Does your singing look natural, while being expressive? Also, are you an engaging performer?

My hands do all kinds of magical movements while I'm singing. It's full charismatic display. I just let them do whatever they want. It helps me get out of my head. I hit better sustained high notes, keep pitch more effortlessly, adds huge amounts of color to my performances. I work harder singing with my hands "locked" into a stiff position. But when i let them fly... wow

This is one reason I like choral singing: never any question what my hands are supposed to do!

I raise my hands automatically. I go with the flow of the song

Well that's true but I also found out that sometimes gestures do help hitting the right pitch or the very high or low ones. So did I notice that putting an expression on the face like a slight grin do help as well. It's something I heard not once from voice teachers so I adopted this habit. Is that a bad one and I should get rid of it or it's ok as long as it helps?
    Thank you 🙏

Sure, once in a while as long as it matches the expression of the song. I say it’s better to build that in during exercises and then see if you can go without having to make that same gesture. I do this with students all of the time. Regarding the facial posture, yes, I talk about that in my videos. See my playlist on Singing High Notes.
