklown Mr Bumbles and The Royal Swan. The Swan is bloody awful now.
@@MarkFixesStuff Yh I heard about the Royal Swan. Mr Bumbles though for the live music . To be fair when I live opposite in the flats above the old bank building. Didn’t even need to go, just open my windows for a live music event whilst I soldered circuit boards 😂
I'll bet Neil doesn't have a fancy laser.
Haha!!! Thank you Emile. I’ll have to ask him!
While I love your videos and your style, I'm more into the fixing stuff thing than the exploring new stuff thing.
@@Fredthefat I totally get that. I was saying to patrons before. I can’t do the fixing for a bit because I am moving out of this space and everything project wise is in boxes. I’m hoping to have somewhere to go in about six weeks. Until then I’ve got to lean on the unboxing and trying stuff I’m afraid. I prefer the fixing too. I’ve got a ton of projects to get on with.
@@MarkFixesStuff I totally get where you are, and, it's your channel, and I know you have to make content. All good. I'm not complaining, just saying what I like. Never expected there would be no fixing, and super happy you have fixing plans.
Peeps , please be careful with your wood! Some ply is VERY not laser compliant. It burns and fumes horrible. I buy mine from Kitronik , the glue is laser friendly. My hobby is model aircraft, and 8 bit stuff.
Thanks for this. I didn’t know.
@@MarkFixesStuff My cuts come back no more than 'golden brown', not soot black. All down to the wood and GLUE !
Love your stuff Mark.
@@markpitts5194 Thank you! I also think I set the power too high. I've since noticed a distinct lact of paint on the metal tray.......
@@MarkFixesStuff OK matey ! Your diode laser has a better focal length than my co2 tube. What we are both doing is putting enough photons in one place to make stuff vaporise. NOT BURN!. Diodes do things differently to gas tubes, but, that's just down to wave lengths.
From the gas laser point of view, most things will just 'bugger off'. ABS plastic cuts great, however ABS (computer case) plastic fights back because it is FULL of talcum powder. CO2 laser v stone (talc is stone) 0:1, it don't work!
It is so much easier to chose a supplier of compatible material. Anything from BnQ does not count.
Too much power is just too much when cutting. Dont worry, or up the speed.
@@markpitts5194 yeah I’m learning. There’s a list of stuff not to cut with a laser of tool be gassed to death. I read that early. Didn’t suspect ply tbh. I really want to get some acrylic, it seems that side layers will only cut certain colours?
When I found out that B&Q had a free wood cutting service when you get wood, I designed and made a stereo cabinet and a bookcase for my DVD's and 8-Track cartridges.
It turns out I'm really bad at measuring, drilling, glueing and designing. LOL.
When you have a laser cutter, everything looks like it needs to be cut with lasers. My local Maker space has one and so far I have used it to make custom enclosures for two GBS Controls, a Colecovision clone, and the most complex was a shell for a Microbee. That one was all angles and it took a bunch of attempts in cheap MDF before I made the final in acrylic.
My next big laser cutter project will be my much delayed Amiga 1200 case. (My A1200 came in a PC conversion which didn't survive the trip to Australia so time to build a new one)
I've only been working on it for (Checks dates) six years 😀
@MarkFixesStuff
I'd leave it alone. It looks good, a bit rustic. Give it just a bit of oak stain, varnish it and call it good!
22:59 interestingly I've measured my Speccies to be 233 mm wide, as can be seen on my site. (I've measured all my machines because these figures are nowhere on the interwebs)
@@MarcKloos I used a metal rule on the widest part of the machine.
What a fabulous gadget. The possibilities are endless. Make boxes for everything! (insert maniacal laughter). On video, the slight charring gives the logo a bit of a 3D effect, or is that just my ancient eyes 😄 You could hand paint the diagonal stripes? Excellent video and thanks for the humour.
That looks like a nice bit of kit ... i do like Crealitys stuff ... Mmmm, what to make next 🤔
I had the Police Squad/Naked Gun theme playing in my head during the van trip.
Postman Pat
I really missed a trick not doing that. These are the files of Fried Squid
Cow Pat.
What could possibly go wrong
Many things DB… many things…
Great video. Could it make a wooden zx spectrum itself? I guess you'd need to somehow work the wood somehow to create the curves of the sides but a wooden face plate and outer casing would look very cool.
Did you get this later cutter for free?
Yes, that’s why you’ll see the “This video contains paid promotion” pop up. If you get anything provided or if someone actually pays you money to feature an item you’re meant to check the box. I’m not sure if it’s the law, but it’s certainly in the RUclips trends and conditions of being a partner.
That box looks awesome.
(nice downsizing for the move btw. lol)

I forgot my laser goggles! 😶🌫
Gaffer tape over the eyes. 👀 sorted ✔️
you might want to check your driver side tire, looks low on air. Stay safe mate.
You forgot to add the link for the screwdriver set! 🤣
Damn. Now I’m 72p down.
@@MarkFixesStuff 😁
You can get rid of excess smoke on the material by wiping lightly with slightly soapy sponge.
Engrave it in color! ;)
Apparently that’s a thing on steel????
Are you sure the plastic cover sheet wasn't covering the hole inside the fan? 🤔
@@MarcKloos definitely not. I would have noticed fast!
You obsession with a certain male body part is worrying, to say the least 😂
Make an actual spectrum case😊
You know what, I was considering that sort of thing but my design skills aren’t quite good enough yet. I have a working dragon 32 board but nohing else… no idea how to do a keyboard either…
I wish more had drawers.
@@RyanMercer definitely useful
I've watched a lot of videos about the Falcon2 Pro, and I was really happy to see a Mark Fixes Stuff video about it, that aligns more with my interests (and my lack of knowledge of laser cutting). Great video, and I really like that the video isn't just doing the same thing as all the others that cover this laser cutter.
I would have liked to know how long it took to cut the box though (or maybe i just wasn't listening properly).
Glad you enjoyed it! From memory it was about eight minutes, but I can’t be sure. About that though. I think it could have run faster as well.

Downsizing?
@@TheErador I can’t afford to use this space anymore so it’s back to the dining room table for now.
@@MarkFixesStuff haha i know, it just seemed like a very big extra item to stow in your smaller space, but if you needs it, you needs it.
@@TheErador It arrived a few months ago, ad with it being bulky it seemed a good idea to get it filmed and out of the way. I really want to do some retro stuff now!
