It's taken me way too long to make this video. You guys have been asking me for me to do this song for years -- well, here it is -- my acoustic cover of "Little Wing" by Jimi Hendrix. One of Jimi's most gorgeous songs but painfully short in the original. I love that Stevie Ray Vaughan made the ultimate extended version drawn out to just the right length. His cover is pure perfection. I decided to keep mine short and sweet, the way I think Jimi would have played it on an acoustic. I hope you enjoy this take.
Originally released on the Axis: Bold As Love album in 1967 by the Jimi Hendrix Experience.

You can def. hear that he is blending the SRV version with Hendrix's original here - I do find this more interesting than SRVs version, even though SRVs playing is insane in some parts. It does get a bit long after about 4 choruses (SRV that is) :)@@nikhillrao3799

I would argue that all music is mixed. Technically even the choice of location, instrument and microphone is mixing since they all affect the sound in different ways. For example, the body/material of an acoustic guitar or recording outdoors vs in a church.
In no way is that related to the quality of the performance. Mixing is, at its base, just a tool to enhance listener experience mainly by making the layers of the song easier to distinguish.
As a disclaimer, I just read "mixed to death" and went on a rant. No offense meant. I agree with the general essence of your statement :)

SRV had the best cover of this song until I saw this one...wow absolutely amazing.
Let me flatout say I nearly skipped this on RUclips music but that first note did it for me. This is about as perfect as it gets. Now to sing on top is wild and the voice is a hot samurai blade through butter. I love Jimi. I love SRV. I love you Corey lol. Top 3 version in that order.
Best rendition of Little Wing on YT / Ultra complex song with numerous nuances that this gentleman has his own unique crayon; coloring every phrase , every strum , every beat . This gentleman is on point with the above excellent vocals/ incredible talent/ beautiful easy listening
You might want to watch Justin Johnson play this song on a 12 string before you call this the best version on RUclips... great for the 👍🏻 however, probably not the truth. Check it and see for yourself. ✌🏻❤️🎶
For me, Little Wing was always about percussive guitar chops(the right timing and drum like phrasing)…making the song tell a story. Dude your take here us spot on for me. Excellent effort.

I can play this song also , but I couldn’t imagine being able to sing it and play it as well as Corey , he’s a true talent both on guitar and vocals .

Simply Brilliant! This cover has that lovely elastic feel of hendrix' playing style that most other renditions simply can't convey. Great straight forward vocal too.

if i remember correctly, this song has 7 chord changes which is already complicated enough. but the mix with blues and jazz and the various techniques (sliding, pick placement, bends, vibrato using the neck). oh and yea, you have to have a good voice and sing over all that
A beautiful chord progression, very straight forward but there’s such an appeal to the many ways it can be played, this acoustic version highly praised it was clean
What's so amazing is that despite it's complexity, it's a very catchy and accessible song. I heard it for the first time in the 90s as a teenager and instantly loved it.

I’ve always found it interesting how much marketing plays into the crap that’s on the radio today. Forget about their abilities to actually play an instrument, but do they have the right look, the right height, are they wearing the right clothes?
