As a title contender, a rival, and a coworker of Senna, Mika was 1 of few people in this world who could truly understand Michael's emotions; and he was here for him. Mika will always be held in the highest regards.
I don't think during that time, Mika and Michael were friends but for us that have never been part of the best in our field, that's a level of respect that can't be understood by us regulars.
I loved mika as a race rival ... A gentleman ...schumi F1 legend........ Followed you since 97,waking up at 4am to watch you race... Having me on the edge of my seat,my heart pumping like crazy hoping you would win..... Get well soon my friend..... And thank you for all the years I have watched you in f1
hakkinen and schumacher were both on the podium that day at imola when senna died, and schumacher was directly behind ayrton when he wrecked. neither were aware of the fact that he had passed until much later, so this must have been a very emotional day for the both of them
@@ambissingye michael blamed himself for a while, understandable considering senna was defending against michael when the crash happened. i feel so sorry for michael because the crash was not his fault at all, and you can see from this interview that he doesn’t know how to comprehend what happened
Senna was the best and Schumi was also an amazing driver. Schumi showed that he really cared about Ayrton. This is a true sign of respect. They both are two amazing persons.
He was under intense pressure in this race after the events of Austria, Germany, Hungary, Belgium where he didn’t get good results. He won in front of the Tifosi. The pressure came out of him in tears. That’s why he cried. He and Senna never got along.
@@is-gy7vt are you serious rn? He admired Senna that too a lot. They had their bad moments but they liked each other. Don't speak about the things you don't know a lot.

I'm sure that when Senna's name was mentioned that it brought a flood of emotion. Michael always wore his heart on his sleeve and it was one of the many reasons I loved watching him race.
What a memorable moment. My respect for Hakkinen has increased tenfold after seeing this. Schumacher also, this shows he's the wunderkind of the early 90's no matter what age he is, and of course the memory of the mercurial Ayrton Senna.
Schumi shows that he's a very sensible and respectful man. Rare quality for those who are on top. All the best for him. He's an example of professionalism and attitude to others.
It was hard to see Michael get emotional on the track he was a professional but after this interview I saw Michael Schumacher the human being I still remember seeing that accident at imola I was only 10 but I cried all night. Everyone who saw it knew it was bad not to mention Michael himself had the worst seat in the house for the worst day in f1 history and I'd like to say it's really good to see the respect between Schumacher and hakkinen two great rivals and great drivers
at that time (monza 2000?) He had just won the GP, and thanks to this win, just tied Senna's (at the time) 2nd most career wins record, 41 .... that's why that win was so important to him, and no one could blame him about that, I almost cried too when I saw this live, so that was emotional .... RIP Ayrton
a true human being. Well done Michael we all did. I still think that Ayrton Senna is a legend forever and the best in car-rasing history why because should he had lived who knows what could have become of him possibly 10 times world champion.
It does,nt matter how long it,s been or how many times one watches this insert or any other footage concerning the great, legendary Senna, you can,t help but get emotional. His death was a great loss to the racing world and ALL his fellow racing drivers. RIP - Ayrton Much love and respect always and forever.
All driving abilities and comparisons aside, and discounting whether a question should be asked or not by the press; Michael chose to stay at the table and speak volumes about Ayrton without saying a word in front of millions of people. For me, he answered the question perfectly. What does it really matter who was better? It's the passion they both possessed that fueled a fire within us fans. Would either man ask anyone to dislike or hate the other? I truly don't believe so. Yet the war wages on and does an injustice to both. We are all capable of good and bad. What makes any of us adequate judges? Especially if we haven't walked in their shoes.
Neither Micheal nor Mika could have become as great as they were without the other as a great rival.... They both knew this and respected it. To have Ralph sat there too was the icing on the cake for Micheal. They also had some of the best relationships and performances with their own team mates. It was a beautiful era to become a motor sports fan and nothing will ever compare to it for me. Sports at its finest
I think this shows an admirable side to Michael Schumacher: emotion, passion and respect (for Senna). It seems that Mika was also quite affected, and it's good the 3 of them support each other so publicly...
I wonder if Sebastian Vettel or Lewis Hamilton may become this emotional when asked about winning more races/championships than Michael (if they do), thinking about where Michael is now...

this is why i support Mika, cause he's a true friend, true gentleman, awesome driver who respects everyone and modest. And mark my words: his son Hugo will be a WDC in someday...(i hope)
I think the reporter did his job very well. When Schu became overcome with emotion he began asking the others questions, but it still allowed F1 fans to share an emotional moment with the drivers. Good job.
Ayrton Senna was like F1's version of Dale Earnhardt Sr, one of the greatest F1 drivers ever and was loved and respected by everyone. He passed away during a race in 1994.
honestly, schumacher knows he won most races and titles but he knows when to reconize the greatest driver all times (Senna). i so respect schumacher for this and what a simplicity from him.
This race was strangely coincidental and symbolic; for one thing, Michael finally matched Ayrton in terms of overall wins. Also, a track marshal was struck and killed when a loose wheel from Frentzen's Jordan collided with him. The death of the marshal was the first one recorded in F1 since Ayrton Senna's tragic demise in '94.

Hakkinen, respect for that but also made me giggle. He's like waving "come to me, he needs a break" soon as he's asked a question "can't we take a break, come on!"
He raced with Senna, and he was a great friend of his. And when the reporter said "You reached Senna's record", it hit him hard. This was after his death.

Just think of the number of victories Senna would have today...I would say that he would have gotten another championship before retiring. I miss watching Senna race, even 17 years later. He was my 1st favorite driver.
Schumacher was behind Senna when he crashed and Mikka was there too, it is totally understandable that they were overwhelmed with emotion. He did the right thing for the situation, the strong thing, which was to deal with the reporter.
Ayrton Senna death will and always will be the biggest tragedy in F1 history. A man who stood up when something was wrong and first to help someone in need. Just an absolute great human.
