It's quite interesting the amount of these, sort of, life lessons you'll find throughout DBZ. Maybe "life lesson" isn't the right way to say it, but my point is, those words (along with many others) express something that many of us come to realize during our own lives. Me, they connect with me through my want to not live life in fear of the 'what could go wrongs' if I make this decision or that decision: staying in a job for job security, not taking on a challenge due to fear of embarrassment, living a normal life because it's the safest life, etc. As 16 said, life is good, but that (those things) represents fears and that's not my idea of living. marcarita U11 17 and 18 can get stronger by fighting and training, as they are both human based. 16, on the other hand, is unable to do so due to the fact that he's a purely mechanical being, so in terms of power level he's pretty much stuck there (unless he gets upgrades).
16 is right... to care for life is good, but cowering without putting up a decent fight is not a good way of living. If you walk right into a fight against someone as Evil as Cell, you're doing the right thing!
Maxim249 and I remember he does. Remember the Episode when 16 took bad damage to his inside's. Bulma and her Father upgraded him. Bulma's Father even realized something different about 16. Something less, cold or heartless. And he sent his cat into the room to see 16's reaction. The cat climbed to the top of 16's shoulder and licked 16's face. 16 just smiled and pet the Cat with his fingers. It's true, nothing that is completely robotic could show that kind of care for life. It's impossible to create something like that.
16 has got to be hands down one of the most badass androids to have been in the series when he says he is gonna kill cell it gave me chills and im pretty sure i aint the only one(i also came a little)
Its the way in which the voice actor said that line. He said it in such a tone that he made you believe that he WAS going to destroy Cell and he almost did!
I've always loved this scene. The 3 "androids" (only 16 is a real android, the other two are actually cyborgs) made a face turn during this scene, especially 16. I believe without 16 and the big threat that is Cell, both 17 and 18 might have eventually turned out evil just like their future counterparts. The Z-warriors treated the artificial humans so kindly after this like when Tien sacrificed himself to make sure that 18 escapes from Cell, Krillin befriending 16, Krillin sparing 18's life even though the whole planet is at risk and eventually, using a wish that the bomb inside 17 and 18 would disappear. After Cell died, 18 joined the Z-warriors and 17 dedicating his life to nature just like 16 who couldn't be brought back to life since he was never truly alive to begin with.
You’re wrong. Robot or not, Sixteen was alive. He said that the world was a good place, and he wanted to save it. He sacrificed himself to help Gohan unleash his true power. After the time he spent traveling with Seventeen and Eighteen, seeing animals along the way, he wanted to save the planet and allow everyone to live. He wanted Seventeen and Eighteen to live because he knew what it was like to enjoy life. But yes, he was unfortunately not able to come back to life due to his purely mechanical nature.

I've talked to folks who disagree - because the music definitely changes it; as they argue, for a series of set pieces dominated by the music or something like that instead of the wushu martial arts thing it started out as. Changed the tone, for sure. But man, those feels; that's a piece of my childhood. I think it made it better and deeper, also. By, yes, changing the original artists' vision (Super and I think current reruns use the original score). My adult ear finds it a little gimmicky for characters' themes to follow them around like that, but eh, so what. I think something that gets overlooked is the melancholy Namek music that set the tone so beautifully for that part of the series. Rainy summer afternoon watching the Z fighters on Namek, feeling the awesome desolation of the place like I was there. ...and honestly? 16's speech and voice acting is cool, but I really came back here for the music. It's one thing to hear 16 say "I will kill Cell." But then the music kicks in, and you understand what his resolve feels like - and that is a powerful, awesome thing.
Thank you ! I was looking for the theme that plays when #16 expresses his resolve to kill Cell. It seems like an unreleased track sadly but fortunately some good folk managed to get a good rip of it. Track name: Frieza-Ginyu Beat.
16's speeches as a kid were masteruflly done. Having him contrast the other androids we've seen, him fully embracing humanity and the beauty of this world - Encouraging Gohan. And now with all the AI talk I find myself coming back to the android and cell saga.
Android 16 was supposed the most robotic of the androids. They wanted us to believe he was incomplete by giving him a robotic voice and his movements seem stiff but during this scene and after, we see he’s the most human of the androids.
One of the best parts of this whole arc was seeing the erstwhile villians, 17 and 18, see a moral struggle they actually care about play out before them here. 16 and Cell are the two ends of what they could become in the end, as evidenced by the alternate timeline.
True! It didn't even occur to me, but yeah, 16 represents the best of Gero's Androids, while Cell represents the worst. Being tormented and hunted down by Cell mostly gave them a distate for it themselves, and being friends with 16 (who's conviction to protect the world lead him to saving their lives) inspired the twins reevaluate their humanity.
17 & 18 might’ve been ruthless emotionless people in future trunks timeline but in the main timeline after causing havoc of being programmed by a mad man named gero they saw greater evil in cell and when 18 sat and watched her brother struggle in battle you could see change in 17 & 18’s mind/heart & soul that they didn’t want this life of being evil hurting others the way cell did and 16 stood up stepping to cell and let 18 know that “life is good but living in fear is not his idea of living when others are being harmed and he has the abilities to make an effort to put an end to evil like cell” 16 is a deep person I can relate to and it’s why I choose to go against the higher ups and expose their corruptions all the time to people all over the multiverse sharing on how world order is evil for all the lies they told and slaved us into and not being able to pursue your craft and stay slaves to normal life of confinement is living in fear and you should keep at your craft to touch others and show who you are to others with your craft and say fuck society telling you to have backup And That moment right there changed 17 & 18 to be better people and 16 let gohan know to let everything inside you go and release everything to take out cell for all the pain he’s caused to lots of people of planet earth.
16 turned out to be that big brother 17 and 18 needed who set an example for the others. He taught them that hurting innocents is wrong and didn't let the evil of world change him despite being an outcast. 17 and 18 of the original timeline were treated like monsters so they became monsters. No 16 to guide them. Sad.
This scene always brings chills across my body because of the significance it has behind it in short android 16 dedication to life and the respect he has for everything
1. It's a shame that even if 16 chose not to kill Goku despite him being right there at the Cell Games, that Goku and 16 never even had one chance to fight even if it was just a sparing match. 2. It's a damn shame that being fully mechanical is a loop hole for not being able to be brought back with the Dragon Balls, despite Krillin refers to 16 as a living being. 3. Krillin stuck up for 16, but despite Bulma's Dad literally 16's softer side, as soon as 16's bomb comes in the mix it's a case of don't trust him. Remove the bomb. Despite the fact, Bulma and her Dad could search his memory banks, or Krillin/Tien could've said 16 can be trusted. 4. I love how after 16 and Perfect Cell died, 17 and 18 both chilled the fuck out with their mission to destroy Goku. 5. How fitting that 17 got a job as a Park Ranger protecting the wildlife. If 16 were still alive, he'd be so proud as he wouldn't want it any other way.
this just goes to show that the kindest really are the strongest, despite how many label kindness as weakness, biggest mistake you can make against a pure hearted person.
The moment is where u realized that not only are the Androids NOT the main villains of this saga, but that the Androids were never villains to begin with. They’re just misunderstood rebels! Cell was always the evil one! 17 & 18 were just rebellious young people who didn’t really know any better…
As a fan I wanted a bigger role. But he had a big role. Changed the way 18 thinks on life and even 17 especially how you see him in super. Also the impact he had on Gohan
Android 16 is a good guy. Except that he wants to destroy Goku but he has overcomed his programming of Dr. Gero and joined the Z fighters and even tried to save Gohan from getting killed by Cell when Cell was crushing Gohan.
This is by far my favorite fight from the original and tfs version. Android 16 I think is one of the most underrated heroes of the series. It took Gohan going ss2 at his full strength and at a third of his strength 16 actually was holding his own. That actually suggests to me that he could have beaten Goku, maybe not won, but actually done some serious damage.
The music honestly makes the scene miles better. It’s a shame the faulconer ost is slowly getting lost to time. I doubt upcoming English releases will even have the faulconer score
Yeah, I hate this too - modern replays use the "authentic" scores even though most of the foreign fans liked the Faulconer stuff. Not sure if that's a sign of the times or just licensing issues. That music added something to the experience (although some do argue it took the original feel away): like this bit here, you can FEEL 16's resolve. It's cool to hear him say it, but the music hits and suddenly you're there, on your last day, doing what is ****ing necessary.
To be honest I feel 16 should of been the one to kill cell not any of the z fighters. It would have been really poetic for dr gero best androids at the time to be killed by one of his own androids.
@@degenerate-otaku6634 It gets infuriating after a while. Forced tension by way of character stupidity for the sake of "plot". Most of the Cell arc is very stupid with a forced plot. But it has some great character development.

This was a defining moment in DBZ history. If it wasnt for 16 Gohan may have not been able to destroy cell, so yes 16 was really the reason Cell was destroyed.

Android 16😢😢
The music fit's in so well. The music really fits in with the show's atmosphere. Absolutely love this OST. Also, Android 16 is so underrated. This badass scene really made him so cool for me.
Henry the PaleoGuy He was stronger than 17 and 18 in that time.
Balthazar l am pretty sure if he was still alive he would have always been stronger then those 2
marcarita U11
17 and 18 can get stronger by fighting and training, as they are both human based.
16, on the other hand, is unable to do so due to the fact that he's a purely mechanical being, so in terms of power level he's pretty much stuck there (unless he gets upgrades).
16 is right...
to care for life is good, but cowering without putting up a decent fight
is not a good way of living. If you walk right into a fight against someone
as Evil as Cell, you're doing the right thing!
Maxim249 and I remember he does. Remember the Episode when 16 took
bad damage to his inside's. Bulma and her Father upgraded him. Bulma's
Father even realized something different about 16. Something less, cold or
heartless. And he sent his cat into the room to see 16's reaction. The cat
climbed to the top of 16's shoulder and licked 16's face. 16 just smiled and
pet the Cat with his fingers.
It's true, nothing that is completely robotic could show that kind of care for
life. It's impossible to create something like that.
Did Arnold Schwarzenegger lend his voice for this
WOW That's the best comment ever
Android 18: "16, what do you think you're doing"?
Android 16: "I'll be back!"
It's funny cause Tori based the androids on the Terminator.
crunchy role
That would've been perfect
By the way it was nice hanging you with you guys. you are
COOL
Chuck norris hernandez fraturn huarez de leon LOL
I fuckin love that part, I lol'd so fuckin much
😂😂😂😂
16 has got to be hands down one of the most badass androids to have been in the series when he says he is gonna kill cell it gave me chills and im pretty sure i aint the only one(i also came a little)
Nomads Land tbh i think between this and ultimate gohan in buu saga probably the greatest what coulda beens in db
Its the way in which the voice actor said that line. He said it in such a tone that he made you believe that he WAS going to destroy Cell and he almost did!
Not too mention the music is dope as shit.
I love how 18 low-key didn’t believe him until he started walking
I appreciate Tien's commentary XD.
Wow now the big guy is walking into it
There’s no question that 16 is incredible.
“Life is good, but living in fear is not my idea of living.” 👏👏👏 Absolutely amazing
I wish Dragon Ball Super had this much depth
I wish DBS didn't exist
விஷ்ணு கார்த்திக் why its just a show
Isaac Bridges *here come the angry super fanboys...*
Jacob Kidd most of them are kids
I hate everybody
yeah, pretty much lol :)
The moment you heard _"I will kill cell"_ you immediately had a change of heart towards 16
This 'Cell' is comprised of 10.78% of Son Goku's DNA. These parameters... are acceptable.
18:But 16 what will you do here?
16:I will kill cell.
*Intense music plays*
"How do you plan on doing that?"
"I will dunk him"
may I ass cow LUL
LMFAO
17: "How did you get him off of me!?"
16: "I used my 2H"
"This Cell is comprised of 10.78 percent of Son Goku's DNA. These parameters... are acceptable!"
Cell: Okay, guess we're doing this now!
Cell charges at 16
"An admirable attempt by the red headed step child!"
Don't call 16 a piece of junk.
tell that to cell :P IM GOING TO DESTROY HIM !!!! :D
He is junk fuck that piece of shit vending machine-- refused to shake Kakarot’s hand after Kakarot’s crew helped repair him after he got pwned against cell here.
@@effortlessawareness8778 according to my calculations, any positive relationship with Son Goku is a very large crime.
@@jgoofy8233
Yeah well, A16 was beggin for z fighters help to repair him after cell Tore him
apart, then he refuses to shake kakarots hand after they patch him up. Ungrateful shit.
Idgaf about your position. Im talkin’ about that specific moment in the timeline, don’t take it out of context... Shiva.
@@effortlessawareness8778 LMAOO
"I will kill cell" and then the Ginyu Frieza music kicks in...just badass. Bruce Faulconer's score elevated this show so much.
I always likes Android 16! He's one of the greatest characters in DBZ
16's speeches as a kid were masteruflly done. Having him contrast the other androids we've seen, him fully embracing humanity and the beauty of this world - Encouraging Gohan. And now with all the AI talk I find myself coming back to the android and cell saga.
The voice actor for 16 did a great job.
Despite being a machine, 16 has more humanity than most humans.
"When the quiet boy who thought is weak finally decided to face the school's notorious Bully"
Android 16 was supposed the most robotic of the androids. They wanted us to believe he was incomplete by giving him a robotic voice and his movements seem stiff but during this scene and after, we see he’s the most human of the androids.
16 has a grown man holding back tears. This part and ultimately his death. He didn't deserve it.
"This Cell is comprised of 10.78% of Son Goku's DNA. These parameters...are acceptable."
17 & 18 might’ve been ruthless emotionless people in future trunks timeline but in the main timeline after causing havoc of being programmed by a mad man named gero they saw greater evil in cell and when 18 sat and watched her brother struggle in battle you could see change in 17 & 18’s mind/heart & soul that they didn’t want this life of being evil hurting others the way cell did and 16 stood up stepping to cell and let 18 know that
“life is good but living in fear is not his idea of living when others are being harmed and he has the abilities to make an effort to put an end to evil like cell”
16 is a deep person I can relate to and it’s why I choose to go against the higher ups and expose their corruptions all the time to people all over the multiverse sharing on how world order is evil for all the lies they told and slaved us into and not being able to pursue your craft and stay slaves to normal life of confinement is living in fear and you should keep at your craft to touch others and show who you are to others with your craft and say fuck society telling you to have backup
And That moment right there changed 17 & 18 to be better people and 16 let gohan know to let everything inside you go and release everything to take out cell for all the pain he’s caused to lots of people of planet earth.
Yup
16 turned out to be that big brother 17 and 18 needed who set an example for the others. He taught them that hurting innocents is wrong and didn't let the evil of world change him despite being an outcast. 17 and 18 of the original timeline were treated like monsters so they became monsters. No 16 to guide them. Sad.
Amen
@@TheIrishRushin Exactly. It was the perception of 17 and 18 that shaped them.
Thanks man I needed that.
This scene always brings chills across my body because of the significance it has behind it in short android 16 dedication to life and the respect he has for everything
frieza ginyu beat suits the scene so well!
“By the way, I enjoyed the time we spent together.”
“You guys are”
_”C O O L”_
Socially awkward until the bitter end lmao
this just goes to show that the kindest really are the strongest, despite how many label kindness as weakness, biggest mistake you can make against a pure hearted person.
16 is definitely one of my all time favorite characters even before the Cell Games. Get jacked like him but also spend time petting birds hahahaha.
The moment is where u realized that not only are the Androids NOT the main villains of this saga, but that the Androids were never villains to begin with. They’re just misunderstood rebels! Cell was always the evil one! 17 & 18 were just rebellious young people who didn’t really know any better…
Facts
I really think that 16 was what changed the androids path. He gave them a goal and was compassionate from the beginning
16:You guys are COOL
Lmao 😂😂😂
As a fan I wanted a bigger role. But he had a big role. Changed the way 18 thinks on life and even 17 especially how you see him in super. Also the impact he had on Gohan
Androids were the best looking characters in terms of facial aesthetics
What if 16 did this BEFORE Piccolo and 17 got beaten down? and teamed up on Cell with everyone else.
For an android he has more courage than an average human being.
17: "How did you manage to get him off of me!?"
17s voice sounded so scared and he was so glad that his big brother came to help him out
Android 16 is a good guy. Except that he wants to destroy Goku but he has overcomed his programming of Dr. Gero and joined the Z fighters and even tried to save Gohan from getting killed by Cell when Cell was crushing Gohan.
But in the end, he decided not to kill Goku.
Its amazes me how much human android 16 is than most.
Designed to be a villain ended up becoming a hero!
16, was the most loved. Character in draggon ball z
but SIXTEEN !!! What would you do here ?
The music switchup when he says "I will kill Cell" is godly
Living in fear is not my idea of living. Powerful words, this character is truly underrated
_Life is good, but living in fear is not my idea of living._
Won't lie, I'd like to go out like this, protecting those I hold dear
This was my first episode of dragon ball. Instantly hooked and the funny thing is at first i was mocking the show
When u getting bullied and big bro arrives 1:14
Trunks didn't need to go to the future, all he needed to do was find Gero's lab and release 16 (assuming he exists in that timeline.)
If it wasn’t for 16 reminding gohan how precise life is, cell probably would’ve won
Goosebumps literally every time.
I used one of my hard punches lol
16's so Metal. He literally reminds you of a vocalist in a metal band who writes his own lyrics.
"I used one of my hard punches"
To be honest I feel 16 should of been the one to kill cell not any of the z fighters. It would have been really poetic for dr gero best androids at the time to be killed by one of his own androids.
Remember that android 16 is an android modelled after Dr geros dead son
but sadly this never happened cell far surpassed 16 after he became semi perfect after absorbing 17
He stayed true to his word.
0:50 "You guys are KEWL."
LOL, guess he missed his social skills chip.
0:06 18's reaction was everyone else's when they first watched this scene. Season 4 is gold.
This part is technically season 5, but this whole arc is iconic
@@degenerate-otaku6634 The plot is really dumb though, with many plot holes typical of Dbz.
@@LordMalice6d9 yeah thats the biggest problem with it. Characters are stupid for the sake of carrying the plot along
@@degenerate-otaku6634 It gets infuriating after a while. Forced tension by way of character stupidity for the sake of "plot". Most of the Cell arc is very stupid with a forced plot. But it has some great character development.
@@LordMalice6d9 true, but its still my favourite, despite all that
android 16, its a shame we didnt see more of him, it would have been cool to see him grow as a character.
"You guys are...cool"
Why cant he come back damn it? 😢
Android 16 went from being a hunter to destroy Goku to protecting his fellow androids from being hunted by Cell
Love this video authentic and not that remastered or kai bullshit.
also episode 136 - silent warrior.
john quincy addinmachine Ex-fucking-actly
Yeah,no messing with the lines like kai did, Kai isnt more faithful to Japanese scripts, its LESS. Also Kai ruined the color pallete with filters. No garlic jr,Goku has a gay guy sass,as does Vegeta. Wtf. Toonami dbz >>>>kai
Kai does have its ups too, obviously the original is still better in almost every aspect but Kai def has some better parts. Gotta give credit where it's due
This was a defining moment in DBZ history. If it wasnt for 16 Gohan may have not been able to destroy cell, so yes 16 was really the reason Cell was destroyed.
“I will kill cell”
Que epic badass motivational music. Matches 16 perfectly.
Man, I remember before when he was supposedly the weakest of the Androids but that was before he even showed signs of wanting to fight. When he drops the gloves, he proved he was stronger than 17 and 18.
16 was so hyped up. wish he did a lil more
When 16 was the strongest android
I have always loved 16 and I always will. I wish they could bring him back for DBS but upgraded. He was a true android.
16 was by far the best android!
i miss him so much man :/
Says that he won't let Cell destroy Earth because it's a good place, we all know the real reason was because he contained a fraction of Goku's DNA
i am confusion are you a dumbass
bryan c i think you are
This scene is soo amazing that at 0:14 Even the hair waits for it cue to dance
16 was a gentle giant like android 8 from original Dragonball.
The music, the depth, just everything about this. DBZ will always be the best. I wish Super didn't happen.
Raj Patel Go away
Yeah please go away. You don't need to tell everyone you hate super on a DBZ video. Just keep it to yourself.
I think secretly he knew this would be his last true fight!
That quote he said just my opinion!
First and last fight
I loved watching this. It was the moment Sixteen truly became alive.
In my little bubble it ended when dbz did, screw GT and super and the movies, the drama and Bruce Falkners soundtrack is just pure gold, so many eye watering scenes in dbz
16 bro... The best quote ever life is good but living in fear is not my idea of living! So many people actually living in fear!
"You guys are... cool!"
16 is inspiration
