Will the brightbug still be active if you get invaded?
@@davidrw67 Yes!
I just wish they remake this game...
@@hffy8665 how can you remake perfection?
@@roro_fosho OMG best comment i've ever seen in ages. RESPECT
UPDATE ON THE BRIGHTBUG GLITCH: It will work whenever your character is wet, that is all. You can get wet by rain, puddles, lakes, those water jars on Iron Keep, equipping Pharros Mask, etcetera.
1. Get wet
2. Use the Brightbug
3. Quit game
4. Load your game file and done
It will only disappear when you go into a loading screen (warp, die, etc).
Everyone like this comment right now
Does this glitch also work on the different dark souls 2 version? The one that has different item/enemies location, I'm playing the one on ps3
@@tchem Idk but yeah, will work probably
Dose it work with that mask that makes you wet
@@joshuabates1355 YOO!!! YOU JUST FOUND THE HOLY GRAIL. Yup, just tested it with the Pharros Mask. So yeah, you can have infinite brightbug duration anywhere as long as you equip that mask on the "get wet" step!
Dark Souls II in 2021? Yes please.
Gonna make another 39k run.
Why?

What does “39k run” mean, I don’t usually look into any kind of guide when playing
Had a shitty day and then Phobia uploaded.
Day's still shitty but at least I can tune it out.
Making these videos does the same thing for me. These games are relatively unimportant in the full scope of life, sure, but they serve as an invaluable reminder of our ability to overcome hardship. Don't allow yourself to forget what you are capable of.
👍
@@PhobiaSoft "Don't give up, skeleton!"
I am a regular viewer of Dist2 and Ymfah, so I already knew a lot of these. But it seems so cool to have more in depth explanations of them instead of the split second executions. It's amazing to believe that a lot of these are all used in speedruns, usually needing to be executed quickly one after the other.
I’ve got another one that ymfah made a video on a while back. Fume knights sword glows slightly for about 25 seconds before he goes to second phase. By using any healing item when he’s in this state, he will do a sword slam attack on you. The slam will stop the sword from glowing, and you can fight for another minute or so before it glows again. You can just repeat this every time his sword starts glowing to skip his second phase all together.
I must be the only person in the world that thinks phase 2 is easier. I always wear Velstadt's helmet through the fog door because Fume Knight starts the battle in the second phase and skips the first.
I've waited for the return of the series welcome back king
No quema cuh
finally ! Someone who pronounces "Huntsmans Copse" correctly
How to other people say it? I just pronounced it exactly as it's spelled.
@@StrappingYoungLadam ppl say "corpse"
I pronounced it as "copes" for the longest time
Now we just need to find someone who can pronounce “Smough” correctly
Stupid people say huntsmase cospe
Before making the Pursuer fast kill glitch, you need to make sure you have enough stamina to do the run from the ladder to the bonfire. If you walk even for half a second you'll miss the oportunity because the Pursuer will leave very shortly after being dropped by the bird thing.
Wish this had been included in the video. I was wondering what I did wrong...
My favorite glitch I recently discovered: if you spam, and I mean spam as fast as you can, block while running or walking, your legs will flail around all over the place
If you use a rusted coin the bright bug buff goes away. Fyi
Thanks for the infinite brightbug glitch! I’m doing a “thicc” build (max over-encumberance ar all times) and so certain boss fights are very difficult because I have no choice but to tank them. This helps out tremendously!
Off topic, I'm glad I'm not the only one who uses the shadow mask. I feel like nobody uses it.
I got you Dr.
Best set
I'm a huge fan of the shadow mask with the imperious set
Shadow gauntlets and leggings with eastern chestplate for samurai armor
Like the Shadow set, the leggings are humourous, I question the validity of individual toe claw armor in a stealth style armor application though, lol.
Its cool, its just quite a rare drop from those flippy knights, & not alot of people either get it naturally, or bother to grind for them, definetly an awesome set though
Subscribed when your Dark Souls 1 glitches came out when I just beat DS1 and then now I’m almost done with Dark Souls 2 and this one comes out. Perfect timing. Thank you, great work. Looking forward to the 3rd!
I love this game so much. I discovered it years ago before the rest of the Soulsborne series, and it played a huge part in keeping me sane while kicking an ugly habit. I just can't believe that years later I'm still discovering new things about it, along with the rest of the Soulsborne series 🖤
What's to love about it? I can think of plenty to hate about it lol
Dark Souls is turning me into an alcoholic.
Was a bit heart warming to read that. Hope the habits long gone now :)
Same, this game got my into the dark souls series and now I have played all of them except for the recent demon's souls remake.
@@JohnDoe-pu5gk what’s to hate
Attunment Swap Glitch: Allows you to transfer the uses of one spell to another until unattuned, persists through deaths, loading screens, and bonfire sits
- PC only
- Equip the spell you want the spells on, preferably unequip all other spells inittially
- Open the bonfire and open the travel menu, select a bonfire, majula works fine
- As you start to travel, use your mouse to left click, right click, and then select a small pop up menu that says 'back'
- immediately head over to the attune spells menu
- wait for the travel menu to get darker and darker, right before you travel the screen will flash again with color.
- during this short window, left click on the spell you want to take the uses away from, such as a basic soul arrow
- do it to early and you'll just have the basic spell equipped, do it too late and you'll have the original spell equipped with no changes
- Just right you'll have the intended spell with a transferred amount of uses.
When you finally get the timing down, it's super consistent and you should get it AT MOST two tries.
few things
- lost on save & exit, lost if spell order changes
- preference is fine but unequipping other spells is by no means required
*- the window is much bigger than you think, during the load screen, while you still have your cursor you can do the glitch. (around 2-3 seconds)*
- since the game thinks you have soul arrow equipped, attuning more slots to soul arrow increases uses of the glitched spell
- ^ this also means that the glitched spell will only consume 1 slot (if soul arrow or other) so you can attune more powerful spells even with relatively few slots.
- cannot be used on spells you can't cast (consider the spices)
I love your glitch deep dives, always find something no other souls youtuber has covered.
He covers many New but ive many of these from the meme guide man ymfah
Hell yeah!! I love your narration skills and extremely detailed videos, Phobia!
Been a while since I've heard windmills. Good video man, made me start replaying this game.
Pharro's Mask makes you wet, I assume it works with the Brightbug glitch then
I had no idea about the butterfly stationary jump thing or the bright bug glitch and I can't wait to try them out. Also love your song choice windmills are awesome.
And here I was, thinking I knew "everything" about this game.... The pursuer quick kill got me
Love windmills, was so happy when that came on. Great video man!
A DS2 video posted in 2021? This must be a dream. If so, I don't wanna wake up.
You've got a real soothing, pleasing voice. Good video, man.
I think the infinite bright bug works anywhere when your character is wet
Can you confirm that's the case? That's actually not a bad theory.
@@PhobiaSoft peachymike did a video about it and I'm pretty sure reddit confirmed it
@@CeeTeeOfficially The only exception I can immediately think of is the first one in the Grave of Saints, but that one also requires you to have an NPC invader in your game, and the bonfire to be unlit, so there's a lot of other obscure stuff going on in that situation. Nice find!
@@PhobiaSoft yea that ones a bit weird and thought should just drop the comment because I literally just saw the video right before yours
Amazing! I was waiting for this!! Thanks
I like the fact that he constantly cosplays as a plague doctor
I can never get the firebomb clip to work. No matter where I stand and how I angle the camera it never works for me.
It helps to be pushing yourself forward when you throw it and in the corner somewhat. It’s not too bad then. Next to do the pursuer trick just make sure your character is naked so you can run and jump quicker. I did it in 3 tries the other day. Using the cloud to save and retry.
Man that was a great video
I also have noticed that you forgot the spell cast swap glitch
Sit at a bonfire equip a spell you wanna cast more of with a spell with more casts (recommend soul arrow), next warp to a bonfire and while the animation plays left click with mouse then right click press back to spells and go to the spell you want the cast from wait till the screen is black and click on the spell it's pretty tight to time but if it goes well you have a diffrent amount of cast now you can have like 30 soul spears it goes back to normal if you quit out or the spell moves or gets swapped great for spell casters
Edit: it sadly only works on PC so sorry Console players you gotta stick to herbs to refill your cast
That one was actually in the script originally, but I decided to drop it since it was PC exclusive. You are super right, and it still works!
Also have a theory on why that happens but I'm not sure about it being true at all
Because you swap the spell at pretty much last frame the game didn't had time to swap the full spell but only the amount of use so you load in with the amount the spell that the game attempts to switch i thought of that because if you go spells after the glitch you see the spell that has been used for the glitch (aka if you spell swapped the spell you see soul spear at the Gameplay hud and see soul arrow at the bonfire spell menu)
@@icebrorottenmushroom1817 basically animation stalling for homeward bone duping in ds1
@@ColdSword816P pretty much yea
Man I have 70 Crystal Soul Arrows, thank you
Awesome video. Great explanations and very useful and/or fun tricks!
I’m a big DS2 fan but somehow I didn’t know most of these. Great video!
I have waited sooooo long, nice job!
I literally dropped what i was doing I've been waiting for this for so long
Ds2 is my favorite in the series and I will die on this hill
Me too bud
First souls game and favorite
fact
Same here. It was my first full Souls game (I tried Dark Souls 1 a bit before but couldn't get the hang of it for some reason). I don't care if some stuff is unpolished. It has the best mechanics imo, the most unique places, and the best build opportunities (even though Dark Souls 3 has some cool mechanics I wish DaS2 had).
@@Knight_Of_Eleum_Loyce same here was the first one I beat and have been playing it since release (even to today, when I just finished another character lol)
3:37 instead of backstepping, use the butterfly wings to jump (without sprinting). It's way easier and way more consistent. As long as you know the jump distance you'll get up there 10/10 times.
I have over 200 hours in this game and I did not know you could unlock a shortcut to the bonfire in the beginning lol
Ruining your game and killing the Herald for a video. Mad respect.
You can always use an Aesthetic..... I think...
@@BB_Promoter NPC's are weird in this game. Sometimes you'll get a gravestone if they die, but when that doesn't happen they're gone for the entire playthrough.
Most of the time you'll get a gravestone though. So you can just use extra souls, summon their spirits, and talk to them and do whatever.
@@CosmeticFear Late reply but the NPC gravestone appears based on an in-game timer - usually after 2,5, 4 or 5 hours - and some NPCs have exceptions with the gravestone's location. For example if you kill Emerald Herald in Drangleic Castle, her gravestone will appear after 5 hours of gameplay in Majula.
Killing NPCs also stops their questlines, removes summon signs and locks the inventory of merchant NPCs based on their last location (e.g. if you kill the Stone Trader in Harvest Valley, she obviously won't move to Majula and her ghost's inventory will be stuck at what she had on offer in Harvest Valley). You can't respawn NPCs using an Ascetic, they can only be summoned at a gravestone for a fee or restored by going into the next New Game+ cycle.
Thanks for the info, I never knew about the pursuer glitch ^^
broooooo, windmills is too underrated, they're amazing. They rly need some more recognition
There's something about ds2 that keeps me coming back. Much more than 1 and 3.
Best fashion souls and best pvp

It’s so under appreciated. It’s the best one imo
For me it’s the fact that I fucking squeezed the crap out of the replayablility with the first 2 so i alternate between Elden Ring and this

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one in the world that didn't play SotFS, just vanilla DS2
I have never managed either of the jump skips in the Forest, and I've tried plenty of times to get the twinkling titanite on the far side. The lower platform jump looks easy when you do it but I always land WELL short of the ledge. I've also yet to get the firebomb trick to work, but that's less of an issue since it is not a long run to get to the far side of that wall.
New DS2 Scholar content?? Don't mind if I do!! Thanks Phobe this is terrific- some totally new info for me
Thanks, ds2 is by far my favorite of the series.
I just finished playing ds2 and this vid showed up on my recommended list. RUclips nowadays doing pretty good job.
I just finished DS2 a week or 2 ago as well!
What are the odds that you upload a glitch video on this game the same week I start playing it for the first time? Crazy, man

Was waiting on this one 🔥🔥
Parry walk is a glitch in ds2 where if you have the butterfly skirt equipped and parry an enemy at a certain angle , it allows you to stay at the Y level you parried at and allows you to float in the air, like TOD glitch in da3
tumble buff, spell casting swap and stance swaps are still possible to do
They are?
@@AmadisLFE Yes but spellswap is PC exclusive and tumble buff is quite literally frame perfect tech
@@theta_clips I remember the days of the PS3 version, where tumblebuffing was hard, but once you got the timing down it wasn't that bad.
On this version, you have to be completely frame perfect, and running at 60fps doesn't make it any easier.
But quick question, can someone explain to me what Stance Swapping is? Does that just involve using a different powerstance animation than what's supposed to be used?
I'm not sure if it's a glitch or not, but you can get into the pit area under the bonfire next to where you see the pursuer first. There's a spot that you can run and jump and do a dropping power attack and survive the fall by critically attacking the fire-lizard in the far corner. The cave down there leads you to where the fire-lizard is spitting fireballs at you when trying to get the fire longsword. This can be done even on the base game though it's aggravating trying to get the items down there before dying. There's a total of four fire lizards, I believe, but there are locations you can hide from their attacks to hit them with ranged attacks. I believe it leads to the door on the left when you fight the giant, but I believe it is locked from the other side.
It was probably intended since there is no other place were you can plunge a fire lizard. Also with enough health it's easier to drop on top of the debris at the left on the pit.
Nice video, gonna try the FotFG and Brume Tower skips.
I've never been able to do the Pursuer glitch. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I never seem to be fast enough to get back to the bonfire. Even when I'm naked
You can also get back to the bonfire *too fast* for it to work. The timing is really obnoxious tbh
malentia restocks her bight bugs every time you get a great soul, however the restock will replace what's left of her current stock, so you can potentially get twelve or fifteen bright bugs from her if you keep buying them before each great soul.
amazing stuff, man, I have more than 500 hours in this game and I still learned a lot of things here
I remember the first time i played DS2 and i also unlocked the shortcut in the church, but for some reason with a spear thrust? - I couldnt recreate it since back then but it felt so good.
I have done this platinum twice and never knew about a lot of this!

nice to see a bit of content on DS2.
decided to go do some pvp tonight and I was surprised how often i was getting fights in the blood arena at 120 mill SM. people still play!
Arena isn't separated by SM to be fair.
Even so, I find PvP in low memory brackets and in 2-3 mil / 3-5 mil bracket pretty easily still.
while i know blue arena wasn't SM based (still feel bad for some of the lvl
Shout out to YT to recommending this video to when I’ve just started my first blind thru all three DS games! 🙏🏽
Really neat glitches. I might use that Brightbug one on a later playthrough 😅
Wow how tight is the timing on that pursuer quick kill? I've been trying it but it doesn't seem to go through
Edit: It's pretty tight. If you're a relatively low stamina class (like cleric) you'll probably need to try a few times to make it)
Windmills is ridiculously underrated
I didn’t know about the forest of fallen giants shortcut but I guess that’s the beauty of dark souls there’s always something new to learn
A fun thing about DS2 is that it's the only game in the series that has no instakill limit on fall distance, so you can theoretically survive any fall as long as it isn't the usual instakill from falling into a pit.
you can also count 7 steps from the dragonrider! but you have to cut a close angle next to the edge to make it work. that's how I usually do it
Technically its 6.5 steps
Dark soul's 2 was so different compared to the rest of the soul's series, the scenery is very beautiful and the music is very majestic and soothing 😇
None of these glitches seem to be working now. Can you is it/ was it working for you?
@@amakky1989 there hasn't been *any* patch since this video came out so it def works
Great video, subbed 👍
I would love a second part, very good video
Ds2 is a truly a special game that super underrated and under appreciated,
B-Team did an absolutely phenomenal job with innovation and their own nonsense to feel different from ds1 and ds3
Especially with the dlcs. For me the dlcs are one of the highlights of the souls series.
4 months later, but literally. B-Team literally made the game feel newer, better animations, better atmosphere and locations. But it's cool to hate on ds2 and call the devs lazy, I guess...
Meanhwile,ds3 is literally just a "remake" of ds1 with a reimagined story and areas. Exactly same animations as ds1 even.🙄
(Ringed City is an excellent dlc though)
@@graviticsoul4248 I agree with you alot, Ds2 was so innovative with the goofy shit and just pure exotic adventure of Ds2. Ds2 was so vibrant and stunning.
From The Gorgeous DLC areas, From Dragon Aerie and Dragon Shrine,
Earthen peak to Iron Keep
While Ds2 had alot of gamk bosses, It excelled the absolute best at its area design, enemy placements are beyond clever af aswell (Ds3 they literally make their enemy placements WAY TOO OBVIOUS)
It’s very true that some people Hate Ds2 because it’s funny to hate it,
Every souls game is good, Just that Ds2 to me personally stands out somuch because it genuinely makes Dark Souls feel fantasy with all the unique different vibrant areas
@@Xportbob Indeed! They're all fantastic, I was just pointing out the hypocrisy of people that call ds2 lazy, when ds3 doesn't have that many "new" things either.

For the firebomb glitch you can also use the force miracle
This is really cool! I love all of your glitches videos, especially of the souls series. But, is the dragonrider falling off the platform really considered a glitch? It's so easy it almost seems like an intended way of beating him.
Pretty sure it isn't what From had in mind when they designed him, no lol

200hrs of game and I never discovered the bombfire shortcut.
I like all Dark Souls games but the second one is my favorite by far. Best PvP, more weapons, more spells, more consumable items, most replay value, etc etc.
Still holds true DS2 actually takes skill not L2 button like in ER now lol
Very informative, didn’t know any of these, and just ended a run like a week ago.
Awesome content man!
Weirdly enough I like dark souls 2 more than 3 by a long shot. Still like the first the most but really love the atmosphere and weird whimsical vibe of ds2 and the world. It’s the one I’ve prob played the most over all
Dark souls 2 seems to have been rehabilitated with the fans. 4/5 years ago this game was the black sheep, everyone seemed to hate it. Now, lots people say how good it is. Weird how that works. Just took a while to grow on people, i suppose.
@@signoguns8501 I actually liked it right away it felt like a middle man between demons and dark souls 1 and felt right at home and love the music / world and different high fantasy feel. I never gave a shit and still don’t care what others think I like what I like and I love ds2
@@TheVioletBunny Glad to hear it. Not accusing you of changing your opinion. DS2 has always had a solid fan base, just public opinion has shifted considerably in a pretty short time frame. Also noticed that DS2 was removed from PSnow recently which probably means theyre are planning a remaster. After a bumpy start, looks like DS2 is finally getting the respect it deserves
Dark Souls 3 is a good game, but it has absolutely no replay value because it only has one viable playstyle: Roll and R1 with fast weapon. Heavy Armor, heavy weapons, bows, miracles, magic - all of that is terrible.
It's also a very frustrating game, because the rules of the enemies aren't your rules. The player can't have poise and the player can accidentally hit walls. Enemies however have poise and their attacks go straight through walls.
I'm also not a fan of the often-praised level design; While it is more logical than Dark Souls 2's, there are too many bonfires and Fromsoft gave up trying to make good, satisfying shortcuts. The one thing I give Dark Souls 3 credit for, are the bosses. DS3 has the overall best bosses from all three games.
@@TheTexasDice I don’t think it’s a bad game I just don’t think it’s a good dark souls game I think they should have just kept this as a bloodborne 2 and created game that felt more like a dark souls game it’s the only one in the trilogy and series counting demons souls that has this style of combat and artistic style I don’t consider bloodborne a souls game I see it as another fromsoft title like sekiro which just uses some of their signature style on top of. It felt like bloodborne not ds and my issue is and main one it’s just not a souls game to me dark souls finale was the ending of ds2
DS2 is my favorite of the three 🥺
I agree!
Great video man, are you gonna do one on dark souls 3?
