I love this stuff. Especially with some of the frozen Texas toast garlic cheese bread. When I make this I use a Hunts can of tomato paste that has garlic and basil in it. Adds to the flavor.

I have used this Kraft Classic Tangy Italian Spaghetti Diner for decades, but I use it as a base with additions. First, make it with 2 boxes which allows adding 1 can of tomato paste & 2 cans of water for body to the sauce plus one 14.5oz. can of fire roasted tomatoes for looks & taste. I also sauté some onion and brown 1lb. of ground meat for the sauce along with a jar/can of sliced mushrooms. I sometimes also throw in more garlic and dried Italian herb mix. I like a more robust spaghetti than comes in the box, so use 1 lb. of better dried spaghetti. I get Sam’s Warehouse (Members Mark) spaghetti by the case…surprisingly good quality pasta. My family likes meatballs, so I often add some frozen meatballs to the sauce as well. Add some of the water from the boiled pasta to the sauce.
Still cheap and will feed at least 4 folks.

I think the first time my Mom made this for the four of us was maybe in the late sixties or early seventies. It wasn't bad at all. That and it was a one pot meal for her too. She'd cook the noodles in a medium size pot, dump them in the colander, lower the heat on the unit and put the pot back on. She used a can of tomato sauce instead and the tomato paste, just easier to work with. Sometimes she'd throw some ground beef or cut up some Italian sausage and maybe add a can of mushrooms too. Kind of stretched out the sauce a little especially when my brothers got older. I made a box a that like two months ago and when I hit the grocery store, I'll grab a couple more and put them in the pantry. If I'm making spaghetti for more than four people, I go with the jared stuff but if it's just me and one or two other people, a box of this is fine.

Mix spice pack into ground beef and tomato sauce. Drain noodles. Mix noodles with sauce together right away in the noodle pan. Enjoy.

I use the original sauce instructions which is 2x8oz cans of tomato sauce + 1/2 can of water instead of the current tomato paste instructions. I'll add onions, mushrooms, mozzarella and/or fresh parmesan cheese to make it even better. 😋😋

@@HeySeanEly okay! I made it and here are my thoughts:
The tomato sauce, once it thickened and cooked was ok. More edible than I expected it to be, though it still tasted a bit bland even after putting in the seasoning pack. Once I added black pepper and more seasoning (I used pizza seasoning), the sauce a lot more tasty. Like, I couldn’t believe that this came out of a can of only tomato paste.
The noodles were by far the worst part. I could tell something was up when I put the pasta in the pot of boiling water and it clouded up instantly. Yes, pasta has some starch that releases, but this was a lot. After the pasta cooked, I mixed the pasta and sauce together instead of plopping the sauce on top. This when I could tell the noodles were gluey. Eating it, the pasta kept getting stuck to my teeth and it wasn’t a nice mouth feel.
I bought five boxes so my plan is to just replace the pasta that comes in a box with the pasta I have on hand (gnocchi, ziti etc) and I paid maybe $2 total between the box ($1.59) and the tomato paste.
I think I was most surprised about how much I ended up liking the sauce. I don’t eat enough sauce to go get jars of marinara. They always end up going bad before I finish the jar and I don’t buy big jars to begin with.
I’ve found you can buy packets of the seasonings on Amazon and stuff and all you do is have to use the tomato paste like the directions call for, without buying the pasta part. It’s actually pretty cheap and the Kroger packets are bigger and serve 5 instead of 4.
I give it a 2/5. The pasta is pretty terrible and while I will eat the other half to not waste what I made, going forward I will discard the pasta part. It’s a great concept, esp for busy households but I fail to see how this is on par with the pasta marinara I’m used to. And it all comes down to the quality of the pasta.

I don't think that I have ever seen this product on grocery store shelves or have tried it. I can make a spaghetti dinner with my eyes closed. I'm sure that boxed spaghetti would work well in a pinch. I use a jarred pasta sauce and doctor it up with Italian herbs and spices and using ground beef and mild Italian sausage for the meat, and adding my own veggies to make a chunky and flavorful sauce.

I’ve been using it for 62 years it only cost 39 cents back then I add spice to my own sauce

@@glorialautzenhiser5140 It doesn't take much to make an actual spaghetti dinner from scratch. I use a jarred commercial sauce like Prego and doctor it up with my own meats and veggies. Then I pair it up with Spaghetti noodles or any other type of pasta along with some Garlic bread and a nice, crisp Green salad and dressing. 😋🥗🍝🥖

Not only have I never heard of that I’ve never seen it. Guess it can’t be as bad as just opening a jar of spaghetti sauce and heating it up. Can’t get past the tomato past thing.

The sauce is okay, noodles suck. I use my real spaghetti noodles. I’ve been eating this since the 70’s.

I agree, I buy it just for the packet of seasoning....also toss the included noodles for my own. Sauce is so unique, been eating this loving it since the 80s

Now this costs $8.93 at Walmart! Thanks to Bidenomics. I love it. But I can get sauce and noodles cheaper than that. So will never buy it agin.
