Every player watching this video knows that hitting the middle of the racket is a massive advantage.
But how many of you try to hit the middle?
Every player I have worked with simply tries to hit the ball and hopes it will hit the middle of the racket.
In today's session, we explain that if you consciously try to hit the middle of the racket, then magically it usually happens.
And all the benefits of great hitting naturally follow.

Genius. I never think of this. Just hit ten balls on the ball machine. Middle of the racket every time. Crazy
Sir, I watched this video yesterday night and tried today with my 10yr old daughter. It is really amazing advice....I see her game moved up multiple notches with in one session and she loved it. Though the video is of 3-4 min but the core advice is really less than a min. This is THE greatest tennis advice (among tons of videos i had watched n tried so far) that is extremely simple with great results, compounded. I even felt the moment u intend to hit with center of the racket, the foot work and body positioning too improves.
Lots of love ❤ from my daughter n big thank u from my end.
That's so kind and makes me feel awesome... I'm truly blessed to be able to share these ideas with so many people.
Thank you 🙏
Totally, I totally agree.
Hit the center of the strings...successfully
You little devil, how fiendishly simple!!! I can’t WAIT to try this out my next hitting session! You see my mantra is: “Hey, I paid for this frame, I might as well USE it!” I frame the ball CONSTANTLY! So let’s see if just deciding to hit the centre can possibly make any difference at all. I’m skeptically optimistic.
Brilliant! I play pickleball 3X a week and my Cardinal Sin is taking my eye off the ball as I set up for a BH shot. Ordered your book and can't wait to read. Pickleballers need this expertise as much as tennis players. Big thanks. Will give you the report ASAP.
Another eureka moment Steve, thank you. G
I have a practice match tomorrow morning, and this will be the item of focus for sure. Can’t wait.
I will add this idea to my wishlist thanks
I'll give this an honest try tomorrow at tennis practice. Thanks!
I am a hitting ball person as opposed to hitting ball in middle of the racket!! Will try this week to fix it!
Very interesting. I never try to hit the middle of the strings. I just hope it'll happen
Testify Brother, testify!! That’s me exactly: “I just hope it’ll happen” only it DOESNT! EVER!
Sometimes I wonder, why did I buy strings?
thanks
from 3.5 NTRP I am now 6.0 and 250th ATP
😂
What a coincidence - I, TOO, am a 6.0 and 250th in the world!
Then, I woke up in bed, drenched in sweat and late for work. You see, the whole thing had been... A DREAM
Good tip but I found one problem in trying it which you might have advice on. If you focus on hitting the middle of the racquet there is a tendency to slow down the stroke in order to be more careful. But no doubt there is a process here and this is a tip for practice rather than playing to start with?
Very interesting.
Question: does shifting one’s mental attention to the racquet not take focus and attention away from the ball?
Great question. The answer is no.
But it warrants further explanation.
You won't watch your racket. Your focus on the racket will be proprioceptive.
You will watch the ball. Your focus on the ball will be visual.
Visual and proprioceptive skills are merged all of the time.
Hope this isn't confusing. Glad your enjoying the channel.
