it is because "fight spirit" is a scoring criteria. So, yell is a manner to show your fight spirit, but off course you don't gonna score only if you yell, so the girl try to show their spirit but the technique wasn't good enough to score.
The reason to yell is to show you have attacked. We shout to say- "we have attacked, did you see?" Scaring and spirit is definitely is a part of it (especially in kata) but it is to catch the attention of the side judges so that they can see the technique.
Look at this karate and compare it to traditional.....this is just dancing jumping around....look at kizami zuki it's ridiculous.....no connection between kihon kata and kumite
