Around 400,000 people there that day. 250,000 paid and the sest broke through the fences. People forget how big Purple were back in the 70s. The Eagles and Sabbath were support acts. Biggest band on the bill but Blackmore wanted to go on second to last just as the sun was going down. Plus, he wanted to make it really difficult on ELP by blowing up his amps, and he destroyed a tv camera with his guitar. ELP were nit happy because everyone remembers Purple more than them from that day.

You obviouly liked the voice of that bass player, Glenn Hughes. So I recommend to check out Rata Blanca ft. Glenn Hughes - Mistreated ruclips.net/video/lvsMA6wgicA/видео.html Glenn Hughes, (the voice of rock), was in Deep Purple 1973-1976 on bass and backing / additional lead vocals, and in many other bands after that. I have read that his vaocal range is five octaves, from D2 to D6. For me he is one of the best rock singers.

That was very good, but only semi-good for me. I have DP seen and heard live with Glenn Hughes and David Coverdale and it was nice, but also `only` nice. And yes "Mistreated" was my favorite song too on the album "Burn". Because the very best performance of DP I see and of course heard was the formation with Roger Glover on bass guitar and one of the best vocalist ever Ian Gillan - one of the best rock singers next to Robert Plant at that time. Sorry but that's just my taste - all the best @all from germany

Coverdale sings like he has a sock in his mouth during the entire performance. Glenn Hughes is definitely the superior vocalist to this very day. Find the video from this concert where Blackmore sets the stage on fire (and Ian Paice). He also trashed 3 or 4 Strats, lol. Petulant child is his hallmark.

In the seventies for me Deep Purple was THE BAND! Incredible musicians, music way ahead of its time. After the departure of original singer Ian Gillian and bassist Roger Glover they took ads I’d Coverdale (who created Whitesnake later on and bassist and vocalist Glenn Hughes (who went to Black Sabbath for a while) and created a monster album Burn which is among the top 3 DP albums….incredible talent!

    • @michaelkarlsson5966
