Those aren't teleports since it's a technique that literally only Goku and maybe a few others learned, you can't just disappear in DragonBall
@@mihailcirlig8187 yup the only one capable of disappearing is Goku with the instant transmission, but he needs to do the finger thingy and concentration before teleporting. iirc this was the afterimage technique, something only extremely fast fighters could do.
Cell was the only Dragon Ball Z villain that actually got in everyone’s heads. Buu and Freeza just pissed the lot off. But cell genuinely played mind games with all of them.
Watch it frame by frame, he literally spins it up like a tornado. Starts rotation in horizontal flight position and then turns the momentum towards a vertical axis to kick the snot out of Cell. F***ing awesome.
Really? I thought it was good, but I never felt it was that intense. If this is the best fight sequence in Z, Super's animation is definitely better. For example, Goku and Trunks vs Black and Zamasu, Vegito vs Zamasu, Goku UI vs Jiren (first), and the end of Goku and Jiren's latest battle. In fact, Goku vs Jiren in general in Episode 130 was probably the best animated fight scene in Dragon Ball, at least in terms of consistency.
Alan J nah all of supers animation is bad. everything is too static, nothing has impact and you don’t get a good sense of movement. In other words it isn’t really fluid ever. The art is good but the animation is overall lazy and subpar.
Are you kidding? There's a good sense of movement in may fights! In Vegito vs Zamasu, almost every blow has impact (save for a few rapid kicks), and Super definitely occasionally has really fluid animation. Just see some of the fights I talked about, and you'll see some of the most fluid Dragon ball animation. I'd especially say this is true for the first and last fights I mentioned.
NyQuiiL Cold & Flu that’s because gohan vs cell was Gohan dodging the entire time, hitting cell 2 times to demolish him, the usual power ups, and the kamehameha
Gohan vs. Cell wasn't really a fight. Just Cell beating down Gohan for a bit, then SSJ2 Gohan beating down Cell for a bit, then the kamehameha. Still love it though.
I mean this 2:36 is the crispest part of the series, while cell saga was the peak of the show. This part specifically did do everything right, but as a whole? Thats a diff story completely.
I love how even though Cell knows he's stronger than Goku, he still doesn't want to let Goku go on a spree and knock him out of bounds. He's fighting more reactively and not underestimating his opponent with the small amount of space he's given. The animation is able to showcase Cell's intelligence in an organic way, without actually doing this through dialogue. It's just a brilliant fight all around. The worst thing they did with this fight was destroy the arena. That was the single most engaging aspect of it
I'm glad the ring was there for Hercule's figjt & Goku's first round Nice to get rid of the ring after those for contrasting and to let them show their feats of strength
It would have been interesting to see this more if Cell had fought the other fighters, it's really odd that the tournament was built up, went through the effort to make and detail this fight, and then scrap it immediately.
I think it would be more interesting to watch the ring getting slowly destroyed as the fight gets more intense, then they having no choice but to change the rules

What better way to do that than betray your own team? Or assimilate contestants? If he were to have been nearly killed in the ToP, it might have taken Beerus, Jiren, or even MUI Goku to kill him again, because he can regenerate from asingle cell and become at least twice, if not more, as strong as before. And what if he took Jiren by surprise, and consumed him, huh?
It actually happens in Super, MUI Goku vs Super Jiren, and is a prime example of how much smoother the animation is in this fight comparatively. For Reference - 53:08 in this video ruclips.net/video/-xq8Za31i1I/видео.html

the thing that makes this fight is the timing of the shots. they recover from blows very quickly, but you always get a short moment of them grimacing from a hit before they counterattack, and it makes the pacing of the fight so much better, and really makes it feel like a struggle rather than just endless blocking and punching

This fight is so perfect not only does it present the peak of what two of the strongest fighters can do with their speed and precision but also shows that while on par Goku is on a noticeable back foot throughout the encounter if you pay attention. He really was giving his best and was clearly not going to win. So good work to the animators for capturing that detail.
@@marnixmaximus3053 He'd have fought valiantly and ultimately lost had the fight continued. It seems Goku's strategy during the fight was to go for a ring out. Only when Cell blew up the arena did it become apparent Cell wasn't gonna be the type of person to accept defeat on a technicality, Goku fought for a bit longer before deciding to quit, since it was essentially gonna be a fight to the death one he couldn't win but Gohan could. Chances are withdrawing being the smarter move because had Gohan seen Goku get beaten it may not have allowed him to tap into his power he might have been too shocked and wasn't quite their yet.
What I really like about this fight is how Goku moves between clashes. It’s especially obvious at 1:46, where he looks like he’s bouncing around on the moon or something. When you think about it, it makes a lot of sense considering that he spent an entire year in the Time Chamber, which is stated to have a much higher gravity than that of Earth. His body acclimated to the intense gravity, and now that he’s in normal Earth gravity it feels like nothing at all! It’s that attention to detail that really gets me with this.
This is the best fight in the show. Had Gohan actually fought Super Perfect Cell after he returned, that might have been better. But sadly they went straight to the beam struggle
Yes, that's my only complaint with this saga, it would've been much better if Gohan and everyone else had an epic fight against Cell, and then, when they are all fucked up, proceed with the beam struggle.
KurasakiBleachigo1 idk cause of he lost against an injured Gohan it wouldn't been a for sure win against Gohan and he seemed pretty confident he could fight the powered up cell before his injury
nnightkingj He lost to Gohan because of a surprise attack from Vegeta. And while Gohan might have a bit more raw power than Cell, Cell is a much better fighter. So he wins in anything that isnt a beam struggle
Absolutely unbelievable piece. The music, the choreography, the animation. You can sense not only is Goku fighting for the planet’s future, but that he is relishing testing himself. He’s at his peak, and you can see the skills he possesses. That kick at 1:27 is incredible.

Jazz Mazz bruh I've seen all of super. But the stakes never feel as high as they do in z. U can't almost feel the punches like u do in z. It's cool to look at some of the fights but they didn't put nearly as much effort into the series as they did with z and that's not debatable
+Robert Holmes I agree with that first part. Super is pretty dull for the most part. Keep hearing the second part, don't ever get it. I'm rewatching Z, and yes, there are awesome scenes, but the punches never really felt more or less powerful, or impactful, at least animation wise. The only real difference I would say, is in atmosphere. Kukichi is easily the best OST creator on the show and his tracks all of Sumitomo's out of the park, especially when they're well placed. As for the effort thing, that's pretty much straight up bullshit. Though it didn't always translate into on screen results, its been described at length that pretty much no effort was spared in improving the production of the show, and it certainly shows in the TOP, which has a lot of the best animated fights and moments in the TV franchise, a lot of the scenes being better than anything animated in Z. The reason why a lot of the time, these efforts often went to waste, was due to the horrible planning and pre-production that effected the show since its conception to its very end. www.sakugabooru.com/data/080da71f7c83ac8d64cde706c8693799.mp4 www.sakugabooru.com/data/a7eeb02d693eb20249277f88c26c0656.mp4 www.sakugabooru.com/data/9aa94b93c1f18a54f797639d2da3582c.mp4 www.sakugabooru.com/data/8d15f94127b676f9a30ed5917f5724a7.mp4 www.sakugabooru.com/data/25377e34f46c322668bf4e627748a662.mp4 www.sakugabooru.com/data/5d9c93ec32c116af11e8f79ad311a5b6.mp4 www.sakugabooru.com/data/78f7ebd9cd82c68a9b04985a274e33fc.mp4 www.sakugabooru.com/data/07fba098aa4cb05a347b45e3e2b51581.mp4 www.sakugabooru.com/data/8ada0ea13b67f5a378b6e84848c25504.mp4 www.sakugabooru.com/data/e261c9165846b51e54e24a9c780339a8.mp4 www.sakugabooru.com/data/b6e14c7e4986140866dd39f3ccb94969.mp4 www.sakugabooru.com/data/e726f6325e3f8b7339bcaefe49860cf5.mp4 In my eyes, Super is a really tragic show. Not in the sense it was bad, but because it was bad when it really had the potential to better, which I think is better demonstrated in the stark contrast in quality between episodes 123-129 in comparison to 130 and 131.
Also, where in dragon ball super did u feel like anything might not work out. In super, u were always like "oh he's strong, I wonder how they'll beat him" not "holy shit this character is about to get fucked up and I'm worried"
Even though it’s over the top as all hell I love how during this section of the fight they show how far Goku is pushed. The part where he has to back flip after his double leg kick and barely even touches the ground before taking off shows just how desperate the fight is getting. Cell is so fast and so strong that there is zero room for error. In my opinion this was Gokus best fight. The only other fight that can compare to the sheer grit of this in the entire series would be Piccolo versus 17. I miss the style DBZ had. Even if it was just mindless dumb action it could draw you in and make you really care about what was going on just with little touches like facial expressions, and body language.
Honestly he was also having Gohan watch him fight first, so Gohan could see how Cell fought. I don't know if that effected his mindset during the fight or not.
0:30 is so badass. Hands down best animation of any fight scene in DB. I really don't get what the hype is with DBS combat, the art style is just flashier
@@friendlyneighborhoodcollec5928 Then why was Goku confident that he could finish Cell when Piccolo talked sense into him for putting Gohan against Cell ?
@@akhil6826 dbs broly had the art style but animation wise while it was above all of DBS it still isn't up here with this Cell fight. And you're also comparing a movie production with a weekly anime production lmfao And no, MUI Goku vs Jiren was not better animated than this.
Anybody else love the sound design in dragon ball too. The teleport sounds, the sounds of them spinning threw the air, the punches landing even the landing noises are on point.
What I love about this is how well, for the first time, it really conveyed just how fast they move. To everyone else, and to us, we basically can't see anything. The only time we can see them is when they go in for an attack, thus slowing movement for an instant. It looks like they teleport on a swing, but really they're just moving insanely quick in an instant.. Obviously those with high powerlevels can track them, but even Cell at the start moves so fast Goku had trouble tracking him. Sadly fights aren't choreographed like they were in fights like this, or even in Z, in Super. It's just a lot of "cool moments" and repeat punches and kicks with beams tossed in.
Fights like this are always among the most interesting as they aren't so one-sided. Gokus fight with Majin Vegeta was another good example; sure Goku hid SSJ3 from him but yeah doesn't take away from how exciting the fight was :D
He lost when goku blew half of his body off therefore making goku the last man standing. Cell can change the rules cause he made the cell games tournament happen.
ItzLit XXIII Last man standing as in last man still alive, nothing said that Cell couldn’t regenerate. Piccolo was in there as well and there are ways to regain strength in the middle of the fight so it’s not as if it only applies to Cell.
Cell took the OoB rule out of the book by blowing up the ring prior to touching the ground. Also regeneration is far from illegal so aside from blowing up the ring, Cell played perfectly fair.
1:17 What I love about Dragon Ball, let alone shounen, is the reaction to hyperbolize the impact of an attack. It holds weight and force to give the audience a heavy impression of the fight.
The animation quality is definitely on another level, and the fact that this is an evenly matched fight just adds to the moment. Definitely the good part, with both sides landing significant blows, sometimes each other at the same time. A great DBZ scene.
My favorite part about this entire fight was Cell's innate respect for Goku. He had a high enough regard for him that he purposefully holds back in order to fully enjoy their fight. Cell knew from the beginning that he was stronger than Goku. He could have demolished Goku without breaking much of a sweat, and yet he went out of his way to keep the fight as even as he could. Goku was Cell's favorite opponent and the only one that he truly respected. Cell literally pulled a Goku for the sake of enjoying his fight with Goku, lol.
This fight truly felt like two super powered martial artists during it out, a trait all the best fights in the series share and something that a lot of the fights nowadays really lack

George Brown III None of those are even close to the level of this though, all those fights are incredibly same-y due to super’s fallback options and low time frame to create episodes. Not to mention none of them had nearly the level of story investment the cell saga had. Broly vs Gogeta is the only fight you mentioned there that is legitimately more visually impressive but the narrative tension isn’t even close to comparable and that’s a movie being compared to an average episode.
What I like about this scene is that cell was always way stronger than Goku but didn't power up to max but rather tried to beat Goku, who is a fighting genius, at his own game with fighting intuition and techniques. Instead of making it a power blowout he turned it into a game of chess
@@HHH_3 Bro was watching Dragon Ball Y. Cell was stronger than Goku, not by some crazy margin like twice as strong. But he was stronger and could have defeated Goku quicker if he used his full strength. Also Gohan's SSJ2 wasn't just a 2x amp. It was 2x plus an additional rage boost. Which explains why Gohan being around Goku level, was able to clown on Cell who was definitely stronger than Goku. 2x alone would not be enough to explain the beat down that happened.
Man, Super was good but it NEVER had a SINGLE fight scene like this or against Frieza on Namek or SS3 Goku vs. Kid Buu. This part of the fight makes me genuinely feel bad for the person who animated before it. Before this part, Cell and Goku were fighting, but the animation is so stiff and uninteresting. Hands down the best fight sequence in Z for me
LJ Agreed, absolutely did
Yesss, this one and the fight of Goku and Vegeta vs Metal Cooler in the movie are my favorites of all Dragon Ball
This fight was actually a lot better than Cell vs Gohan.
NyQuiiL Cold & Flu that’s because gohan vs cell was Gohan dodging the entire time, hitting cell 2 times to demolish him, the usual power ups, and the kamehameha
Had Gohan fought Cell after he returned, that might not have been the case. But they went straight to the Kamehameha, which is such a shame
NyQuiiL Cold & Flu U buggin
Gohan vs. Cell wasn't really a fight. Just Cell beating down Gohan for a bit, then SSJ2 Gohan beating down Cell for a bit, then the kamehameha. Still love it though.

That was the single most engaging aspect of it
I'm glad the ring was there for Hercule's figjt & Goku's first round
Nice to get rid of the ring after those for contrasting and to let them show their feats of strength

If he were to have been nearly killed in the ToP, it might have taken Beerus, Jiren, or even MUI Goku to kill him again, because he can regenerate from asingle cell and become at least twice, if not more, as strong as before.

the thing that makes this fight is the timing of the shots. they recover from blows very quickly, but you always get a short moment of them grimacing from a hit before they counterattack, and it makes the pacing of the fight so much better, and really makes it feel like a struggle rather than just endless blocking and punching

He really was giving his best and was clearly not going to win. So good work to the animators for capturing that detail.
Finally! Someone other than myself finally sees it! Good eye dude.
You can really see at some points that Goku doesn't have the edge.
It's especially telling after they trade hits at 1:51. It lingers on Goku more than it does Cell, as if to say 'our hero's in *big* trouble'.

Jazz Mazz bruh I've seen all of super. But the stakes never feel as high as they do in z. U can't almost feel the punches like u do in z. It's cool to look at some of the fights but they didn't put nearly as much effort into the series as they did with z and that's not debatable
+Robert Holmes
I agree with that first part.

In my eyes, Super is a really tragic show. Not in the sense it was bad, but because it was bad when it really had the potential to better, which I think is better demonstrated in the stark contrast in quality between episodes 123-129 in comparison to 130 and 131.
Jazz Mazz 130 and 131 were the only actually good episodes of DBS imo and the only decent fight, but it’s still nowhere as good as a DBZ fight.
Also, where in dragon ball super did u feel like anything might not work out. In super, u were always like "oh he's strong, I wonder how they'll beat him" not "holy shit this character is about to get fucked up and I'm worried"
I always loved the sequence at 1:48 !!
Cell lands on a push up position bloody awesome too.
Nice analysis. I always like that small detail of Goku BARELY touching the ground before speeding up again.
The close fights are infinitely more interesting than one sided stomp - new transformation - one sided stomp - new transformation - one sided stomp

Its probably how the weaker fighters see it: They can still tell what is happening, but its like on fast-forward.
Yo that was crazy
did as you mentioned. almost died of laughing with cells gatling gun fist 00:45 XD
This here is the most underrated fight in Dragon Ball 🙌
do you even know what underrated means ?
MisterPikol he does not
I would say 17 vs piccolo and goku vs Ginyu were the most underrated fights in dragon ball z
@@BigBlack20 Goten vs Trunks
@@Alanbec3 that was more like a sparring match than anything but i see what you mean
So Cell officially lost right there. You can't just change the rules in the middle of a fight, and Cell touched the ground first. Goku beat Cell.
He lost when goku blew half of his body off therefore making goku the last man standing. Cell can change the rules cause he made the cell games tournament happen.
ItzLit XXIII
Last man standing as in last man still alive, nothing said that Cell couldn’t regenerate.
@@blessedxxiii5583 Goku """"killed"""" cell so Goku Is a out
I didnt said "If u kill me u Will win"
1:17 What I love about Dragon Ball, let alone shounen, is the reaction to hyperbolize the impact of an attack. It holds weight and force to give the audience a heavy impression of the fight.
Quite possibly my favourite fight scene in the show. Beautifully animated.
I remember I was so hyped up when I saw this as a kid. Man I miss DBZ and this type of animation/music
Todo un sayanjin
He has Goku’s dna
This fight truly felt like two super powered martial artists during it out, a trait all the best fights in the series share and something that a lot of the fights nowadays really lack
DB Super is terrible fan fiction
0:09 to 1:16 has the best soundtrack for a fight at that speed. Wish they did music like that in super
do you know what the ost is called for that sequence
Bookmarking this in case someone answers
@@akashicays same
@@fuostae5063 the music is piccolo vs 17 from the american soundtrack
You can tell how much Goku is having to concentrate here, which makes Cell even more of threatening presence.
The absolute pinnacle of DBZ and the father of all anime…
RIP TORIYAMA
Not the father of all anime
@@vagiasthanasisHe didn't create Anime, but he definitely made it mainstream and cool, which is a major milestone if you think about it.
@@ze_kangz932 I seriously doubt that it was him that made them mainstream since they didnt become mainstream until way after dragonball.
There were cool anime both before and after dragonball as well.
@@vagiasthanasis Those cool animés I know some of them(fist of the north star, Nadia, Astro boy...) but DB was the very first to be a massive success, which showed that Anime can be a genre of media on its own and inspired many mangakas to make thier own hits. You need to stop hating and give credit where it's due :)
@@ze_kangz932 I am not the one who doesnt give credit where its due.
Did you read the first reply?
"THE FATHER OF ALL ANIME?"
You guys are the ones atributing every othe mangaka or cartoonist efforts to Toriyama...
Even taking what Tezuka accomplished and giving it to him.
No,Toriyama was good but he was not the one responsible for making anime a thing.
After watching it, it doesn't feel like 2:36 minutes
those moves though
There's nothing like that in DBS
did you even watch the whole show🤨 goku vs jiren on multiple occasions. goku vs kale and caulifla. gohan and 17 vs toppo. goku’s second fight with frieza. goku vs 17. vegeta vs g.o.d toppo. universe 7 vs aniraza. the WHOLE broly movie. come on man.
Rintaro most dbz fights are animated worse then those fights the other dude listed
DBS Fights are way much Better than GT and DBZ
“DBS bad” 🤡
Rip akira toriyama. Inspiration to us all
I am always blown away by how well choreographed this part is. So well done.
This real intensity of goku is so much more heartfelt than the “I’m not going to let you destroy my planet”! Dbz super goku
0:00-0:06 when you take smash brothers online and realise you’re a small fish in an ocean now.
What I like about this scene is that cell was always way stronger than Goku but didn't power up to max but rather tried to beat Goku, who is a fighting genius, at his own game with fighting intuition and techniques. Instead of making it a power blowout he turned it into a game of chess
I’d like to point out that cell had the advantage for most of this scrap, as goku is needing to play more passively while fighting cell
Cell wasn't way stronger. It was a draw..Goku would eventually beat him if they kept fighting
@@HHH_3 yeah no lol. Only SS2 gohan could beat Cell that time
But then he lets the Freeza in him win and blows up the ring, letting him use power to defeat Goku.
The fear of defeat, the feelings of mystery, the sensation of vehemence, fighting really is something!
This animation is excellent.
1:38 one of my favorite parts of the fight
This fight along with Goku’s fight with Buu is one of the most underrated fights in DBZ. This visuals and choreography were done perfectly!
goku vs fat buu or kid buu ?
Man, Super was good but it NEVER had a SINGLE fight scene like this or against Frieza on Namek or SS3 Goku vs. Kid Buu.
Super had good fight sequences/fight scenes (Goku Black/Zamasu vs. Future Trunks/Goku, SS Blue Goku vs. Hit, SSB Vegeta wailing on SSR Black, Goku/Frieza/17 vs. Jiren just to name a few) but never solid FIGHTS I'm talking like Z where some fights would be 2-3+ episodes (didn't have to be over 10 like against Frieza but you know what I mean).
Episode 65,128, 129, 130, 131.
The Haves and the Have Nots Review FOR THE FIRST TIME SOMEONE SAID IN A DBZ VIDEO "Super is good" YESSSSSSSS
I would argue that the last couple episodes of Super were roughly up to this level of quality. Unfortunately, it was too little too late.
Stephen Ball but it will come back
Yup. I actually felt the fights in Super were quite disappointing by most comparisons, but this is my fav DB fight ever.
This part of the fight makes me genuinely feel bad for the person who animated before it. Before this part, Cell and Goku were fighting, but the animation is so stiff and uninteresting. Then this part comes in with flawless and fluid animation that shows their intensity in a fight, as well as their brilliant technique. One of the best fights in the show.
i can not believe i forgot about this fight tbh, seeing it now, its fucking incredible lol. cell using his technique against him and it was pissing goku off at 0:51
Back when Goku knew when to get serious. Yeah, notice how he isn't smiling like a complete idiot? He's angry, frustrated, going all out, he realizes the actual stakes here.
DBS Goku is just a dumbass while this Goku is a tactical genius
yea but he was smiling while giving cell a senzu bean and fixing his son to get beat down lmao.
also, goku has never smiled during the climax of any dbs fight.
@@leultrainstinct406 DBZ is still the better show. No matter how much you try to sugarcoat this.
Goku smile too because he know the hard training and power of his son gohan
I knew it was gonna be Masaaki Iwane's part.
The art was so gritty and expressive, and the entire part gave us amazing action and choreography.
It also gave us a great use of teleportation and truly shows that Goku is a skilled martial artist.
Bardzo dobra walka
Ah good times. When you could feel the punches, see crispy choreography, feel the tension and enjoy some plot twists. Priceless
