I think for the UK climate, a properly covered vestibule is one of the first things I'd want from a new tent. Along with the pooling on the flat roof, that's two design faults that would make this a no-go tent for me. Good review though mate - hope the missus is OK
Glad to hear it. After I watched your review, this is the one thing I was worried about! (Well, that and the water pooling on the flat roof.) @@daleyoutdoors
A better replacement for this tent is the OEX Rakoon II, which is basically the same shape but a bit larger with bigger vestibule areas on both sides. Downsides are it's a bit heavier at 2.7K and it's a bit more expensive ( I got mine for £113 but it's currently at £144 on Amazon but the price fluctuates ). However, it's a better quality larger tent and can confidently be used for 4 seasons, it can also be opened fully on both sides, so nice for the warmer weather and two people.
It's a very similar design to the OEX Racoon 2.1 from Go Outdoors, shape and size, but the OEX is a inner pitch first with a fly sheet covering the aluminium poles and a 5000HH rating
Andrew Parks Outdoors has some great content. Thorough reviews. Well put together and mixes up a wide range of outdoor gear. Some fantastic locations and really tests the stuff out. Knowledgeable, fair and realistic about getting the best out of what’s out there before the rest of us have to put our hands in our pocket.
Nice that you're giving a bigger hammock setup a go. Hopefully it works out. I've done a few recent hammock camping backpacking trip videos. I'm smalltime lol. Might be able to get something out of them.
'somebody moans about if you dont set the tent up properly', I feel your pain, they are like circling vultures. Great video, really nice wee tent, I hope it resurfaces!

Almost the best budget wild camping test until the dying minutes lol nice work thanks for sharing. Feels like a lot of the camping/ hiking and other RUclipsrs are going quiet, thinking it’s been so full on and intense over the last couple years people are at burn out. Keeping my fingers crossed a bit of sunshine will bring them back and smiling.
Looks good value for the money. I assume you could solve the pooling on the roof by adding a fabric capping like the Hilleberg Soulo and Naturehike Cloud Peak 2. Regards Keith
Hey Ben, my first wild camp was an organised one, led by a Mountain Leader. I've always followed his advice that you should pitch your tent foot-end into the wind (better to have the wind push the tent onto your feet than your head). And the foot-end should shield the vestibule from wind, rather than catch it, when the door is open. So, on your tent that would make me #teamright
Good review. Good looking tent and great value. Hopefully they do make more. Did wonder if the ‘roof’ would puddle were showing us round it. Hope Mrs D is ok.
I had 2 pairs of those Craghopper trousers to wear on two different film shoots, and the groin ripped/stitching came undone on both pairs. Be interesting to see how you get on with them!
Amazon sells a fantastic 2 man tent, with aluminium poles and in a similar design, it's called a Forceatt tent. It's about £70, plus about £7 to replace the pegs for the better Y shaped pegs. It really is phenomenally good for the price!!! It claims to be 2.5kg, but I weighed mine after switching out the pegs and it is 1.936kg 👍🏼
I have a Campz lacanau 2person tent like you I got it in winter, £120, its a gorgeous tent with side opening, great headroom, 2 kg, and it'll be my summer tent. The only other RUclipsrs doing Campz tents are speaking German!

Great vid as ever... The pooling water on the roof is definitely an issue and one reason why this design isn't great in my opinion 😢 Once the fabric has stretched with the weight of the water it'll always be prone to collecting water there, it'll get worse the more its used in the rain. Maybe this is one of the reasons they discontinued this model.
I agree with you that outdoor videos have diminished recently, I put that down to cost of living crisis and people don’t have the funds or as much time off as they used to, that’s the case for us, we haven’t been out or posted a video for over three months now. Hi Ben, there has been a decrease in wild camping and bushcraft content lately. I think the weather is to blame as it's been so wet and cold so far this year. This time last year we'd managed 4 wild camps, this year we've just managed one. Good review of the tent, though i much prefer sleeping under a tarp or in a hammock myself though. Most waterproof/ripstop material is (generally) only made in 1.5 meter widths due to the size of the looms they are made on. The seems run across the width of the floor (if the tent has one) - less stitching, sealing and less likely to leak - its unusual to see an off-set seem running the length of a floor, but its position to one side means there's less pressure on the weakest part and should last longer. There's no need to buy a manufacture's footprint, you can buy, make or modify a much cheaper and far more robust version: ruclips.net/video/9_k_FTWIHKo/видео.html&ab_channel=Bokooda I agree this time of year always gets me excited with the lighter nights coming and warmer (above 5˙C) temperatures. @ScottishSummiteer is a relatively unknown RUclipsr who's been putting out loads of decent videos recently. Some of them are hikes, some wild camps, some bothy stays, some multi day hikes with camps.
Think a lot of creators have struggled with the crap weather, just so wet out there, but here is a list of great content creators that have great back catalogue that can be watched Firstly Lucy oranGina, she is currently going through breadt cancer treatment ,but still getting out there watch is staggering seeing what she is going through and cant believe she does not have more subscribers. Others Karen gone wild obviously Owby outdoors,Muddy bootlaces and Fit for adventure. Hope Mrs Daley ferling better and good hubby points for going home .
Seems ok the tent - bit of design flaw retaining the water on the top . I have trimmed who I watch wrt camping and hiking - I like your channel and Ben , Luke from TOGR , Wildbeare , Stripey hat guy and AB camping , Cimber bushcraft and Bjorn Bull Hansen. That's it I find the rest either annoying or trying to get me to buy " this must be the greatest bla bla bla ever " . Also hope the wife was ok . Best wishes from the Carpathian Mountains.
Why do so many RUclipsrs use Jetboil gas canisters? They are a premium gas buy. For me its not the gas you buy but the ability of your stove to burn it. In cold weather that demands a stove with a heat pipe to heat the gas and give an even burn. In the fishing world they talk about a 'Carp tax' which translated means that you pay top dollar/GBP because of branding, but where lesser or equal products will suffice. Jetboil gas canisters is a case in point.
Not really noticed very much difference in price between different brands. Just that the small canisters are massively more pricey than the larger ones. It’s why I have an adapter and keep refilling my little cans from bigger ones - far more of a saving. I fill some up with just butane for warmer conditions (cheapest) and some with a mix for cold nights. My remote stove has a pre heat tube and means the can can be inverted if necessary.
Fatman Faffing is a superb channel. OK, the production values are about as budget as they come but subject matter and of course the ridiculously good looking presenter makes up for this.
I think there is a bit of utube burnout going on as content has been a bit strange lately. I used to follow summit or nothing but he's gone a bit quiet. Good bloke outdoors I like and Backpacking uk, Andrew Beavers, Black Crag, Lonewolf 902 and The outdoor gear review are good. Lots of Korean, Thai and other Asian camping channels although am not sure quite what they are selling 😂😂.
I don't want to be THAT guy, but since you asked... 🤣 I do a small fishing channel that I'm going to be expanding into the realm of "fish n camps", where I pull up on an island in my boat and camp overnight, then fish the next day. Videos from guys like you and Gaz have really helped me learn what gear is easiest to pack in the boat and not take up too much space. It won't be every video I do but I'm gonna try and do them once a month summer into the fall. It's also in the US so if you're interested in in broadening your outdoor horizons I'd be glad to have you subbed!
Reference your comments about RUclips, I think even the keenest outdoor type viewer can only watch so many 'How to pack a Back Pack' 'How to make a feather stick' type videos, and then there are the regular displayers of expensive kit which they have been given to punt out as 'must haves' to the general viewers, who invariably need a Bank loan to buy it. Eventually the whole thing runs out of steam until the next craze comes along. Electric bikes! Now have you seen the 'must have' £$4000 super cross country bike I have been sent? (free) Let me show you....😂😂

Think a lot of creators have struggled with the crap weather, just so wet out there, but here is a list of great content creators that have great back catalogue that can be watched
Firstly Lucy oranGina, she is currently going through breadt cancer treatment ,but still getting out there watch is staggering seeing what she is going through and cant believe she does not have more subscribers.
Others Karen gone wild obviously
Owby outdoors,Muddy bootlaces and Fit for adventure.
Hope Mrs Daley ferling better and good hubby points for going home .
Thanks! There’s a few there I haven’t seen so will check them out 🤓 she’s fine now thanks #besthusbandever
Great video-hope your wife is ok.
She’s good now, thanks!
Red Branch Bushcraft, TA Outdoors, Spruce On the loose are all good channels when I’m not watching you, Gaz or Wildbeare.
No idea. This is the first one I’ve bought, I used a gift voucher for a haul video.
@@jonsutcliffe8508 I usually do that. I was just using the rest of my voucher 👍
Border Raiders are pretty hood if you like cinematic intros
I hate intros.
@@daleyoutdoors 🤣🤣🤣
@@daleyoutdoors intro-vert!
Oh and Wilde Beare is good.
All her videos are the same. She's done the same tarp video endlessly 😬
Fatman Faffing is a superb channel. OK, the production values are about as budget as they come but subject matter and of course the ridiculously good looking presenter makes up for this.
👌
Hope the wife is okay. Same to you, have you recently discovered any new channels? I sometimes steal techniques used in none camping videos too 😅
She’s all good now mate. I’ve been watching z random vlogger called ‘itz sky’. He talks about filming and cameras but has quite a unique style 🤓
@@daleyoutdoors good to hear,
I will have to check them out and so I can maybe spruce up some of my own content
I’ve completed all the Thai videos 🤣
@@daleyoutdoors 😂😂😂
I will send you a sticker Ben
Have you watched the Wiltshire man
Nope. Will check him out 👍
Cotton Bud @CottonBud videos are beautifully filmed. Why he only has 2.78k subscribers is baffling.
you going have to take grizzly gaz up kinder great vid
I don't want to be THAT guy, but since you asked... 🤣
I do a small fishing channel that I'm going to be expanding into the realm of "fish n camps", where I pull up on an island in my boat and camp overnight, then fish the next day.
Hope your wife was ok 👍
She’s good now thanks 👍
Reference your comments about RUclips, I think even the keenest outdoor type viewer can only watch so many 'How to pack a Back Pack' 'How to make a feather stick' type videos, and then there are the regular displayers of expensive kit which they have been given to punt out as 'must haves' to the general viewers, who invariably need a Bank loan to buy it. Eventually the whole thing runs out of steam until the next craze comes along.
Electric bikes! Now have you seen the 'must have' £$4000 super cross country bike I have been sent? (free) Let me show you....😂😂
You’ll love my next video 👌
Have a look at Miles From Anywhere. He’s videos are pretty good and his drone footage is first class 👍
Will do! Thanks 🤓
I enjoy this channel: WildBeare
Aussie camping channels: #The Silly Swagman and #Scottys Gone Walkabout.
Lay off the beans n toast
