I picked up a Decathalon Quechua tent for $20 before Christmas and gave it a 4 day rain test while I stayed all comfy and dry in my car tent. Checked it several times and all dry-even after heavy showers with some blustery wind. Cheap doesn’t always mean total crap. Sure, it won’t last for years, but that’s ok. It’s for my grandkids to get started and I know it ain’t gonna leak.

As one who has, in my dim and distant motorbike rallying days, owned many tents I like the style of this one. Not that I'm in a position to buy a tent anymore....now old and disabled (but still have FOUR tents I haven't used for a few years).
As for Temu....I bought a long kaftan style dress. Blooming thing is huge. All I need to go with it are a couple of poles and some guy lines and I'm sorted. It's not stealth mind as it's bright red! 😆

Great video. Looking for a tent like this and have been very impressed with things that I’ve already bought from Temu. Will definitely be considering this for backpacking and bikepacking (seems small enough to go across my handlebars). I actually prefer pitching the inner tent first so for those warm nights when you don”t need a fly (there’s not many I know!), you don’t have to use one. Certainly cheaper than some of the alternatives. 👍🏻

I think its a perfect tent for someone maybe looking to get into wild camping but dont want to spend a fortune. The specs of 3000 hh for that price, plus two doors and free standing is an absolute bargain, providing it holds up in the rain. Pegs/guy lines are easily replaced for cheap. @jamesbowen5573 Год назад +1

I had an idea when you said it was underweight you are going to be missing something like a tent Peg. Now you know why it's underweight. I believe the measurements they are using is from the outside not the inside. Remember it's taller on the outside because of the two poles and the spacing.
It looks like a pretty good little tent for being a cheapo. The first thing I would do is get some clear Flex Seal and coat that rainfly to make it waterproof. Because if you ever get in the rain in that thing the way it is oh, you're not going to like the outcome. But if you waterproof that rainfly correctly it should be a pretty workable little tent. I got one very similar to it from Walmart for about 20. It's not called a desert fox. But when you know the secrets of how to make them waterproof your biggest consideration after that is ventilation and you can leave the rainfly off if you're not expecting bad weather. And that's always a big win
Also for the things holding the vents open, you can wrap duct tape around them a few times and it will stiffen it up. Grab the tape around it sideways and go from one end to the other back and forth make a couple of passes.

There are far too many precious videos about fancy tents, obsessing about waterproofness, zips, weight, denier and all kinds of nonsense. For that reason I like this channel which concentrates on what is available at a reasonable price. 90% of all British camping is done in summer fair weather and a simple dome tent with fiberglass poles will do the trick as a shelter. Better still buy a 2 person single skin cheapie, spend an hour sealing the seams and spraying the fabric a couple of times. If you are really going for it then replace the fiberglass with aluminium poles for £20 and save more weight. I have a massive dome shelter (KingCamp 2 p) ( 180x210x130 ) It stays dry and with alu poles weighs under 2 kg. Its obviously self standing and so very handy when the ground is hard or you want to change position. Keep it simple unless you are camping in winter on Snowdonia

How does it perform in the rain? Looks like the rain will fall inside the doors when open, even with the porch open & supported with trekking poles or sticks. But who knows until tested. Many design features are similar to my NatureHike P-series (Professional) 3p tent, that I inadvertently got for free. There was some COVID delay, and AliExpress had their 45 day delivery guarantee, so I got a refund & purchased the Taiji 2 instead. 2 weeks later the tent showed up. Had it out for the first time, a few days ago, tho no rain. Inner isn't completely mesh, but that would lend to it's UPF 50+ claim, and how I was using it, as a Beach Sun shelter & protection from mosquitos at dusk 🌄

I really don't mind a cheap tent on the understanding that I know it's a cheap tent and keep my expectations under control. One thing I always do with cheap tents is to treat with a water proof agent and seal the seams. Especially if I know that I will be using it in fair weather only.
It really bugs me when people knowingly purchase a cheap tent but then proceed to bitch about it's short comings. To which I respond with... It's a cheap tent! What did you realistically expect? More of interest to me is that they rarely have sufficient ventilation to avoid condensation.
But, if you know, you know to plan around the potential problem... this little 1p tent seems to have better then average head space.

Better off going to Argos for this price. Would be good to compare this tent to a top end tent from Temu.

It doesn't seem that bad for a cheapy, the real test will be rain. And as you say if its just to get started in wild camping or a quick overnight its OK. I don't get why people get stressed about inner pitch first either... its literally minutes to clip it up and dump the fly over the top... I love my MSR Elixir 1... strong as ox 🐂 because of the way it pitches. 👍

It's forecast rain here for the weekend (shock) so if I can't get out for a camp I'll leave it up in the garden and see how it does. I'll pitch quick though and get the outer on before it fills up with water 😆 #innerpitchbitch
