I failed geometry class in spectacular fashion. It could have been because the teacher barked, truly barked like a dog, and thought I was my sister! This is ingenious! I was able to follow you every step. Thank you so much. Here in the States with American Football, this would be great for the big games like The Super Bowl. Now my ex-husband can hug his body pillow with his tissues sitting beside him.😅😊❤ I love this!
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs I wanted to so badly, but I just kept thinking we were on "Candid Camera". Then realizing, she just would lose touch with reality. I actually left class one day and got the principal. He asked if she bit anyone yet! He finally watched, and then she "retired". I knew every teacher's business. It was like a soap opera in my high school. 😂 Small town...if someone belches on one side of town, the people on the other side know what they had for supper. All well before any computers 😂😳
I’m laughing out loud when you say that sometimes you are just too lazy for your own good…you are so clever, and this tissue box fit perfectly. I like that it’s reversible. Kudos for making the opening with the template, but I’m lazy too sometimes, I will just make a long rectangle. Thank you for the great tutorial.
Lovely tutorial again. We have boxes of tissues in so many rooms and I think they look so much nicer covered in fabric. Love that it’s double sided too. 👍👍. Thanks Christine x
Another great video! I make these in smaller and square sizes, and then purchase the less expensive larger boxes at Dollar Tree, to refill the smaller boxes. I write on the inside of the cardboard the number of sheets of the refill tissue that will fit in the box, and always gift a larger box with the smaller one. It is easy to cut the bottom of the smaller box on three sides, so that it is hinged, and then use small velcro tabs to keep the bottom closed until the next refill. The swirl opening can also be traced onto the top of the smaller box and cut out. If using up small fabric scraps, the pattern can be cut apart on the fold limes, and seam allowance added to the cut line, in order to keep patchwork strips going in the desired direction. If no direction, then it is easy to create random patchwork on a thin piece of cloth or interfacing, and then cut out using the pattern. I have been pleasantly surprised at how much people enjoy tissue box covers, especially when they can be personalized. Photographs can be printed on printable fabric sheets, and then applied to the sides of the pattern before construction.
Thank you so much for this pattern and tutorial! I suffered through making one of these at Christmas time using a pattern that is way too complicated and was a tight fit. That stopped me from making some as gifts, but not now❤❤❤ HI from Canada 😊
My 2 sons use to take my tissue boxes and use them as projectiles at each other and looked so banged up. Darn boys! To this day, both are in their late 30’s and they laugh about it to this day. I should have done this years ago.
Another wonderful video Christine. Easy to follow and sew along. Great to see im not the only one who slips up occassionally😂. Have a great day looking forward to the next one❤
Brilliant. I'm going to make several. A tip I use when trying to line up the center x of something on top of the center x of something else (your tissue box lid you removed from The tissue box and your paper) I place a straight pin through the center x of the top item and then while peeking under that paper/item I place the pin in the center of the bottom x. That way I know I am truly center.. Hope that makes sense.
Thanks so much for your Tissue Box video, so appreciated and most useful. What a great surprise to see it!!!!! Will continue to be a huge fan!!!! Virginia U.
Love this! I saw a tutorial from someone else a few years ago and they used a round curtain ring, like a very large grommet, for the hole where the tissue pulls out. I liked that idea but her tutorial was much more complicated than yours. Thanks for always making things so clear and easy to understand. Hugs, Cathy from Nevada
Love this idea, I’ve been looking to make one of these for myself and just haven’t had time to draft it out yet. Thanks so much I can’t wait to try it ❤❗️
thanks for doing this one, I've been meaning to make a couple of these for ages. (you can make the hole in the top whatever shape you like, i would just make a slim oval - as long as it is long enough that the tissues don't tear you'll be fine.
That "oops" is why I always make separate templates for interfacing and main pieces! Too many times I forgot to add seam allowances after I cut out the fused fabric .
If you have a pair of Pinking Shears you don't have to clip corners, it does it for you. They're worth the expense as far as I'm concerned. Scissors aren't cheap, and these make the job MUCH faster! Clipping curves is just annoying to me, and I don't like the added stress of the chance I can clip through the seam. Also, the time to fix it...if that would even work, as sometimes it won't stand the stress or laundry.
@ChristinesHomeAffairs Thanks for getting back to me so quickly Christine. I'm in the middle of following along with this project so wanted to be clear as I'm using a Xmas design plus an everyday design fabric. I've lightly interfaced both. Looking good so far! 😀👍 Thanks 😊
Ps The opening on mine is a simple oval shape so no probs either fabric side with that. Used the shaped card for the template like you said. Easy peasy. 😄
If you enjoyed this video & feel like giving something back to the channel, you can do that here..... www.buymeacoffee.com/stitchthisr
I think I will just use a long slit on top. The tissue will still come thru easily. Thank you for the video.
It sure will Tracy. An easier option too😁
Me too!😊

haha, I love this. I'd be making one for my ex straight away Sharon.... I wonder how many students used to bark back in class😁

haha, I'm too lazy to do many things Debbie. Always looking to get on to the next project😁
I was wondering if a casing was sewn at the bottom and elastic fed through if the cover would stay on the box. Thanks so much for this pattern. ❤️
That's a good idea Kay. You'd make the side panels longer with the casing, then it can sit under the box😁
Hi Christine, thank you for this tutorial.. your tutorials make even the most difficult looking things, easy 😅..
Thank you so much Sadia😁
Lovely tutorial again. We have boxes of tissues in so many rooms and I think they look so much nicer covered in fabric. Love that it’s double sided too. 👍👍. Thanks Christine x
Thanks Christine. They sure do pretty up a room😁
Love these. So easy, and something everyone can use.
Thanks Zee. It sure was an easy project😁
A nice little project for me, i think i will just make a rectangle opening though, regardless of the shape 🤔 thanks Christine!!
Good idea Janie. I'd do the same next time😁
Glad to have this. I'm making covers to coordinate with my rooms.
That sounds very cute😁
Great idea, I always have a tissue box on my bathroom vanity, now I can make a cover for it to match my bathroom!! Thank you Christine xxx
What a lovely idea Pauline😁

Thanks Patricia. I love that you refill them too😁
You are sooo good at drafting patterns! I am glad to see a professional almost mess up too! I usually make dumb mistakes like that!
haha, I consider myself a professional mistake maker Brandi😀
Love it. Thanks for showing us how to make the pattern 😊
You're very welcome Dolly. Thank you😁

Thanks Giselle. Hope the next ones are a better fit for you😁
Nice drafting technique. Thanks for another super tutorial!
Thanks Cyn😁
Thank you for your tutorial for drafting,it is very helpful, love the tissue cover looks great.
Thanks Eve😁

haha, what a lovely memory Elly. My boys used to fling spaghetti on a glass cabinet when I'd leave the room. They still think that's funny too😁
Another wonderful video Christine. Easy to follow and sew along. Great to see im not the only one who slips up occassionally😂. Have a great day looking forward to the next one❤
Thanks Venetia. I'm always slipping up😄
Would love to see a lined version of this
This one is already lined😁
I love it, thank you!
Brilliant. Thank you 😊
You’re welcome Jules. Thank you😊
Thank you, your instructions are always so good! Love it!
Thank you Linda😀

Glad you enjoyed it Virginia. Thank you😀
Nice project!
Thanks Patricia😀
🧻🧻🪡🪡🪡🙂🙂🥰🥰👃👃great job thanks for sharing
Thank you Joy😁
That is such a cool idea. I really like it. Thanks for sharing. 😊
You're welcome Anita. Thank you😁

Thanks Cathy. The curtain idea would be great for those smaller boxes too😁
Great tutorial!!
Thank you😁
I wondered how you would do the opening, you never disappoint!
Thanks Sandi😊
Love this idea, I’ve been looking to make one of these for myself and just haven’t had time to draft it out yet. Thanks so much I can’t wait to try it ❤❗️
You've very welcome Elayne😁
If you wanted to be fussy, you could top-stitch a little crimp along the top perimeter of the box.
I did think of that Zee, it's a great idea. I was feeling a little lazy😁
I did it!!! Thank you
That's fabulous Krista😀
Thanks for sharing
You're welcome Cynthia. Thank you😁
Thanks again for giving me more things to make!
haha, you're very welcome Patricia😁

Absolutely Maj. Any shape will do for the opening😁
Thanks
Thank you so much Kerry.😊
Thank u that's so cute love it . Must make one for me.❤
They're so easy too Eileen😁
What a good pattern to follow thanks you.x
Thanks Karen😁
Ty
Another super good project!! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Thanks Marce😊
I made the one with the grommet no matter what shape the opening of the box was it works just the same, I used thick felt.
That "oops" is why I always make separate templates for interfacing and main pieces! Too many times I forgot to add seam allowances after I cut out the fused fabric .
That's a very good idea. 😁
I made some years ago from leather
Just took box apart and used it as pattern
Put snaps on to replace boxes
Dont forget all sizes of boxes by brand
I think they'd look great in leather Marg😁
Thank you for the video
I don't have a pettern at this stage, but it could happen in the future😁
Love this! Wondering if these would be too labor intensive to sell and make a profit? What do you think? 🥰💕
I think once you have the pattern, it will be very quick to produce Sue. The only problem, I'd see, is the different box sizes😁

You can also but pinking rotary blades😉
I have so many pairs of pinking shears, and each one is blunt. I'm going to reorder some pinking blades though😁
❤
❤❤
Thanks Michelle😁
Is this a reversible or lined cover?
Diane, this is lined and can be reversed except for the curved shape when you turn it the other way🤣
@ChristinesHomeAffairs

Would it work (the cut out issue) if you turned the box around, from the first position?
Not for the one shown.
I did try that, but sadly it didn't work😁
