You sir have my respect. Kudos to you for not only listening to Rainbow but for “getting it”. You understand. You don’t “hear” music like this, you feel it. Ritchie is the greatest guitarist of all time. He, like other top tier guitarists, plays in the moment. That song, the following night, would have a totally different solo section. Maybe longer, maybe shorter. There’s a story behind this particular concert. The night before, at another gig in Germany, a bouncer started beating up one of the audience, so Ritchie leapt of stage and (I’m not entirely sure how) righted the wrong, for which he was promptly arrested and spent the night locked up. He was freed quite late in the day and had to tear down the autobahn at breakneck speeds. This gig didn’t start until around midnight I believe, but the audience knew he was on his way and waited patiently. Nobody walks out of this lineup to get the last bus. If I remember correctly the previous show was actually a few days before and he had been in an Austrian jail for 3 days and when he arrived at this show it was almost midnight and he was still wearing the same clothes he was arrested in 3 days earlier.
This performance is one of the reasons this band is one of my all time favorite bands. This is perfection. Really all the songs from the 1977 Munich concert are exceptional and there are great videos on RUclips. This song and "Catch the Rainbow" are the two that stand out the most and highly recommend doing that song as well. The solo alone is worth it. Glad you discovered Rainbow, and there are multiple eras we can expose you to, but the Dio era is the most special.

A powerhouse performance - now compare it with the Deep Purple version! David Coverdale does an outstanding job with the bluesy vocal! Thanks Daniel. Again - your face! 🤗
You NEED to check out David Coverdale's version of this song with Blackmore and Deep Purple at the California Jam in 1974. It's the original lineup that first recorded this song on Purple's "Burn" album.
@@jalkabre5904 I am so happy to finally find people that understand him like I do. I noticed I left out the "t" in his name. I'm bad with trying to type faster than I can. Ritchie Blackmore!
Great reaction. I remember travelling many hours by coach from northern England to Brussels, Belgium to see Rainbow during their 'Live between the eyes' tour, early 1980's? fronted by Joe Lynn Turner (I think) . If my memory serves me right, After the first song they left the stage for about 30 minutes as apparently someone threw a bottle onto the stage.
Ritchie Blackmore, you don't know what he's going to play, he doesn't know what he is going to play. A true master of his instrument. Classics... Montrose - Space Station No 5. Ted Nugent - Stranglehold. AC/DC - Riff Raff. Deep Purple - Lazy
Fantastic! It is actually a Deep Purple song because Ritchie is a founding member of Deep Purple.listen to the Deep Purple version Live at California Jam to see that their version is not any worse. And again, Ritchie Blackmore wrote this masterpiece.
Even though this was a DP song that Coverdale sang to me it seems like this song was written for RJD. For my money RJD's stuff with Rainbow and Sabbath was his best. Thanks for the video.

I always kind of considered this as a Coverdale Deep Purple track and also loved it from the Whitesnake 'In The Heart of the City' live album. Of course, Dio gives it everything and comes close to owning it.
Here's a suggestion - 3 sisters who grew up on classical piano lessons and the rock of the '70s and '80s. Then their Dad gave them the Rock Band video game and they are now on their 3rd album, touring Europe, and supporting Muse, Guns 'n' Roses, Three Days Grace, and Halestorm. The band is *The Warning* and they have a very loyal, international fan base. Try any of the pro-shot live videos from Teatro Metropolitan - 'Evolve', 'Disciple', 'Animosity', or their completely rebuilt 'Enter Sandman', which is on Metallica's _Blacklist_ album.

Cover of a Deep Purple song, though Ritchie Blackmore the guitar player is in both bands. This is nice, but the original Deep Purple version with David Coverdale is the definitive version, Cal Jam '74. The song was made for David's voice, even though Dio does it well, how could he not?
