Update 11/11/2024: It appears that Qidi has reached out to users for part replacements and will be extending their warranty by an additional year. For more information, please refer to the Qidi Plus4 Official Announcement. x.com/QIDI_3dprinter/status/1855902130210845156
Just as an update, Qidi has an entirely new chamber heater power supply board design which started shipping yesterday I believe. It uses many different components with a mostly changed layout. All of the people with electronics knowledge who have looked at it say it seems much more suitable. We will be testing it in the next few days to make sure it is a confirmed fix. Anyone who has the old board or buys a printer with it should request the updated part.
There are a lot of RUclips Reviewers that reviewed this printer already. But a 3D printer review is only accurate when Aurora Tech has done it. For 3D printers, I always wait until she has reviewed it! All the printers I own, were reviewed by her before I bought them, it never disappointed me because everything she tells is spot on, and you know what to expect for sure!

Woo! Was excited for your review of course. Just got my Plus4 and so far I am very impressed. I'm able to produce print in place bearings with only 0.05mm clearance between components and pull them straight off the plate with zero fusion. My Qidi Studio found my printer over the network no issue. I was using the 1.4 firmware update. Have had no major snags so far. Very impressed by the overall quality and features. It's the perfect machine for making automotive parts from higher end filaments as I plan to do. Hard to beat for $799!
@@willofthemaker I believe I replied to this, but my comment disappeared. I still absolutely love it and other than the chamber heater power supply issue which is hopefully being permanently solved now it has been great.
@@802Garage me too. Thanks for getting back nonetheless. I did buy it shortly after that. Mine came with a faulty hotend which they replaced. Lost a week but at least it works. I've been really impressed with this machine, especially with ABS. They're flawless prints with barely any tinkering to settings. Huge step up from my bed slingers. I'm going to give it probably a few more days to contact them for the new SSR board to make sure it's the latest and greatest. I'm manually controlling the chamber for now. @4:19 IMO it's best to get the bed as level as possible, i.e. 'TRAM' so your parts don't skew. The real hum dinger is you don't necessarily want it to match the gantry's level of flat but the Z motion. As there is not guarantee the gantry itself is TRAM to the bed motion. That is so that it moves perfectly straight up while being perfectly horizontal. Think of the bed being perfectly 90 degrees flat of the motion rods both in the X and Y direction. With that said.. Don't think most anyone printing needs NASA level CNC precision on plastics that will shrink and warp anyway. It's fun tho! that's why most people 3D print lol Love the reviews! Amazing work guys 👍

This is really impressive. I value quality over speed, and this printer really seemed to deliver on the quality front. The benchies had some artifacts, but everything else was really very nice. I was surprised at how good the alpaca turned out. The lagging in the UI seems like maybe a physical memory thing? Needs more RAM? It looks like, with a few tweaks, it's close to being as good as the X1C, but with a bigger build volume, which I like. I've been wanting to get into 3D printing for a while now, but I don't want to have a room full of different printers. I just want one that'll do everything, reliably, with good quality, with no hassles, every single time. And I'd like it to have as big a build volume as possible, so I don't have to worry about limiting the size of my projects. The X1C has been at the top of my list for a while now, but I really wanted something in the 300-cubed range in build volume, which makes this Qidi very interesting. The detail you can get with SLA printing is astonishing, but I just don't have the capacity or will to deal with the mess, so FDM is the way forward for me. Thanks for doing these comprehensive reviews. It definitely makes choosing a printer easier.

Best review so far, thanks. As with other reviews however, you really should do at least one or two stress tests, go to the highest temps on nozzle and chamber to print PPS-CF like teased in the beginning... Missing the main selling point for some!
Fantastic review. I’m planning on getting a Bambu Lab X1C when I upgrade from my A1 Mini. Your reviews def do help to understand what other 3D printers are capable of. Thanks ☺️
Hey great review, I'm curious as to the scoring on your site for the QiDi Plus 4 vs the Bambu X1C. - X1C has an extra point on print quality. Is this due to the tolerance test? As you for the quality comparison you stated the QiDi was slightly better (than the P1, but I've heard the P1 and X1 is the same?) - X1C has an extra point on technology, but the QiDi seems to have more features/tech than the X1C, what was the reasoning? Or is it just that time is also a component of the scoring, and at the time the X1C came out it was significantly better on features/tech where the QiDi is just a small step up in a few areas?
This is such an impressive printer. I cant wait to get one. If all the cons are software based, then that's great news because they can easily be fixed in updates later on.
@@TheOneAndOnlySatan hey chill, im not what you think .... Also there's a male and female in this account . I send hearts, my wife send kisses cuz she's also a 3D printer's shop owner and she consider her like a daughter, ... So you are the one who shouldn't be creep .... Clean your mind , son .
looks to me like a very good printer, I have a Qidi X-Plus and have been more than happy with that. I retro fitted a cabinet heater to my Printer for ABS. I have bought many print heads for my printer preferring to change them with materials rather than changing nozzles. Speed has never been an issue for me preferring quality every time. I have also fabricated an enclosed from a cake tupperware box to prevent humidity upsetting my prints when there have been long print times. I presume this printer has LAN and Wifi Connectivity, and a USB port for a memory stick. The greater print area would be an improvement over my X-plus, but otherwise I stick with what I have. Great review as usual I appreciate the work you must put into these reviews.
Somewhat newb here, but what is meant by changing with materials vs changing the nozzles, what substitutes a 0.22= nozzle size for instance? for finer details
@@markm75 Changing materials. PLA, ABS, Nylon, TPU etc. When you go from a high temp material to a low one it can cause problems for the nozzle. Further some material (Nylon CF) require a toughened nozzle since a brass one would wear out. Finally nozzles come in different sizes 0.4mm, 0.6mm for example. For me changing nozzles is a bit of an ordeal so I change the whole print head when I change materials or need different nozzle sizes, I have now several different complete print heads with various nozzles. I doubt many people do what I do but I'm changing materials/ nozzle sizes all the time.
Yep, you're the best at reviews. Aurora, i want to capture the particulate matter when printing but plan to print tpu and others thst prefer an open chamber. How to do this? Is there a vent on the back of this printer to attach to an exhaust line? .
Thanks for the review. What about the printer profil? Are Qidi providing good , fast and error free profil for all the type of filament (and nozzle size) supported by this printer? Having a printer with proof working profil is key.
It is easy. Remove extruder front cover without screws. Then disconnect 2 screws from hotend and disconnect cables which are all on front of extruder as well.
It’s a smaller X-Max 3 with a new hotend and extruder. Most of the other hardware is lifted directly from the X-Max 3 with the upgraded EMMC, which you can already buy from Qidi for the Max-3. It is also now possible to upgrade the Max-3 hotend and extruder to a Rapido/Orbiter combo using 3D printed parts. I’m waiting for the new Max-4.
Single spool above the printer seems to be inline with structural filaments such as PPS-CF. These filaments can be quite brittle off the spool, so having the fewest bends to the printhead, the better. As an example, Bambu Labs does not recommend using their AMS while printing PPS-CF. I should imagine the same will apply with Qidi's multiple filament system as well. Since nany of these structural filaments require very dry filament (blasted dryers recommended up to 12 hrs), some sort of enclosed spool would be more ideal. Seems the heat chamber design has this drying method in mind by stacking spools inside the machine and set temp/fans to recommendations. Of course, the downside of this method is no printing possible while drying. My solution is having at least 2 dryers: 1 feeding the printer and 1 drying the next projects filament.
About to buy my first **New** CoreXY with the QiDi Plus4. (I usually buy used on Facebook Market then fix'em up). I asked QiDi about the firmware these ship with, and received a short but so sooo sweet answer ... "we ship with the latest, but you're going to have to update when you get your printer".... :) LOLZ!!! But Aurora is my goto review on the NuNu.... I call "Today". Like in the first battle in Braveheart ....Hold..... Hold......Hooold
Hi Aurora, Great review videos! I was wondering what you would choose between the QIDI Plus 4, the Sovol SV08, or a Neptune 4 Plus. I recently purchased my first 3D printer which was an AnkerMake M5C, but I feel I've already outgrown it; both in build size and quality. I am looking at these 3 printers because of the plate size and all the good reviews I have read/watched. Which would you choose? Any help is greatly appreciated.
The Plus 4 would be a safer choice. It’s fully enclosed, and you can print a broader range of materials compared to an open-frame printer. The build quality also the best among all 3.
Have you got maybe any info about K1 max updates? I'm really consider what I should to buy. K1 max or QIDI plus 4. The big plus for the K1 is the huge community behind the printer, so in case of problems, probably someone can help. I don't know how situation look with QIDI plus 4. As for the QIDI plus 4, you can find also a lot of information about overheating problems.
Anyone know what slicer you would use with this printer? It looks good and thank you Aurora Tech for being HONEST ! Its refreshing. Disregard.. I should have waited to the end. Thank you again.
I am trying to decide between a QiDi x-max 3, QiDi plus 4, and Bambu X1E. I have a lot of experience with a Stratasys FDM printer circa 2009-2011 but have been out of the scene for a while. I am looking to make strictly ABS functional parts for work so the heated chamber of the QiDi models is what drew me to them after being used to it on the Stratasys machine. I don't think I would want one without it. I am open to other suggestions. I am looking basically in the sub $2000 range for something with roughly this print volume that can make strong parts with good surface finish.
After testing, can you please disassemble the printers hotend and tell us what nozzle it uses? Alongside any recommended maintence tips from the manufacture?
It's that heavy stiff frame that addresses all the ringing. I'm thinking of adding some steel square tubing and diagonal bracing with printed clamps to mine and maybe improve it more.
Looking to upgrade from my ender 3. This seems like a good value for $760 shipped. I hope I don’t regret it. I was deciding between the p1s, potentially the k1. I didn’t realize the z axis only had 2 screws. Hope this isn’t an issue in the future with leveling
if you dont need the heated chamber (you only print pla, petg, tpu etc) please do yourself a favor and get the p1s. If you want to print a lot of engineering grade filaments (ABS,ASA,PA,PC,PPS-CF) you need to get the qidi due to heated chamber.
Always a great review, I was anticipating yours, especially because I am considering buying this QIDI Plus 4. Thank you 👍 Just had a quick question, did the enclosure improve the ABS vapours smell? Compared to others I mean.
Thanks for your review. Looks like a very good printer. Only worry I have is about the hotend. On their website you can see a replacement nozzle/hotend. It looks like it contains a piece of PTFE tube. Is that correct? That would be really strange with those high nozzle temperatures.
Hey Aurora Tech, How's the workflow of the QiDi compare with that of Bambu Lab. Your reviews show the QiDi's very favorably and as I'm starting to use more PC in my projects, this printer and the X-Max3 look like good bangs for the buck for a heated chamber printer compared to spending $2500 for the BL X1-E. but my concern is how they would integrate into the workflow I've established with Bambu Studio and the 3 BL printers I already use. The X1-C works pretty well with their BL's PC and Polymaker's PC, so I was thinking maybe getting a P1-S as an added PC printer while waiting for Bambu Lab's next big thing.
The X1-E seems a bit overpriced. Qidi printers with a heated chamber are better for ABS/ASA printing. However, if you primarily print PC, the heated chamber won’t make a significant difference, and the fine details on Bambulab machines are better.
I really wish the tolerance test was corrected for the warping. That had to have affected the tolerance level. If possible I’d like to see this have a successful print and see the actual tolerance from a properly tuned print for this machine. I’m on the fence from this and the Bambi lab P1S for this price range but that really put me off not knowing the full performance stack up to the P1S that passed tolerances from a clean non warped print
i think another important question is if you want to be able to print high temp engineering filaments. With this printer having a max nozzle temp of 370, and max chamber temp of 65c, you can print so many materials on here you can’t print, atleast well, on any of bambulab’s machines, even the x1e that isn’t even sold to consumers. I think that the tolerancing issue is totally solvable with a little bit of tinkering (running the linear advance test in orca slicer) and further firmware updates. TLDR: I don’t think one tolerance test should be the determining factor since that is likely easily improbable, you should look into what other needs are met by either printer that can’t be met by the other one.
I am totally new to 3D printing and I am trying to decide on which printer to get. I have looked at the QiDi Plus4 and the reviews seem very good but filament of them seem very expensive. Can I use any, do you have any brands that you can recommend ?.
Seems like a good printer, and a multimaterial system would be great, but I'm always skeptical about anything Qidi says is coming until it actually arrives- still waiting on the spaghetti detection they said was 'coming soon' to the X Max 3 at launch and disappeared from their site a few months ago. 😂
WARNING! Fire Hazard! SSR melting after chamber heating! They are failing a recall and just taking a case by case basis!!!

Hey great review, I'm curious as to the scoring on your site for the QiDi Plus 4 vs the Bambu X1C.
- X1C has an extra point on print quality. Is this due to the tolerance test? As you for the quality comparison you stated the QiDi was slightly better (than the P1, but I've heard the P1 and X1 is the same?)
- X1C has an extra point on technology, but the QiDi seems to have more features/tech than the X1C, what was the reasoning?
Or is it just that time is also a component of the scoring, and at the time the X1C came out it was significantly better on features/tech where the QiDi is just a small step up in a few areas?
love your channel, my husband and I are your biggest fans! keep it up! :)
Aurora Tech is my go to review. Excellent job as usual
You have to be the best reviewer of 3d printers!
was waiting for this review since they announced this printer.
This is such an impressive printer. I cant wait to get one. If all the cons are software based, then that's great news because they can easily be fixed in updates later on.
Another great review. Glad you kids are still knocking it out of the park.
I was waiting you to review it and finally you did ❤❤❤❤❤❤😍😍😍😍😍😘😘😘
Dont be a creep
@@TheOneAndOnlySatan hey chill, im not what you think .... Also there's a male and female in this account . I send hearts, my wife send kisses cuz she's also a 3D printer's shop owner and she consider her like a daughter, ... So you are the one who shouldn't be creep .... Clean your mind , son .
@TheOneAndOnlySatan simp
I become my Qidi today and i had no network problems to find the printer.
Which machine is better, X1C or this machine ?
Thank you!
Anyway, I'm undecided whether to buy this printer or the Bambulab X1C 😐
What a great review! Extremely thorough and informative.
looks to me like a very good printer, I have a Qidi X-Plus and have been more than happy with that.
Thank you! Trying to decide what printer will be the best buy for my needs. Excellent review.
Yep, you're the best at reviews. Aurora, i want to capture the particulate matter when printing but plan to print tpu and others thst prefer an open chamber. How to do this? Is there a vent on the back of this printer to attach to an exhaust line? .
Hi Aurora, great video, just bought this printer on your recommendation. Could you update the tolerance test file with the latest model please x
Upgrading from ender ke next month. Should I go with infemech tx or qidi q1 pro
Thanks for the review. What about the printer profil? Are Qidi providing good , fast and error free profil for all the type of filament (and nozzle size) supported by this printer? Having a printer with proof working profil is key.
Thank you for the info about the RAM and EMMC size!
“Your” music is back, yay! Whenever I hear it on another channel I always think “nah, you ain’t Aurora Tech, go find other music you pretender!” 😅
Hi Aurora and Helios. Great review as always. Quick question: Did you test how easy/difficult is it to change/replace the nozzle/hot end on the PLUS4?
It is easy. Remove extruder front cover without screws. Then disconnect 2 screws from hotend and disconnect cables which are all on front of extruder as well.
Did you test the chamber heater?
I will probably buy a next generation printer in mid or late 2025 when all of the promised AMS options materialise.
it kinda reminds me of a Cyber Truck the way it looks. I like the specs, this might be the one I finally upgrade our Qidi X-CF Pro to.
Great review (as always)!
Thank you for the review. Yours is the one I was waiting for.
Is there a slick build plate for this printer? I don't like the textured bottom on my prints.
@@AuroraTech thank you!
@@PlaydohRUclips Buy a bambu!
@@Co4l I know they are fantastic printers, but their build size is too small.
Great review again, thanks!
Another Great review, to the bone
Thanks for sharing your great videos, both of you 🙂
Awesome Review! Hope you test one of the new FLSUN soon ! :)
The review we were waiting for
Note: as of firmware 1.4 they updated the printer to be a fully functional filament dryer with a custom count down timer.
Anyone know what slicer you would use with this printer? It looks good and thank you Aurora Tech for being HONEST ! Its refreshing. Disregard.. I should have waited to the end. Thank you again.
I just use their QiDI Studio slicer.
Great review. Awnsed all my questions
I was very happy when i saw this video.
Looking to upgrade from my ender 3. This seems like a good value for $760 shipped. I hope I don’t regret it. I was deciding between the p1s, potentially the k1. I didn’t realize the z axis only had 2 screws. Hope this isn’t an issue in the future with leveling
Would you recommend this over a p1s? I am planning to purchase it soon with an ams. But the Qidi plus 4 does seem tempting.
if you dont need the heated chamber (you only print pla, petg, tpu etc) please do yourself a favor and get the p1s. If you want to print a lot of engineering grade filaments (ABS,ASA,PA,PC,PPS-CF) you need to get the qidi due to heated chamber.
Wird es einen Max 4 geben?
Will there be a Max 4 ?
Thank you for the great review!
How well does it handle resuming a print (power loss, filament breaking due to tangling, replacing a new roll)?
Always a great review, I was anticipating yours, especially because I am considering buying this QIDI Plus 4. Thank you 👍
Just had a quick question, did the enclosure improve the ABS vapours smell? Compared to others I mean.
It has a pack of carbon inside filter box of the exhaust fan, I didn't smell anything at all when printing Eryone ABS.
@@AuroraTech thank you.
Does it offer the ability to change nozzles, if so how hard is it? 0.2mm 0.6mm? 0.4mm default?
Thanks for your review. Looks like a very good printer. Only worry I have is about the hotend. On their website you can see a replacement nozzle/hotend. It looks like it contains a piece of PTFE tube. Is that correct? That would be really strange with those high nozzle temperatures.
its ceramic.
Thanks that clarifies it
Excellent review
Hey Aurora Tech,
How's the workflow of the QiDi compare with that of Bambu Lab.
@@AuroraTech Thank you!
And a question - Aurora, have you used glue for any of the filaments?
I always use glue for ABS, PA-CF and PC.
You can use any filament brand. I use VOXEL PLA PETG, Eryone, and Prusa filaments. The links are available in the video description.
Is the nozzle of the machine used for the review a Tungsten Carbide Bimetal Nozzle?
Seems like a good printer, and a multimaterial system would be great, but I'm always skeptical about anything Qidi says is coming until it actually arrives- still waiting on the spaghetti detection they said was 'coming soon' to the X Max 3 at launch and disappeared from their site a few months ago. 😂
