The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences (NCMNS) is a museum in Raleigh, North Carolina. Created in 1879 and established in 1887, the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences is also the oldest established museum and the most popular historic destination in North Carolina. It is the largest museum of its kind in the Southeast.
Opened in 2012, the Nature Research Center is the Museum’s new wing. In these exhibits, you can explore not just what we know about the natural world, but how we know it-the tools, techniques, and real live scientists that study the past, present, and future of our planet. From meteorites to mammoths, from biodiversity to citizen science, the Nature Research Center brings it all to life, right before your eyes.
