All music comes from influential music from the past. As music is easily accessible especially with the internet, there have been some great indi bands that have come out this past 20 years with the younger generation.
Damn. It's difficult listening to this now. I was going through some real bad times when I used to listen to Dinosaur Jr. As great of a band they are, listening to their music takes me right back to that place and time in my life. I think a lot of people can relate.
Me too. In 1992 the first concert I went to without my parents was Dinosaur Jr opening for the Cure. Last year, my 13 year old's first concert was Dinosaur Jr at the Fillmore in San Francisco. He loved it. It took all those complicated memories and made them better, but the irony is that my kid is going through really tough and similar shit as I was, so in a way, it just got passed down. We had a great night and rocked out hard, ears ringing after the 2 nights we saw them, and on the second night I got the roadies to give me the set list and a pick after the show. They played this song, which I love, and they played Freak Scene, which is my kid's favorite. He said it was one of the coolest things he's ever done. He has the concert poster hanging in his room to this day.
I saw them last year at the Observatory North Park in San Diego & this year at the Belly Up in Solana Beach They sound as fresh & raw as they did in the 90s. I love how the music & lyrics can cut right to the core of my soul & turn me inside out. Dino Jr is one of THE MOST underrated bands.
I've been listening to Dinosaur since I was 14. Like 25 years now and it's hard to believe. Looking back, this stuff is just timeless. J's songwriting and virtuosic solos still blow me the fuck away. Long live Dinosaur Jr. Cheers from North Carolina.
I once had a dream in about 1994. I was in a wheel chair on a path in the woods and this song was playing. When the solo hit I lifted into the air and flew for what seemed like forever. When the song was over I had to figure out how to get down. It was very scary. I don't remember the end. I think I woke up. But the feeling of flying in a dream to the outro solo of this track has been among the happiest memory of my life.
