The scene that made me ball my eyes out. Just finished the final season and what a lovely ending. But this scene I will always remember most, just so beautiful and of course just changing to her singing on her own there, but we know that they're all there with her. Just the pov of the people in the house who can't see or hear them. Quite sad but very beautiful. ❤
@@JasonBorn89 oh my yayy! Because I always would have wondered if their baby can see the ghosts... Mike's baby niece did didn't she. When Julian was awful low cuz of his daughter.
This version of the carol, set to this tune, was first performed in 1906 so Fanny, the Captain, Pat and Julian would know it from their lifetimes. The others would have learned it post-mortem.
Charlotte Ritchie is very charismatic. When she found Thomas singing with her and smiled, it made me smile too. And the look on her face when she hears the other ghosts joining in with her behind her.
Is scene is sooo well done I literally gives me chills every time I watch it it’s one of my favourite scenes in the whole series the way at the end they make her sing on her own is so good I’m obsessed and so beautiful
It’s interesting how half these ghosts wouldn’t have even heard this song in their day. This is one of my favourite Christmas songs. They have beautiful voices, even the plague ghosts.
One of the best scenes in television history imo. The love you have for these characters. The tension of the moment leading up to this. It’s just so perfect
This is a beautiful series that combines wonderful humor with poignance in a perfect mixture. This particular scene gets me every time; beautifully, performed, shot and edited. Even though it's dubbed from a studio performance, the seams do not show at all. Lovely moment.
This scene sums up ghosts for me. Emotional, funny and beautiful all at the same time. Can’t wait for the Xmas special. Already bought the book too which is like it’s own episode. Sad that it has ended.
We just got to see this episode here in America and I replayed this scene 5 times and came here to watch it again. It’s the best scene of the season, I’ve never heard that song before. It’s lovely.
This is one of my favorites - it is a beautiful song - and I had never heard it before - being American. But what i love at the end - is you see how much Mike loves Alison - just by looking at her.
The poem by English woman Christina Rossett gained popularity in the US before it became popular in England, being published in Scribner’s Monthly and later the New York Times. The music was written by Gustav Holst.
Love this series and sad to see it finish but this scene had me in absolute tears. So many hopes and expectations at Christmas and yet for many it isn't a happy time especially when you have lost family and after all Christmas is about family.
I miss this series. I wish i could have know the people in charge so i could have possibly convinced them to keep going, Because this show deserved to continue, either as an annual series or an annual Christmas special, especially since the actual film site is still possessed by somebody in charge. My heart is broken because not even an annual Christmas special will be held by this cast. This song alone meant so much to me.
@@KS-ui9vp Thanks, but I just like this show. Don’t need any hope for religious things or anything like that. In fact, I started to have hope again after I left the church 🤣🤣🤣🤣 worked seven years for the catholic church and nine years for the protestant church. And I can tell you, is is ALL about money money money and money. And brainwashing people. I was never a believer in any religion, but these clubs showed their true meaning to me. I’m free, happy and never felt the need for any religious stuff in my life. Did you know that for the first time more people in Germany do not belong to any church than the ones who do? And nobody misses it. The church misses the money, that’s true. But there are. Ore organizations who help others and are totally hypocrites. I think the world would be a better place without religions. Way less wars, discrimination, hate and pedophiles. Maybe one day you will see what religion really is. There is still hope for you 🙂
The British series has the heart and soul of the idea. This song which clearly transcended the generations(in spite of it being actually composed and written in the 19th Century) from caveman to modern woman. Prehistory, Georgian, Edwardian, Elizabethan, didn't matter, the song was part of a heritage. The British Show has this over the American show a thousand-fold. From beginning to end, they are part of the same British Heritage. From Robin, through the plague ghosts to Alison. All part of the same group. All British, from the very first caveman.

Beautiful, alisons voice is lovely and works so well with the ghosts harmonising, love the program, just full of charm, the way the ghosts from every background possible learn to live in harmony, and i have to say the Americans usually butcher our comedy but i think us ghosts is very good too and i would watch both repeatedly.
The first season when they followed the Brit version was excellent. Then they dumbed it down for the U S and it's gone downhill ever since. Never get the feels like the original. Don't even bother watching the U S version anymore.
I quite liked US Ghosts. Obviously, nowhere near as good as the original but the most recent series of the US one was terrible. It just doesn't have the heart, warmth or humour of our version. The UK cast is wonderful - apart from Nathan Byron (Obi) who is so annoying in everything I've seen him in.
@@bisneytm1511 Heather had no children so alison was link to fanny thought a child of Heather biological siblings because alison call Heather her great aunt?is it possible that Alison distant direct descendants from kitty half sister and Alison may have come from humphrey siblings or child because his picture was in button house?

Another thing we do better is... Ghosts. The U.S version is blatantly a bunch of actors reading lines. The cast haven't 1% of the chemistry that a comedy troupe of decades together has. Like most American remakes, it can't use subtlety and nuance on its audience because they aim it at the lowest hanging fruit. The audience are hit over the head and told to laugh at certain points, most British comedy doesn't need to do that. Just like 'The Office', it's just another American cash cow that is inferior in every single way.
It really irks me because its such a great programme and crafted with love - why does the conversation switch to the comparison between the two programmes in such a negative way. We are culturally different in some ways - and this include language and colloquialism - i understand the British version - im English but there are some references im not familiar with in the US and i personally think there are too many characters - but thats it .

Me too! I love this song, and the show is just brilliant.
American here. I had never heard this hymn before I saw this episode. I was misty eyed.

One of the most heartwarming bits of tv magic to ever grace the screen.
I love Charlotte's singing and then the harmonising of Mat's voice too, it's so beautiful.

The way it switches to Alison singing solo 😢

Charlotte has the perfect voice for this song. A sad but wonderful scene from a brilliant show.
i love the harmonies in this song
I just saw this for the first time, but I am familiar with the show. it brought a tear to my eye.😂

I got caught up thinking the same but remembered they have been in the house all this time so would have heard it through the years.

The plague ghosts are the same actors as the main cast.

This came out after my Papa passed away and it gets me every time. They should have released a proper single of it.

I love that she gives Thomas Thorne a quick kiss at the end - sadly you ended the scene before it.
