Just thought I'd add my two cents as an owner of one of these. I have not tried connecting Android Auto or Carplay wired, but wirelessly it has been totally instant and seemless. It rides much better in Engage than Unbridled due to the magnetic shocks being tied to the drive mode, with that I usually use Engage on the freeway and Unbridled everywhere else. Kia EV 6 GT sound great, but, 206 miles EPA just won't cut it when my commute is nearly 180 miles and I don't want to charge to 100%. Plus EV 6 and other Kia/Hyundai/Genesis products don't offer wireless phone mirroring. Mach E may not be perfect, but it's pretty good, and you can get it more easily at MSRP than many others.
Point of clarification, wired or wireless, I experienced the same problem. The same phone and cord in the Prius, a couple of BMWs, a Jeep, my own Lexus as well as a couple of other cars had zero issues.
Thanks for reviewing the Mach-e MM! I really like the new format as well, but I definitely look forward to the options game. You run down all the options that are on each trim level as well as giving us insight on whether or not it’s worth spending our hard earned money on said options. Keep up the great work, I look forward to possibly seeing some brands that you don’t normally feature. I think it could help your audience expand and reach more views and hopefully subscribers. Your content is too good to not have over double the subscribers that you do.
The sales aren’t bad at all, 40,000 units for 2022, though the Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 are in their first year whereas this is the second for the Ford. Hyundai and Kia combined have sold slightly more of their duo this year. The BMW X3 is the king of the segment and it sold 65,000 units so these sales are fairly strong for the upstart electric cars.
Just want to say I think your reviews are extremely well presented, and I've never got the feeling you were ever a "corporate shill" (which has caused me to unsubscribe to several other YT reviewers). Well done! All the best in 2023!
Greatly appreciate the solid feedback, Trevor. Happy New Year!
cough cough savagegeese
The "UX" has changed where the volume knob controls all HVAC functions, temp, heated seat level, AUTO level settings and on/off. The whole screen has also changed to make things easier. It also has 60 more miles of range than the EV-6 Sport, 260/270 vs. 206.
I have also heard that recent price cuts have occurred.
The build quality issues have not been pointed out by other reviewers in any other video and I have not experienced any.
Only the VPN on my phone has caused connection issues. Turn it off and the car connects within seconds. A wired connection bypasses the VPN.
The smoothest ride is in Whisper mode. Engage is also good except on heavily potholed roads.
Recent updates have added 2-3 games and You Tube.
Main battery: another video pointed to a Ford site that had the battery prices: $5200-5700 and they will get cheaper with time especially if they can adapt their future sodium based batteries to the older models (50% less and almost 2X the range).
Misc.: I have outdone M5's, Audi's and MB's on my commuting route to the point that, on site, many back off from me now. Yeah, I know the top speed is only 124 MPH but the future Shelby version was stated as already faster than the GT Performance and they have not finished developing it yet.
Only thing I'm feeling like I miss with the new format is the options game.
Engage is the best daily driving mode. Unbridled is fun to scare people 😂. The performance seats are some of the most comfortable I’ve had. Ive also had both AMG and M cars. Love this performance cars front seats
Nice car something for everyone.
Hopefully a long warranty.
I have the GT model cyber orange i have no regrets i love this car i also love my mustamg ecoboost and my corvette c8
Thanks for your review, am looking at ordering a '23 premium Mach E extended range at the new lower price point of $56k. Does this make sense versus the competition?
Informative review, as always and the pros and cons the car, nicely covered e.g. the over-reliance on the touchscreen and mediocre build quality/materials etc. The only surprise, for me, was how well you found the ride quality of the Mach-e! Every other review of the car, that I've come across, found the ride to be poor! So, I wonder if Ford have been quietly working to improve the car's ride.
The GT can be harsh, the non GT models do ride better.
When you mentioned ride quality and the pavement was upsetting the smooth ride I was thinking this seemed contradictory. With driver an over 5,000 lb vehicle is far from being a track car which I would argue that this should be the performance of the trim below. 🤔
Very informative as always. Gee, these things are getting expensive…..
At that price, the interior and ux should be better.
I don't feel the performance GT is worth it. It has the same hp, 34 more torque, and 0.3 seconds quicker to 60. To me, that's not worth the extra $6k. Oh, and it drops the stated range by 10 miles. Just get the regular GT, the performance version is pointless.
The Magnaride suspension was worth it: owner.
Just wipe the screen off
Fast forward and the EV6 are catching fire… 😂 Never ever buy Kia or Hyundai.
So basically what you're saying Motoman, is that despite it being a cool EV, it's still a Ford. 🤭
More than that. I was able to look past my aversion to Fords and see the many positive aspects of this EV. In fact, I can absolutely see why this sells at the volumes that it does. Rather, the pricing is what is off putting.
@@MotoManTV I hear ya. Matt Maran has one and he loves the thing.😏
I just watched MotorWeek review a Q5 sport EV. Meh. 🤭
For me, Tesla Y or MB EV for this kinda money. 👍
I'd rather have the new Prius.
I can't believe I am about to type this, but so would I.
I enjoy you reviewing this and other EVs coming to market. I think this review made me appreciate my GV60 that much more. As far as the format goes, only thing I miss is the options game - one of my favorite parts.
Thanks for the feedback, Jeff!
Its an Escape, with a couple Mustang styling cues, so it will sell better :). And hey, kudos to Ford, its a pretty great car, all things considered, but still… NOT a Mustang …
That car has the old software in it -- the new software is much better. I'd bet it's got a mile long list of updates it needs. Ford needs to work on their OTA updates real bad. They've admitted they have 20% more software engineers than their competitors and they still suck at it. Most of us have the means to self-update all of the cars ourselves.
I’ve been very curious yet skeptical about the Ford Mustang electric. Thanks so much for confirming that MM!!
My pleasure!
Way better than Hyundai and Tesla
Just test drove the Mache E GTPE and was very impressed with the combination of comfort and performance. It strikes an excellent balance. Has some of the most comfortable sports seats and mag ride provides very smooth ride.
Ford is a mess right now with, by their own CEO's admission, a horrible quality control problem that he's saying may take 5-years to fix. I've owned a plethora of Ford stuff in my life, including a '15 F-150 Lariat purchased brand new, a Taurus, an F-350 PSD, an Escape, & a chassis cab product. Even if this was much less than a BMW or the KIA even I wouldn't touch it. The fact that it's more than much of everyone else's offerings makes anyone buying one of these suspect in their judgement.
The Mustang Mach-E is a mediocre EV but one with an attractive exterior and decent interior, especially at the Premium + GT trim levels. The price has crept up significantly since the 2021 model year and now the car is unjustifiably expensive compared to a similarly spec'd Tesla Model Y.
For 70k I’ll take the EV6 GT or GV60.
The Mustang Mach-E GT's single biggest problem is the price, it's not worth $76K fully equipped given that the resale value is determined by the ability to keep the EV running past 5-years. If Ford, or any EV manufacturer cannot show and prove that people purchasing cars in the secondary market will be able to be serviced outside of the original manufacturer, including replacing the EV's main battery well into the future for a reasonable price, then the purchase price to market value is buster.
I mean, it literally is a Mustang.
In name only.
I truly don't understand how he only dislikes the screen because of the fingerprints when you can get a screen protector that will not give you fingerprints on the screen. That's why Android is a better phone than Apple. lol
Not a Mustang...it's E garbage.
