I feel like Champions Online had slightly better customization, and combat, as well as visuals -- comic book-style MMOs definitely benefit from cel-shading, and I think Champions nailed that. But the game's world felt really, disconnected? It didn't seem as alive as DC Universe, and the story was definitely not as cohesive or as compelling.
I fell in love with this game several years ago. Fell off. Tried to return but the level jumping made it difficult to fall in love with progression and learning the new mechanics. Someone said this game needs a graphic update or a part 2 and I agree!!!!
You came at the wrong time. This game was vastly better 7 years ago. If you enjoy it then that's all that matters but I feel sorry you missed an amazing era of this game.
DCUO was my first serious MMO, and I'm still playing it 10 years later. There's such a huge variety of content, and the fact that your character is scaled to over-but-not-god-mode-over the level of content you are playing means there's always a decent challenge in going back and re-running older instances for marks, feats, styles, or just for fun. Gripes first: Artifacts as "alternative" progression soon became "needed", as new content is built with these boosts in mind, and they take grind or money to level. In fact most things that take grind can be short-cutted by opening your wallet. The game is by no means Alt-friendly. Keeping more than one character at cutting-edge endgame is a lot of work. Time capsules (loot boxes that require special stabilizer keys to open) have all the expected RNG badness. Some Styles are only available from time capsules. There are feats only available for time capsule-related stuff, so be prepared to forgo a growing number of skill points as time goes on if you're not tempted by them. PvP is practically dead outside of ad-hoc duelling. The Pros: Huge variety and scope of content, all free-to-play, with new releases at least twice yearly (each usually made up of new open world area, 1 x solo or duo, 1-2 4-person alerts, 1-2 8-person raids - most with elite and elite+ versions, related gear and style, elite-version gear and style, and secondary gear and style). So much to do. Fairly solo-player friendly with alternative completion methods to the large open world bosses, and it's not prohibitively hard to get marks playing solo. Immersive and fun gameplay. The combat system is very dynamic and while there is the usual meta-game for powers / loadouts etc. there's nothing to stop you having fun playing your way. Character customisation is both immense and limited. Three body types, of three different sizes (the limited bit), but an endless variety mix-and-match styles available from Viking to Robot Cat With Dreadlocks And Devil Wings. Outside of cos-players, I have never seen two characters alike, and there are faithful reproductions of styles for a wide variety of actual DC heroes and villains for the cosplayers. Generally a blast to play, from levelling to endgame - it's kept me hooked for 10 years now. Neutral: Switch and XBox have their own individual international servers. PC and PS share crossplay servers, separate ones for the EU and US.
I got this game when it first came out and I still remember the feeling I got when I first flew in the open world. I also remember trying to come up with strategies with the groups trying to beat that one raid with the two robot dude who were hard as hell to beat. The raid was in an ice area and you needed to beat those two dudes in order to get to the next level in the raid. One dude suggested for a tank to pull one of the robot dudes into a hole in the floor and it actually worked! The mic went nuts. Great memories of this game and a ton of money spent on those tokens that allowed you to reset a raid. I think those tokens came out with the Wonder Woman raid/content. Game is awesome.
For someone like myself whos been playing for a long time Its hard to leave. The game has some sort of effect that makes ppl stay whether they think Its bad or not.

I've played Hard Light on my main account since it launched, but I restarted a new account just to see how the game is in 2023 and was blown away at how easy it was to get gear. I still enjoy playing the game.
I don’t like it that on online games not just DC universe that they’re making things like bosses and stuff or it takes 4 to 5 different players to beat the boss. It makes it hard for solo players. I believe that most places that make online games should at least put a scaling on the boss, so it doesn’t affect solo gameplay because some people don’t got teammates to rely on
Really to me its the nostalgia noing i can fly around or look the tall well made citys and that you can explore a lot of different places and there plenty of content to explore and even just hoping on for a couple of minutes is still pretty fun but it still needs some work to it but overall its a fantastic mmo to me. 🙂
I played this game a back in like 2016 and I constantly restarted because I'd get bored after about 2 hours in. The beginning is so fun and like 6 different versions of it
Imagine this has a sequel. It would be so fire. With this, Injustice 3, and Wonderwoman as the newer games. DC would probably forget their movies and focus on video games lol.

Came back 2 years ago loved it all over again but for short time maybe kept playing for 3 months. Then no time so Yeah.. amazing game inside my heart forever.
I will come back to the game every so often. I've had the game since it came out, have the collectors boxset that has the Batman statue, its even signed by all the devs/artists. I find the game playable until a certain point, and then it becomes more about picking the right power set/powers to compete in the end game stuff, which I found dull. I also keep hearing the game is getting a massive update or overhaul, but I've yet to see that.
I wanted to play DC Universe Online. But at the time there were way too many DLCs. but right now I think you can get everything for $47. So I may grab it myself.

The thing i dont like about this game was the weapon combat and the lack of movement types. Skimming is just another form of flying but Static Shock flavored. i also remember the era of Weapon combat hugely out dpsing power and i hated playing during then.
super speed was the worst and still is...half time running up a building and hit a corner or something and game totally redirects you to the ground or freezes up. I honestly love DCUO but I wish they would do more to make it more accessible to bring in new players. The SP grind this far into the games lifecycle is just insane and needs to be addressed, it's way too many hours spent on something that simply isn't fun, just to have a shot at being competitive in current content. I've played on and off over the years but I always come back every so often lol
Dcuo is a fun game you play when bored but rarely keep up with the meta … for new players it can be ehhh but I’ve been playing from basically the start so it’s still interesting
Love your commentary an just glad to seeing someone still enjoying this game which will always be one of my favorite action mmorpgs thanx for the content. I started playing with my brother an Now still play with him an my husband just not as much as i use to.
This is really good when it was released and I enjoyed playing it but when they do some changes last 2014 or 2015, not sure the exact year, I lost interest in it and stopped the legendary status that I paid yearly.
I've said for awhile I'd like to see DCUO take the next steps and become a better MMO. I know the GFX are getting a massive upgrade with the upcoming PS5/Series X releases, but it would also be a boon if they updated the character creator, streamlined powersets, moved into a new story phase post-Brainiac, and also created new home cities besides Gotham/Metropolis. I'd rather be able to base out of one of the other major DCU cities(Coast, Central/Keystone, Star, Dakota) and learn how to be a hero/villian before I made my mark on the big cities...
You should do a video on the top best missions in the whole game if you asked me? Id say my favourite HAS to be the altantis attacks mission i love all the cameos from aquaman mera AND my boy martian manhunter circe is also neat too i guess and the mission is actually a lot of fun in my opinion
As a new player I love the way I can create a personalized character to a good degree without paying anything. its not perfect but better than most. What I don't like is the difficulty In finding where to go after lvl 30, once the game opens up there it is hard for new players to figure out what to do. is there an order for the content? where do i go for the story? Otherwise this is my fave free to play game
I enjoy dcuo. I play on xbox, and there are just too few players to find groups for runs. The monthly subs earn gear at a rate which removes their need to continue to run new content, in just a few weeks into a new episode...this means there are even less people to run with...ques are wicked long and the game crashes from afk...losing your place in the que when you "log out" from the crash. This makes it extremely difficult to earn gear as a member. This means there are less geared players to que with in current content...i get bored of waiting and log off, for real this time, or i have to beg and bribe for a group... Stale and too much downtime with few instance ques...
if you could solo the whole thing or co-op with a friend it would still be great but most of it you cant even play because the player base is pretty much dead and it wont let you untill so many players are with ya
I play the game currently been for years now and the game isn’t bad. Its just that the only thing is if u wanna be top of the leaderboard it’s completely paid to win. And u gotta get your artifacts at 160 and higher if u do that ull be good
Game's pretty fun but as a f2p I hate that the AH is pretty much a non-thing. I didn't check if there's some sort of buy subscription for a month and get your account upgraded or some pack that you can buy to make your account permanently premium but yeh you're gonna have to sub for the end-game content. Also 2 char slots is way too few.
I love the game. I hate a lot of the people who play it. It sucks because Warframe is grindy but has the best community, but DCUO is extremely accessible but the toxicity is super common.
First off, it was a very entertaining video so thank you. Yeah for me DCU is in a strange place for me with games. I would say every other year or so I level up another character. The only problem is I am not a huge fan of the endgame. I might have taken 1 or 2 pretty far. FYI after I get burnt out with Diablo IV I might do another character….
I wish dc had increased the flight and speed like the cw flash and supergirls speed and for the acrobats they should atleast give them vehicles and atleast vehicles for any movement character
I swear every couple of months there's a different RUclipsr, with the same generic title to there vids about this game. DCUO was good back then, it's definitely NOT good now. I don't know why people still defend the game and the extremely boing terrible Devs lol.

He said he that Green Lantern from Wish. I’m done.😂
That Flash suit was made for the New 52 comics. They kept it even after all the recent reboots.
bro this content is top tier, pls dont stop making it, i hope one day we can play together
5:50 that Spawn is dope
You should do a video on the top best missions in the whole game if you asked me? Id say my favourite HAS to be the altantis attacks mission i love all the cameos from aquaman mera AND my boy martian manhunter circe is also neat too i guess and the mission is actually a lot of fun in my opinion
DCUO from 2017-2021 was peak in my opinion
2015->2019 had to be the best for me.
Otherwise this is my fave free to play game
add me i can help you
@depressedvision5272 will do, what is your character name? Hero or villain? I have a couple of each.
@@Lacerated1DJ3 are you on PlayStation?
@@depressedvision5272 no, pc only #pcmr 😉
its so sad they made the episodes free too play SO LATE it really killed the game hard glad to see it still some what alive
Actually i see a lot of people playing it, at least in the US servers PS/pC🤷
Think the Devs killed the game.
This will always be one of my favorite games ever ngl
Update the graphics and more character creation options and clothes /hair would bring more players
DCUO is actually so goated
Oh man I loved this game from day one, still have the disc. Only thing that ruined it was the greed for money, too much pay to win
Wish they would've kept the advance mechanics feature, the whole having to weave in either light or heavy melee or ranged attacks is honestly stupid
this game needs a reboot on the current gen, it would blow up if they do it right.
It probably would make someone create a marvel version
i love this game but wat i dont like is that its not fair like u need millions of damage to beat these bosses 🤕
if you could solo the whole thing or co-op with a friend it would still be great but most of it you cant even play because the player base is pretty much dead and it wont let you untill so many players are with ya
Dude more of this please so funny!
I play the game currently been for years now and the game isn’t bad. Its just that the only thing is if u wanna be top of the leaderboard it’s completely paid to win. And u gotta get your artifacts at 160 and higher if u do that ull be good
I tried playing this game a week or so and it wouldn't even let me move at all
Game's pretty fun but as a f2p I hate that the AH is pretty much a non-thing. I didn't check if there's some sort of buy subscription for a month and get your account upgraded or some pack that you can buy to make your account permanently premium but yeh you're gonna have to sub for the end-game content. Also 2 char slots is way too few.
Just decided to get back into this game. Played eons ago so cant wait to see what's up XD
I love the game. I hate a lot of the people who play it. It sucks because Warframe is grindy but has the best community, but DCUO is extremely accessible but the toxicity is super common.
Great video as always
love the new vid glad ur still uploading alot unlike cory love the vids an keep it up one day you will be at the top
BRO WHEN ARE WE GETTING THE GRAFICS UPDATE????
I used to play this game all the time
I got a whole league of Green Lanterns
I wish dc had increased the flight and speed like the cw flash and supergirls speed and for the acrobats they should atleast give them vehicles and atleast vehicles for any movement character
Never heard or seen these game before. Looks fun, so Ima try it
I swear every couple of months there's a different RUclipsr, with the same generic title to there vids about this game.
DCUO was good back then, it's definitely NOT good now. I don't know why people still defend the game and the extremely boing terrible Devs lol.
I liked this game but didn’t enjoy this pay wall behind skill/ability/story parts
Have not played in over a year but I did play for 12 years prior
6:18 idk why but this section had me dying with laughter!!!
Also ya, i like the game. Its fun
6:17 (POV) You're a cop
YOO💀
One of us. ONE OF US!
Played it for the first 2 years got outta it just got back into It about 4 months ago…it’s soooo much better
This game was so much better when Sony still owned the rights
I miss "flipping the bird"
