- My wife and I built this house in 1994 for the Seattle Folk Life Festival. Then added to it 1995 when we were invited to display it for a year long exhibit at the American Visionary Atr Museum. Well, thi ish a nice "organic" house, and I love the way you use shells as the zink, and the bed with natural organic materials, although, if I would build mine, I would put a descent soft bed for the fairy to sleep and tuck in, since my fairies are "special fairies", they would still come from Britain, on a long journey to Belgium, and my house or houses, should accommodate them pretty well! TFS

I came upon fairy houses and yours. How is it possible to have the knowhow to do this ? Amazing !!
We just felt creative urges and had to do something with them. So one fall we tried making life size chairs you could actually sit in. During the winter we started do smaller versions. The whole world of creating a miniature kingdom came from that beginning. We did not know how to do it at first. the skill came from keep trying. It gets easier. Thanks, Mike

Start an etsy shop and look for fairy festivals.
That's great!! Glad you're creating nature art, too. I would just look up art shows and festivals and fairy festivals. You should be able to find some that way.

What I am wondering, is if your the same people that have these on Pinterest, how do you Market SUCH big houses? I Love this, Its wonderful. I too have made some, but where I live there is NO market for them. Mine surely are not that big, but I am working on a much bigger design of one. But where would they be best fro market value for the work that is involved in these. Great Design You have I love it!!!
Hi Tom, thanks for your comment. Big houses are hard to market most of the time people ask us to make something smaller. Even the small ones are time consuming so our return of time invested doesn't work out to enough but peole usually havr a budget or a cetain amount the are ok with spending od on a house so it makes agood profit difficult but if you are working on other things and can do these on the side it helps. Different pinners on pinterst have pinned our cretions all over pinterst. We doo have etsy shops too. Debbie is sunflowerhouse, we also have etsy shops fairyhousethebook and mine is just Mike Schramer. Like you say, you have to love it! I once made one with three towers for a lady for her kids and never heard back fron her if she liked it~ nothing~ so I would try and etsy shop, show one on ebay, facebook marekplace or groups local and far away. I sold a folk sculture guy I called campbell soup boy on facebook to a guy in England. good luck love to see photos of your work. Mike~the natureartists~

Yea, for me I just Love to make them, I am soon going to try and make a " Fairy Play House" but where I live, " colorado" it has gotten pretty cold, But its kinda side line idea. We do but they are very expensive. They take a lot of time. I wish someone would ask us to make one a bit smaller. We do have a whole village we built and have it on display in our shop Fairy House Vintage here in provo Utah. We are in the process a making tutorial videos that will be available online. Hi Margret thank you, we do export to the UK. We shipped a house there a few years ago. We have a customer there now who wants one of the bigger houses we have here or she may have us commission something within her budget. Do you know how much of a budget you have to work with? As you can see we do get quite into them and they become very detailed. Ideally we would love to come there and build it from woods and materials we would gather there. If we could find a place to live and work on it while we were there and know where to driftwood, branches and moss that would be a dream. We do have some buildings here from the two new books, Fairy Village and F is For Fairy that are available on our etsy shop "sunflowerhouse. materials--- river root or just all twigs etc?
The first branch was a 50 years wisteria branch about 3=4 inches thick . A lot of driftwood some old shingles, kiwi branches and well as seaweed and many other twigs and branches from the sea. Very little roots. Thanks, Mike

While I do understand and deeply appreciate the hard work and creativity placed into this creation, you can not expect to meet your "goals" if you are going to charge 75000 dollars for this treehouse. It is ridiculous, we are still coming out of a failing economy, people need to tend to their children and living bills, no one would spend that money on something they would just look at, sorry for the harsh reality, beautiful ones.
Really? Can you do that for less? If it's not worth that to you, easy fix. DON'T BUY IT. This is obviously their largest piece. Rather than ridicule them for actually (gasp) wanting to make a little profit, look for something smaller. But you obviously do NOT understand the hard work and creativity, or think just anyone can do this. Running others down does not raise you up.
Finally going through our comments; it's so hard to keep up with social media. So sorry for not replying to you sooner. I think that the value placed on any kind of art, depending on the amount of time and energy put into it, is really not any different than someone buying a car or a home. Art is not always a necessity but it helps people get through difficult times and gives them happiness. There are some people who can afford art no matter what the economy is experiencing. But, it is not just about money for us when we create any of our art; it is sharing the gifts that we have been given. It is also our livelihood though, so we try to price our work in relation to the amount of time we spend on it. Hope that makes sense to you.
Thank you Susan. We appreciate your thoughtfulness and understanding. We are definitely not doing our art to become millionaires. We love creating our art. It is what makes us truly happy. We priced our Fairy House based on the time it took which was nine months but years and years of collecting.
